The Unpublished Digital Geologic-GIS Map of the Chattanooga Quadrangle, Tennessee is composed of GIS data layers and GIS tables in a 10.1 file geodatabase (choo_geology.gdb), a 10.1 ArcMap (.MXD) map document (choo_geology.mxd), individual 10.1 layer (.LYR) files for each GIS data layer, an ancillary map information (.PDF) document (chch_geology.pdf) which contains source map unit descriptions, as well as other source map text, figures and tables, metadata in FGDC text (.TXT) and FAQ (.HTML) formats, and a GIS readme file (chch_gis_readme.pdf). Please read the chch_gis_readme.pdf for information pertaining to the proper extraction of the file geodatabase and other map files. This layer was created by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga GIS Lab, IGTLab 2022. 0.5 meter resolution multispectral imagery was collected and provided via Planet Skysat imagery. These images were acquired during early autumn of 2021. UTC GIS staff used a supervised object-based image classification technique to derive land cover types from the Skysat imagery to create this final thematic raster. Data was sourced from the USGS Protected Areas Database of the United States (PAD-US) 2.1 Vector Analysis File and combined with missing conservation easement data from the National Conservation Easement Database (NCED). Additional missing protected lands data was submitted by land trusts and other conservation organizations in the region.
