A high resolution LiDAR derived hillshade facilitates the visualization of the topography of a landscape at a variety of scales. This hillshade which was created from a LiDAR derived hydro-flattened bare earth digital elevation model shows the signal returns without any vegetation or human-made structures. In addition to that, bodies of water have been smoothed. This layer may be used on its own or in conjunction with other data. The Sonoma County Vegetation Mapping and LiDAR Program. and the University of Maryland (under grant NNX13AP69G from NASA’s Carbon Monitoring System, Dr. Ralph Dubayah, PI) contracted LiDAR and orthophoto data collection for all of Sonoma County in late 2013. Also included in the data collection were two areas in Mendocino County - the Soda Spring Creek-Dry Creek Watershed and Lake Mendocino. This fine scale data will help provide an accurate, up-to-date inventory of the county’s landscape features, ecological communities and habitats. Project funders include: NASA, the University of Maryland, the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, the Sonoma County Water Agency, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the United States Geological Survey, the Sonoma County Information Systems Department, the Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works Department, the Nature Conservancy, and the City of Petaluma. The hillshade is a greyscale image showing topography in the landscape. In this case it is created from a LiDAR derived hydro-flattened bare earth digital elevation model illuminated by hypothetical light source shining from the north west. A hydro flattened bare earth digital elevation model (DEM) represents the earth's surface with all vegetation and human-made structures removed. In addition bodies of waters 2acres or larger have been smoothed. The DEM used to create this hillshade is described as a bare earth digital elevation model (DEM) representing the earth's surface with all vegetation and human-made structures removed. The bare earth DEMs were derived from LiDAR data using triangulated irregular network (TIN) processing of the ground point returns. Each image corresponds to a 37,800-square-foot tile. Each pixel is 3 feet and represents an average elevation for that area.

This shapefile contains tax rate area (TRA) boundaries in Sonoma County for the specified assessment roll year. Boundary alignment is based on the 2018 county parcel map. A tax rate area (TRA) is a geographic area within the jurisdiction of a unique combination of cities, schools, and revenue districts that utilize the regular city or county assessment roll, per Government Code 54900. Each TRA is assigned a six-digit numeric identifier, referred to as a TRA number. TRA = tax rate area number

This polygon shapefile depicts cities in the nine county San Francisco Bay Area Region, California. This data was compiled by the GreenInfo Network from different County and City agencies. Data was merged together into one file. Coast line is clipped out. The coverage displays city and county attributes, notes and source information in the database. Solano cities and San Francisco city boundaries are pulled from the United States Census Bureau Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing GIS database called TIGER/Line. Solano county does not have city data in GIS.
The City Sphere of Influence (SOI) dataset represents the nine cities, urban (incorporated) municipality sphere of influence boundaries within the County of Sonoma as determined by the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission(LAFCO). A "Sphere of Influence" is a physical boundary a local governmental agency is expected to provide services for and is generally set by Sonoma LAFCO with a 20-year time frame. Sphere of Influence boundaries are designated in order to help discourage urban sprawl, limit boundary disputes between local agencies, and provides indications regarding future development potential. A district or City's SOI should not to be construed as "referral" areas or as bestowing authority and control in the sphere area. LAFCO can amend a SOI if there are sound reasons to do so.Related Resource:Permit Sonoma GIS HomepageSonoma Local Agency Formation Commission(LAFCO)Annexation Report(The annexation report represents unincorporated lands annexed into city jurisdictions.)Refer to Map series per jurisdiction -City of CloverdaleCity of CotatiCity of HealdsburgCity of PetalumaCity of Rohnert ParkCity of Santa RosaCity of SebastopolCity of SonomaTown of Windsor
The Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) dataset represents the nine cities, urban (incorporated) municipality urban growth boundaries within the County of Sonoma. The UGB is a planning tool used to limit growth around a city and promote efficient provision and expansion of city services outside city limits. As defined by the Sonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO; May 2003): An Urban Growth Boundary is a voter-enacted boundary for those City's which reside within the County of Sonoma. The boundary depicts the maximum growth over a specific period of time (typically 20 year time frame) as desired by the voters (residents) within the City's and acts as a control measure by the people. The jurisdiction of the boundary resides with the City's and thus, any modifications and/or amendments must be voted on by the registered voters within the City limits. Therefore, LAFCO has no jurisdiction as to the establishment of the urban growth boundaries beyond that of the City's Sphere of Influence (a.k.a. SOI). See Data Quality - Attribute Accuracy tab for boundary modification history.Related Resource:Permit Sonoma GIS HomepageSonoma Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO)Annexation Report (The annexation report represents unincorporated lands annexed into city jurisdictions.)Refer to Map series per jurisdiction -City of CloverdaleCity of CotatiCity of HealdsburgCity of PetalumaCity of Rohnert ParkCity of Santa RosaCity of SebastopolCity of SonomaTown of Windsor
