The purpose of zoning is to divide the city into areas of such size, shape and number best suited to carry out the land use regulations of the City of Sacramento. "Zone" means a specifically delineated area in the city within which uniform regulations and requirements govern the use, placement, spacing, and size of land and buildings. Known also as zoning district. These regulations are found in the City of Sacramento Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance (Ordinance Number 2550, Fourth Series, as amended).
