    Description

    A. SUMMARY This data represents the boundaries of City-owned lands maintained in the City's Facility System of Record (FSR).
Note: Not all lands are within the City and County proper. The City owns properties outside of its boundaries, including lands managed by SF Recreation and Parks, SF Public Utilities Commission, and other agencies.
Certain lands are managed by following agencies which are not directly part of the City and County of San Francisco, but are included here for reference: San Francisco Housing Authority (SFHA), San Francisco Office of Community Investment and Infrastructure (OCII), and City College of San Francisco.

    B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The Enterprise GIS program in the Department of Technology is the technical custodian of the FSR. This team creates and maintains this dataset in conjunction with the Real Estate Division and the Capital Planning Program of the City Administrator’s Office, who act as the primary business data stewards for this data.

    C. UPDATE PROCESS There are a handful of events that may trigger changes to this dataset: 1. The sale of a property 2. The leasing of a property 3. The purchase of a property 4. The change in jurisdiction of a property (e.g. from MTA to DPW) 5. The removal or improvement of the property Each of these changes triggers a workflow that updates the FSR. The Real Estate Division and Capital Planning make updates on an ongoing basis. The full dataset is reviewed quarterly to ensure nothing is missing or needs to be corrected. Updates to the data, once approved, are immediately reflected in the internal system and are updated here in the open dataset on a monthly basis.

    D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET See here for an interactive map of all the City lands in this dataset. To track the facilities on City lands, join this dataset to the City Facilities dataset using the land_id field. If you see an error in the data, you can submit a change request with the relevant information to dtis.helpdesk@sfgov.org. Please be as specific about the error as you can (including relevant land_id(s)).

    Description

The World Council on City Data (WCCD) awarded the City of Melbourne a platinum designation for its compliance with ISO 37120 (http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail?csnumber=62436), the world’s first international standard for city indicators. Reporting to the standard allows cities to compare their service delivery and quality of life to other cities globally. The City of Melbourne was one on 20 cities to, globally to help pilot this program and is one of sixteen cities to receive the highest level of accreditation (platinum). \r
Having an international standard methodology to measure city performance allows the City of Melbourne to share data about practices in service delivery, learn from other global cities, rank its results relative to those cities, and address common challenges through more informed decision making. \r
Indicators include: Fire and emergency response; Governance; Health; Recreation; Safety; Shelter; Solid Waste; Telecommunications and Innovation; Transportation; Urban Planning; Wastewater; Water and Sanitation; Economy; Education; Energy; Environment; and Finance.\r
City of Melbourne also submitted an application for accreditation, on behalf of ‘Greater Melbourne’, to the World Council on City Data and this resulted in an ‘Aspirational’ accreditation awarded to wider Melbourne. \r
A summary of Melbourne's results is available here (http://open.dataforcities.org/). Visit the World Council on City Data’s Open Data Portal to compare our results to other cities from around the world.

    Measurement technique
The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) Population (Male), (b) Population (Female), and (c) Gender Ratio (Males per 100 Females), we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the gender classifications (biological sex) reported by the US Census Bureau across 18 age groups, ranging from under 5 years to 85 years and above. These age groups are described above in the variables section. For further information regarding these estimates, please feel free to reach out to us via email at research@neilsberg.com.

    Description
    About this dataset

    Context

The dataset tabulates the population of Tower City by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Tower City. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Tower City by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Tower City. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Tower City.

    Key observations

Largest age group (population): Male # 45-49 years (90) | Female # 85+ years (85). Source: U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    Content

When available, the data consists of estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates.

    • Under 5 years
    • 5 to 9 years
    • 10 to 14 years

    • 70 to 74 years
    • 75 to 79 years
    • 80 to 84 years
    • 85 years and over

    Scope of gender :

Please note that American Community Survey asks a question about the respondents current sex, but not about gender, sexual orientation, or sex at birth. The question is intended to capture data for biological sex, not gender. Respondents are supposed to respond with the answer as either of Male or Female. Our research and this dataset mirrors the data reported as Male and Female for gender distribution analysis.

    Variables / Data Columns

    • Age Group: This column displays the age group for the Tower City population analysis. Total expected values are 18 and are define above in the age groups section.
    • Population (Male): The male population in the Tower City is shown in the following column.
    • Population (Female): The female population in the Tower City is shown in the following column.
    • Gender Ratio: Also known as the sex ratio, this column displays the number of males per 100 females in Tower City for each age group.

    Good to know

    Margin of Error

Data in the dataset are based on the estimates and are subject to sampling variability and thus a margin of error. Neilsberg Research recommends using caution when presening these estimates in your research.

    Description

Small Area plan polygons as determined by the planning department of the City of Alexandria. Small Area Plans are the 18 geographic planning areas within the City that together create the City Master Plan. These master plans are guiding documents that provide community-based long-range planning and analysis regarding the physical development and appearance of neighborhoods across the City. Overlay plans are Supplemental plans and amendments to existing Small Area Plans that provide greater standards or regulations. Properties located within the boundaries are subject to the requirements and regulations per the overlay plan in addition to other City standards and policies. If the overlay plan is silent to or does not address a specific issue or topic, the underlying Small Area Plan applies.
