City of Phoenix Public Works Bulk Trash collection boundary areas. Bulk trash consists of materials that are too large and must not be placed in the garbage or recycling container. Materials such as furniture, large appliances, mattresses, toilets and large amounts of vegetation are often considered bulk trash. Bulk trash is currently collected from city-serviced residences four times each year.

This study represents an effort to map the distribution of plant community types across the Central Arizona - Phoenix Long Term Ecological Research (CAP-LTER) site centered in metropolitan Phoenix using Landsat ETM data. Vegetation classification was carried out using field data collected from within the study area describing woody plant species. A system was devised which represented a compromise between providing floristic information and enabling maximum spectral discrimination between community types. Image classification used reference spectra derived from training sites in the field and was carried out on subsets defined by soil surface texture in order to control for the strong background soil signature inherent to arid regions. While groundtruthing revealed that vegetation on clayey soils was mapped to 91% accuracy, other sections produced maps with less accuracy. The results of this study demonstrate that image classification of desert vegetation using only Landsat ETM data is problematic and may not be practical without other supporting data, such as radar imaging. This project attempts to produce a vegetation distribution map across undeveloped parcels of outlying desert wilderness, as well as remnant mountain parks throughout the city, contained within the Central Arizona Phoenix Long Term Ecological Research (CAPLTER) study area. This effort seeks to create the first successful classification map of Sonoran Desert vegetation derived from satellite imagery. The map would also be the first fine-scale map of plant community types in the Phoenix region. The depiction would allow for a calculation of the land area covered by each vegetation class, and which communities are exposed to development pressures. This map potentially provides a basis from which researchers can measure vegetative biomass distribution across the landscape and attempt to incorporate this component into ecological models of energy flows and biogeochemical cycling in the CAP-LTER site. Information on vegetation location can also assist with sampling stratification in other research projects. Finally, this map would provide a valuable basis from which future changes in vegetation distribution can be assessed
Water surface elevations of the base flood as approved by the Federal mergency management Agency (FEMA) for the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). The base flood elevation, in feet, is in relation to the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Profile baselines are for the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM). The cross section data are used for the production of Flood Insurance Rate Maps. The Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) show different floodplains with different zone designations. These are primarily for insurance rating purposes, but the zone differentiation can be very helpful for other floodplain management purposes. The differentiated floodplain zones are used for the production of Flood Insurance Rate Maps. Maricopa County has been subdivided into FIRM panels for the publication and distribution of FIRMs. Profile baselines are for the Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM).

The Wildcat Hill quadrangle is centered about six miles directly east of the town of Carefree,Arizona on the northeastern fringe of the Phoenix metropolitan area (Figure 1). Most of thecentral and western portions of the quadrangle are within the corporate boundaries of the City ofScottsdale. In the east the region includes the upper reaches of Camp Creek and the lower-crustalxenolith-bearing latite lavas of Blue Mountain. Topographic relief is low through most of the maparea, with a few hills rising above a broad pediment formed on granitic rocks. The map thataccompanies this report characterizes the bedrock and surficial geology of the Wildcat Hillquadrangle, and this report summarizes the geology and geologic hazards of the quadrangle. Mapping of bedrock in the quadrangle was based primarily on extensive field investigations.Surficial geologic mapping was based both on field observations and interpretation of black-and-white,1:48,000-scale aerial photographs (dated 9-17-92) and color, 1:24,000-scale aerialphotographs (dated 6-11-88) obtained from the Tonto National Forest. This study is contiguouswith geologic mapping recently completed to the south (Skotnicki, 1996a), east (Skotnicki,1996b), and west (Leighty and others,1997). This project was funded by the EnvironmentalProtection Agency through the State Indoor Radon Grant Program, Grant #KI009544-07-0, theU.S. Geological Survey through the STATEMAP Program, Grant #, and the Arizona GeologicalSurvey.
The City of Phoenix (COP) zoning boundaries were digitized from a hard copy data set, by contract, in 1991. Since that time, updates to the data have been made on an ongoing basis as land is rezoned. The layer is digitized at a relatively small scale, from approximately 1:10 to 1:10,000. Changes are made when inconsistencies are found.Contact Information: zoning@phoenix.gov

The city of Phoenix is divided into 15 Urban Villages. Each Village has a Village Planning Committee that is appointed by the City Council. The Village Planning Committees assist the Planning Commission in the performance of its duties. Village Planning Committee activities include: identifying areas or provisions of the General Plan text that need refinement and updating; identifying problems and needs related to implementation of the General Plan; defining in greater detail the intended future function, density and character of subareas of the village; and commenting on proposals for new zoning districts or land use districts.Contact Information: zoning@phoenix.gov
