These data contain selected census tract level demographic indicators (estimates) from the 2015-2019 American Community Survey representing the percent of the non-institutionalized civilian population (Age 5+) with a disability.

This data set represents the known locations of community resources in Colorado serving the Disability community. This map details the agency locations for the following services: Area Agencies on Aging (AAA), Aging and Disability Resources (ADRC), Alzheimer’s Association (ALZHEIMERS), ARC Offices (ARC), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Resources (ALS), Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), Brain Injury Resources (BIR), Child Find Offices (Child Find), Congregate Meal Sites (CMS), Community Centered Board Offices (CCB), Diabetes Resources (DIABETES), Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Offices (DVR), Equipment Loan Program (ELP), Independent Living Centers (ILC), Meal Delivery Programs (MDP), Multiple Sclerosis Support (MS), Older Individuals Who are Blind Programs (OIB), Parkinson’s Disease Support Groups (Parkinson), Post-Polio Support Groups (Polio), Single Entry Points (SEP), Sign Language Interpreters and Services (CART), Stroke Support Groups (STROKE), and Veteran Services (Veterans). The name, address, contact information, and type of community resource is provided by the University of Colorado Assistive Technology Partners and the coordinates for each address were generated by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. These data sets were updated in 2017 by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. Addresses were geocoded in decimal degrees (NAD 1983) using geocoding software which assigns coordinates using U.S. Postal Service data, GDT data, and census line files. Mis-assigned addresses were corrected using Google Earth address locations. Use the GEO_ACCURACY field to determine if the coordinate assigned was matched or corrected.

Approximately ** percent of the households in government-aided housing in Vermont had a person with a disability, much higher than the national average of ** percent. Idaho and New Hampshire also saw high numbers, at ** and ** percent, respectively. In contrast, Puerto Rico had the lowest percentage of households with either a head or co-head with disabilities, registering just ***** percent.

Despite a multitude of social processes that enforce a binary gender system, an increasing share of Americans identify as transgender. Why do some individuals adopt gender variant identities while others do not? In this paper, I propose that alienation from normative categories, in addition to social support for trans identities, shapes gender identification. I argue that people with bodies viewed as orderly are less likely to adopt trans identities than those whose bodies are perceived as disorderly. Using data from three population-based surveys of U.S. adults, I find that people with physical disabilities are more likely than people without physical disabilities to identify as transgender, particularly in younger cohorts. I also draw from a survey of Colorado high school students to underscore that the relationship between disability and transness depends on contextual meanings of gender and disability. I conclude that gender and disability are co-constituted within social interactions.

The 2011-12 school year marked the sixth year in which the Colorado Department of Education calculated and reported student mobility rates. In addition, this year the state began reporting stability rates.
