    Description

The Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) provides data on the geographic employment patterns by employment location and residential location. Variables tracked include age of worker, earning, industry, sex, race, ethnicity, educational attainment. Forty-nine states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are active participants, although there are currently no public-use statistics for Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Data files are state-based and organized into three types: Origin-Destination (OD), Residence Area Characteristics (RAC), and Workplace Area Characteristics (WAC) at census block geographic detail. Data is available for most states for the years 2002 onwards.

    Description

The U.S. Census's LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) Dataset was used to map job and worker density in throughout the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, Minnesota. The LODES data is part of the U.S. Census's Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) program which records the number of jobs by workplace location and the number of workers by household location at the census block level. LEHD data is derived from data provided by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development's (MNDEED) Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) and the U.S. Social Security Administration.

The U.S. Cenus Bureau protects the confidentiality of the original data by using a system of multiplicative noise infusion, whereby all released data are "fuzzed." Although the positional accuracy of the data is not as good as the original MNDEED QCEW data, a more robust dataset is produced that allows allows users to not only map a general representation of overall job density (LEHD Job Density), but also map jobs by income level (see LEHD Low-Wage Job Density) and workers' residence (see LEHD Worker Household Density or LEHD Low-Wage Worker Household Density).

The census block level LEHD data was converted to a smoothly tapered surface of calculated census block values. The resulting data surface provides a good representation of job density in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area, Minnesota.

    Description

This archive contains supplementary materials for the published manuscript.

We report results from the first comprehensive total quality evaluation of five major indicators in the U.S. Census Bureau's Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Program Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI): total flow-employment, beginning-of-quarter employment, full-quarter employment, average monthly earnings of full-quarter employees, and total quarterly payroll. Beginning-of-quarter employment is also the main tabulation variable in the LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) workplace reports as displayed in OnTheMap (OTM), including OnTheMap for Emergency Management. We account for errors due to coverage; record-level non-response; edit and imputation of item missing data; and statistical disclosure limitation. The analysis reveals that the five publication variables under study are estimated very accurately for tabulations involving at least 10 jobs. Tabulations involving three to nine jobs are a transition zone, where cells may be fit for use with caution. Tabulations involving one or two jobs, which are generally suppressed on fitness-for-use criteria in the QWI and synthesized in LODES, have substantial total variability but can still be used to estimate statistics for untabulated aggregates as long as the job count in the aggregate is more than 10.

This is a historical measure for Strategic Direction 2023. For more data on Austin demographics please visit austintexas.gov/demographics. This measure answers the question of percentage of people working in Austin that come from outside Austin. The LODES program collects administrative records from unemployment insurance reporting systems. Residence location is derived from annual federal administrative data. LODES are produced and released at the census block level, with all tabulations consisting of paired, origin-destination flows that can also be aggregated to the residence and workplace margins. The dataset contains information on the jobs-housing fit in census tracts across six counties in the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) region between 2021-2023. This dataset includes the data used to develop Map 7 for the Connect SoCal 2024 Equity Analysis Technical Report, adopted on April 4, 2024. The dataset includes two fields to describe jobs-housing fit (JHFIT) based on information from the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) 8.0. "Jobs-Housing Fit All" is measured as the ratio between the total number of jobs and housing units in a census tract. "Jobs-Housing Fit Low" is measured as the ratio between the total number of low wage jobs and affordable rental housing units in a census tract. Description

Source: Layers within the feature service have been generated from publicly available data sources including: Florida Dept. of Revenue (parcel data), OpenStreetMap (walking/biking networks), Census data (ACS, LODES jobs, household/population, and commuting statistics), Miami-Dade County (parks, bike facilities, urban development boundary, etc.), Miami-Dade Department of Transportation and Public Works (public transit ridership), the Southeast Florida Regional Planning Model (SERPM), and the National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD). The development of summarized indicators for reporting and visualizing data for analysis of Transit Oriented Communities in SMART Plan station areas and corridors is described in the TOC Tool Technical Guide.

Purpose: These layers are utilized for visualization of data summaries for the most recent time period addressed by the tool (2019). They are used in all Snapshot Dashboards to highlight different aspects of Transit Oriented Communities. Tables are generally used by dashboard widgets.
