    Description

This is the underlying dataset used for the country analysis regarding the percentage of papers in Dimensions and Web of Science (WoS), published between 2015 and 2019 that are open access (OA), regardless of mode of OA.A paper was assigned a country affiliation based on the affiliation of the first author of a paper, thus each paper is only counted once, regardless whether the paper had multiple coauthors. Each row represents the data for a country. A country only appears once (i.e., each row is unique).Column headings:iso_alpha_2 = the ISO alpha 2 country code of the countrycountry = the name of the country as stated either in Dimensions or WoS.world_bank_region_2021 = pub_wos = total number of papers (document type articles and reviews) indexed in WoS, published from 2015 to 2019oa_pers_wos = Percentage of pub_wos that are OApub_dim = total number of papers (document type journal articles) indexed in Dimensions, published from 2015 to 2019oa_pers_dim = Percentage of pub_dim that are OArelative_diff = the relative difference between oa_pers_dim and oa_pers_wos using the following equation: ((x-y))/((x+y) ), with x representing the percentage of papers for the country in the Dimensions dataset that are OA, and y representing the percentage of papers for the country in the WoS dataset that are OA. In cases of "N/A" in a cell, a division by 0 occurred.Data availabilityRestriction apply to both datasets used to generate the aggregate data. The Web of Science data is owned by Clarivate Analytics. To obtain the bibliometric data in the same manner as authors (i.e. by purchasing them), readers can contact Clarivate Analytics at the following URL: https://clarivate.com/webofsciencegroup/solutions/web-of-science/contact-us/. Description

Research data to accommodate the article "Overlay journals: a study of the current landscape" (https://doi.org/10.1177/09610006221125208)

Identifying the sample of overlay journals was an explorative process (occurring during April 2021 to February 2022). The sample of investigated overlay journals were identified by using the websites of Episciences.org (2021), Scholastica (2021), Free Journal Network (2021), Open Journals (2021), PubPub (2022), and Wikipedia (2021). In total, this study identified 34 overlay journals. Please see the paper for more details about the excluded journal types.

The journal ISSN numbers, manuscript source repositories, first overlay volumes, article volumes, publication languages, peer-review type, licence for published articles, author costs, publisher types, submission policy, and preprint availability policy were observed by inspecting journal editorial policies and submission guidelines found from journal websites. The overlay journals’ ISSN numbers were identified by examining journal websites and cross-checking this information with the Ulrich’s periodicals database (Ulrichsweb, 2021). Journals that published review reports, either with reviewers’ names or anonymously, were classified as operating with open peer-review. Publisher types defined by Laakso and Björk (2013) were used to categorise the findings concerning the publishers. If the journal website did not include publisher information, the editorial board was interpreted to publish the journal.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) field of science classification was used to categorise the journals into different domains of science. The journals’ primary OECD field of sciences were defined by the authors through examining the journal websites.

Whether the journals were indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Scopus, or Clarivate Analytics’ Web of Science Core collection’s journal master list was examined by searching the services with journal ISSN numbers and journal titles.

The identified overlay journals were examined from the viewpoint of both qualitative and quantitative journal metrics. The qualitative metrics comprised the Nordic expert panel rankings of scientific journals, namely the Finnish Publication Forum, the Danish Bibliometric Research Indicator and the Norwegian Register for Scientific Journals, Series and Publishers. Searches were conducted from the web portals of the above services with both ISSN numbers and journal titles. Clarivate Analytics’ Journal Citation Reports database was searched with the use of both ISSN numbers and journal titles to identify whether the journals had a Journal Citation Indicator (JCI), Two-Year Impact Factor (IF) and an Impact Factor ranking (IF rank). The examined Journal Impact Factors and Impact Factor rankings were for the year 2020 (as released in 2021).

    Description

    Context

The following shortlist of diamond open-access journals was compiled to increase awareness of alternative scholarly publication models among the six departments of the Faculty of Science at Utrecht University. The list is relevant to the six disciplines at the Faculty of Science: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Information and Computing Sciences, Physics, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. For this purpose, a "diamond journal" is defined as a journal indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) that does not charge an article processing charge (APC).

