This data represents the indiviudal Fire District (as well as Private and City Fire Department) boundaries located within Jackson County Oregon. In Cities with their own Fire departments, the boundaries of the fire department response area is generally the same as the City Limits boundary (unless otherwise displayed). The private fire departments follow a "Opt-In" model where it is the residents decision whether or not to pay for fire protection, so their district boundary is more of a checker board pattern. The Jackson County Fire Districts are based on taxing districts and other than a few residents who have opted out of fire protection, these districts cover large contiguous tracts.
