    This dataset includes two sets of files: (1) the school-bg files contain the block groups assigned to each school (i.e. estimated catchment areas), as well as corresponding census tracts and enrollments, using the Census-to-School (CTS) Method described in Hashim, Laski, Kelley-Kemple (2023); (2) the school-level file contains estimates for school-level mean income and variance of income derived using publicly available data on school locations from the CCD, enrollments, and census data on the number of school aged children in each block group, and the proportion of families with school-age children in each income bin in each tract. See Hashim, Laski, Kelley-Kemple (2023) for details.

    This feature layer was created using Census 2016 data produced by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and Constituency boundary data (generalised to 50m) produced by Tailte Éireann. The layer represents Census 2016 theme 11.1, population aged 5+ by means of travel to work, school or college. Attributes include a breakdown of population by means of travel to work, school or college (e.g. bicycle, car driver, on foot). Census 2016 theme 11 represents Commuting. The Census is carried out every five years by the CSO to determine an account of every person in Ireland. The results provide information on a range of themes, such as, population, housing and education. The data were sourced from the CSO. Constituency Boundaries generalised to 50m are based on the Electoral (Amendment) (Dáil Constituencies) Act 2013.

    Description

    This feature layer was created using Census 2016 data produced by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) and NUTS 3 boundary data (generalised to 100m) produced by Tailte Éireann. The layer represents Census 2016 theme 11.1, population aged 5+ by means of travel to work, school or college. Attributes include a breakdown of population by means of travel to work, school or college (e.g. bicycle, car driver, on foot). Census 2016 theme 11 represents Commuting. The Census is carried out every five years by the CSO to determine an account of every person in Ireland. The results provide information on a range of themes, such as, population, housing and education. The data were sourced from the CSO. NUTS 3 boundaries generalised to 100m. The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) were drawn up by Eurostat in order to define territorial units for the production of regional statistics across the European Union. The NUTS classification has been used in EU legislation since 1988, but it was only in 2003 that the EU Member States, the European Parliament and the Commission established the NUTS regions within a legal framework (Regulation (EC) No 1059/2003). The Irish NUTS 3 regions comprise the eight Regional Authorities established under the Local Government Act, 1991 (Regional Authorities) (Establishment) Order, 1993 which came into operation on January 1st 1994. The NUTS 2 regions, which were proposed by Government and agreed to by Eurostat in 1999, are groupings of the Regional Authorities.

    A dataset of Government schools average Primary Schools Class Sizes, showing average for Prep to Year 2, Year 3 to Year 6 and overall all classes, from census years 2001 to 2023.\r \r The size of primary class is collected from government schools as part of the February School Census conducted on the last school day of February each year.\r The data is collected from all Government schools as part of the February census. The size of a class is defined as the number of students that exist in a class grouping. Where schools have varying class sizes the following definition is used: -count the class as that which exists for the majority of the time and -which includes the time spent teaching literacy and numeracy and -which the school community regards as a class grouping. The data presented in this dataset is derived from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It delineates income distributions across income quintiles (mentioned above) following an initial analysis and categorization. Subsequently, we adjusted these figures for inflation using the Consumer Price Index retroactive series via current methods (R-CPI-U-RS).