    Contents and Results

The Excel file titled “Diamond_journals_faculty_of_science_UU” contains the list of selected diamond journals based on the following criteria: they allow submissions in English, have a plagiarism screening policy, possess an electronic ISSN number, and accept submissions in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Information and Computing Sciences, Physics, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. In this shortlist, 355 journals meet the criteria. Out of these 355 journals, only 29 have received a DOAJ seal, 150 journals are indexed in Scopus, and 94 journals are indexed in Web of Science.

A detailed description of the methods employed to obtain this shortlist can be found in the Word file titled "Methods_and_Results".

The raw CSV data has been included under the name "Raw_DOAJ_journal_metadata_2023_07_25".

    Limitations

The compilers of this shortlist are aware that some current diamond journals could change their status to non-diamond by charging article processing fees at a later stage. Since the journal record is not always updated by the publishers, we strongly recommend the users double-check the latest open access status directly on the journal's homepage (journal URLs are provided in the Excel file). The same applies for Scopus and WOS indexations.

    Description

Australian and New Zealand journal of statistics Impact Factor 2024-2025 - ResearchHelpDesk - The Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics is an international journal managed jointly by the Statistical Society of Australia and the New Zealand Statistical Association. Its purpose is to report significant and novel contributions in statistics, ranging across articles on statistical theory, methodology, applications and computing. The journal has a particular focus on statistical techniques that can be readily applied to real-world problems, and on application papers with an Australasian emphasis. Outstanding articles submitted to the journal may be selected as Discussion Papers, to be read at a meeting of either the Statistical Society of Australia or the New Zealand Statistical Association. The main body of the journal is divided into three sections. The Theory and Methods Section publishes papers containing original contributions to the theory and methodology of statistics, econometrics and probability, and seeks papers motivated by a real problem and which demonstrate the proposed theory or methodology in that situation. There is a strong preference for papers motivated by, and illustrated with, real data. The Applications Section publishes papers demonstrating applications of statistical techniques to problems faced by users of statistics in the sciences, government and industry. A particular focus is the application of newly developed statistical methodology to real data and the demonstration of better use of established statistical methodology in an area of application. It seeks to aid teachers of statistics by placing statistical methods in context. The Statistical Computing Section publishes papers containing new algorithms, code snippets, or software descriptions (for open source software only) which enhance the field through the application of computing. Preference is given to papers featuring publically available code and/or data, and to those motivated by statistical methods for practical problems. In addition, suitable review papers and articles of historical and general interest will be considered. The journal also publishes book reviews on a regular basis. Description

Big Data and Society CiteScore 2024-2025 - ResearchHelpDesk - Big Data & Society (BD&S) is open access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes interdisciplinary work principally in the social sciences, humanities and computing and their intersections with the arts and natural sciences about the implications of Big Data for societies. The Journal's key purpose is to provide a space for connecting debates about the emerging field of Big Data practices and how they are reconfiguring academic, social, industry, business, and government relations, expertise, methods, concepts, and knowledge. BD&S moves beyond usual notions of Big Data and treats it as an emerging field of practice that is not defined by but generative of (sometimes) novel data qualities such as high volume and granularity and complex analytics such as data linking and mining. It thus attends to digital content generated through online and offline practices in social, commercial, scientific, and government domains. Description

The classification in reproducible and not reproducible models was made by Tiwari et al.

Citations were looked up in Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar.

The following journals had to be excluded, as Journal Impact Factors (JIF) were missing or papers were discontinued: * Experientia was closed 1996 and continued as Cellular and Molecular Life Sciences 1997 * The American journal of physiology – split into fields 1977, further splits in 1980 and 1989 * IFAC Proceedings Volumes – last issue 2014, continued as IFAC-PapersOnLine * Mathematical and Computer Modelling – discontinued as of 2014 * IOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering – not a journal but conference proceedings – no impact factor listed * Infectious Disease Modelling – no impact factor found * Jurnal Teknologi – no impact factor found * JCO clinical cancer informatics – no impact factor found * Quantitative biology (Beijing, China) – no impact factor found * Letters in Biomathematics – no impact factor found * Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society. Annual International Conference – no impact factor found * Haemostasis – discontinued; no impact factor found

It was tried to include as many papers as possible.

As the JIF is calculated every year, an average JIF of the Journal Citation Reports from 2014 to 2021 was calculated and used for the analysis. The results do not differ qualitatively if only the JIF of 2021 was used. As the Journal Impact Factor reports belong to Clarivate the JCR data was not uploaded to the repository.

    Description

The dataset collates the scientific production of two CGIAR Research Programs (CRP), Grain Legumes and Dryland Cereals (GLDC) and Roots, Tubers and Bananas (RTB), during their operational Phase II (for GLDC 01/01/2018-15/06/2021, for RTB 01/01/2017-15/06/2021). In more details, the dataset captures the journal articles (JA) reported by both CRP in their respective Annual Report (AR) (https://www.cgiar.org/food-security-impact/results-dashboard/) and gathers metadata from the CGIAR MEL platform (https://mel.cgiar.org/), Web of Science (WOS) (https://clarivate.com/webofsciencegroup/, © 2021 Clarivate Analytics), Scopus (https://www.elsevier.com/solutions/scopus), Unpaywall (https://unpaywall.org/), Gender API (https://gender-api.com/) and Altmetric (https://www.altmetric.com/). Part of this metadata was obtained through the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Quality Assurance Processor (M-QAP), a publications' metadata extractor (https://qap.mel.cgiar.org/qa/qap). The dataset consists of six worksheets, of which the main two collate (i) the list of journal articles and relative metadata (e.g., keywords, research country, commodity, CGIAR structure) and (ii) all authors, including their affiliation, and gender predicted via the Gender API. The latest export for both CRP for the year 2021 was performed on 15/06/2021. [Acronyms. CRP: CGIAR Research Programs; GLDC: Grain Legumes and Dryland Cereals; RTB: Roots, Tubers and Bananas; JA Journal Articles, AR: Annual Report; WOS: Web of Science; M-QAP: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Quality Assurance Processor. Description

The Journal of pathology Abstract & Indexing - ResearchHelpDesk - The Journal of Pathology (ISSN-0022-3417) aims to serve as a translational bridge between basic biomedical science and clinical medicine with particular emphasis on, but not restricted to, tissue based studies. The main interests of the Journal lie in publishing studies that further our understanding the pathophysiological and pathogenetic mechanisms of human disease. The Journal welcomes investigative studies on human tissues, in vitro and in vivo experimental studies, and investigations based on animal models with a clear relevance to human disease, including transgenic systems. In general, hypothesis driven studies that appropriately employ multiple investigative techniques are preferred over those that rely on a single methodology. As well as original research papers, the Journal seeks to provide rapid publication in a variety of other formats, including editorials, review articles, commentaries and perspectives and other features, both contributed and solicited. Purely descriptive papers on diagnostic pathology (including case reports and prognostic papers without mechanistic and experimental insights) are not considered central to the Journal’s purpose. Correspondence relating to papers published in the Journal will be considered, but only if of general interest. Such correspondance may be published in online versions only, at the Editor's discretion. In determining content, the primary considerations are excellence, relevance and novelty. As the journal of The Pathological Society, it seeks to reflect the broad scientific interests of the Society’s membership but its ethos, authorship, content and purpose are those expected of a leading publication in the international scientific literature. Big Data and Society Abstract & Indexing - ResearchHelpDesk - Big Data & Society (BD&S) is open access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes interdisciplinary work principally in the social sciences, humanities and computing and their intersections with the arts and natural sciences about the implications of Big Data for societies. This includes, for instance, the content generated on the Internet through social media and search engines but also that which is generated in closed networks (commercial or government transactions) and open networks such as digital archives, open government, and crowdsourced data. Critically, rather than settling on a definition the Journal makes this an object of interdisciplinary inquiries and debates explored through studies of a variety of topics and themes. BD&S seeks contributions that analyze Big Data practices and/or involve empirical engagements and experiments with innovative methods while also reflecting on the consequences for how societies are represented (epistemologies), realized (ontologies) and governed (politics). Article processing charge (APC) The article processing charge (APC) for this journal is currently 1500 USD. Authors who do not have funding for open access publishing can request a waiver from the publisher, SAGE, once their Original Research Article is accepted after peer review. For all other content (Commentaries, Editorials, Demos) and Original Research Articles commissioned by the Editor, the APC will be waived. Journals & Ranking

An academic journal or research journal is a periodical publication in which research articles relating to a particular academic discipline is published, according to Wikipedia. Currently, there are more than 25,000 peer-reviewed journals that are indexed in citation index databases such as Scopus and Web of Science.
