    Description

This layer provide some of the more commonly used variables from the General Community Profile information from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2021 census. Data is available for Country, Greater Capital City Statistical Area (GCCSA), Local Government Area (LGA), Statistical Area Level 1 (SA1) and 2 (SA2), and Suburb and Localities (SAL) boundaries.

The General Community Profile contains a series of tables showing the characteristics of persons, families and dwellings in a selected geographic area. The data is based on place of usual residence (that is, where people usually live, rather than where they were counted on Census night). Community Profiles are excellent tools for researching, planning and analysing geographic areas for a number of social, economic and demographic characteristics.

To see the full list of attributes available in this service, go to the "Data" tab, and choose "Fields" at the top right.

Please note that there are data assumptions that should be considered when analysing the ABS Census data. These are detailed within the Census documents referenced above. These include:

Registered Marital Status In December 2017, amendments to the Marriage Act 1961 came into effect enabling marriage equality for all couples. For 2021, registered marriages include all couples. Core Activity Need for Assistance Measures the number of people with a profound or severe core activity limitation. People with a profound or severe core activity limitation are those needing assistance in their day to day lives in one or more of the three core activity areas of self-care, mobility and communication because of a long-term health condition (lasting six months or more), a disability (lasting six months or more), or old age. Number of Motor Vehicles Excludes motorbikes, motor scooters and heavy vehicles.

Please note that there are small random adjustments made to all cell values to protect the confidentiality of data. These adjustments may cause the sum of rows or columns to differ by small amounts from table totals.

    Description

The American Community Survey (ACS) is a nationwide survey designed to provide communities a fresh look at how they are changing. The ACS replaced the decennial census long form in 2010 and thereafter by collecting long form type information throughout the decade rather than only once every 10 years. Questionnaires are mailed to a sample of addresses to obtain information about households -- that is, about each person and the housing unit itself. The American Community Survey produces demographic, social, housing and economic estimates in the form of 1-year, 3-year and 5-year estimates based on population thresholds. The strength of the ACS is in estimating population and housing characteristics. The 3-year data provide key estimates for each of the topic areas covered by the ACS for the nation, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, every congressional district, every metropolitan area, and all counties and places with populations of 20,000 or more. Although the ACS produces population, demographic and housing unit estimates,it is the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program that produces and disseminates the official estimates of the population for the nation, states, counties, cities and towns, and estimates of housing units for states and counties. For 2010 and other decennial census years, the Decennial Census provides the official counts of population and housing units.

    Description

After over two years of public reporting, the Community Profile Report will no longer be produced and distributed after February 2023. The final release will be on February 23, 2023. We want to thank everyone who contributed to the design, production, and review of this report and we hope that it provided insight into the data trends throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Data about COVID-19 will continue to be updated at CDC’s COVID Data Tracker.

The Community Profile Report (CPR) is generated by the Data Strategy and Execution Workgroup in the Joint Coordination Cell, under the White House COVID-19 Team. It is managed by an interagency team with representatives from multiple agencies and offices (including the United States Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, and the Indian Health Service). The CPR provides easily interpretable information on key indicators for all regions, states, core-based statistical areas (CBSAs), and counties across the United States. It is a snapshot in time that:

  5. Focuses on recent COVID-19 outcomes in the last seven days and changes relative to the week prior
  6. Provides additional contextual information at the county, CBSA, state and regional levels
  7. Supports rapid visual interpretation of results with color thresholds*

Data in this report may differ from data on state and local websites. This may be due to differences in how data were reported (e.g., date specimen obtained, or date reported for cases) or how the metrics are calculated. Historical data may be updated over time due to delayed reporting. Data presented here use standard metrics across all geographic levels in the United States. It facilitates the understanding of COVID-19 pandemic trends across the United States by using standardized data. The footnotes describe each data source and the methods used for calculating the metrics. For additional data for any particular locality, visit the relevant health department website. Additional data and features are forthcoming.

*Color thresholds for each category are defined on the color thresholds tab

Effective April 30, 2021, the Community Profile Report will be distributed on Monday through Friday. There will be no impact to the data represented in these reports due to this change.

Effective June 22, 2021, the Community Profile Report will only be updated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Effective August 2, 2021, the Community Profile Report will return to being updated Monday through Friday.

Effective June 22, 2022, the Community Profile Report will only be updated twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays.

    Description

    Abstract

The South African Census 2011 is provided to researchers by Statistics South Africa in two formats: 1. A 10% sample dataset at the level of Province, District and Municipality plus spatial data at Small Area level. 2. A database of Community Profiles at the level of Province, District, Municipality, Main Place, Sub-Place and Ward. This database is in proprietary software, SuperCross, which allows cross-tabulation and mapping of the data. The South African Census Community Profile dataset is the Community Profiles database converted to Stata. This allows researchers to map the census data in software other than SuperCross, such as ArcGIS. The original rounding of the data to base 3 has been retained to protect respondent confidentiality. The result of this is that totals may not always add up. GIS data provided by Statistics SA at Small Area Layer level is available with this dataset.

    Geographic coverage

The South African Census 2011 has national coverage. The lowest level of geographic aggregation of the data is small area layer.

    Analysis unit

Units of analysis in the Census were households and individuals

Population is the sum of births plus in-migration, and it signifies the total market size possible in the area. This is an important metric for economic developers to measure their economic health and investment attraction. Businesses also use this as a metric for market size when evaluating startup, expansion or relocation decisions.

    Description

In 2005, the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC) compiled baseline socioeconomic information about 136 Alaska communities most involved in commercial fisheries. In 2010 and 2011, AFSC went through the process of evaluating the community profiles and determining how to update them. A NOAA Technical Memorandum finalized in October 2011 documents the process we are undertaking to update the Community Profiles for North Pacific Fisheries - Alaska (NOAA-TM-AFSC-230). In addition, the communities to be included in the updated document were reevaluated to ensure that communities with significant reliance on commercial, recreational and subsistence fishing are included. A total of 196 communities have been profiled. The new profiles add a significant amount of new information to help provide a better understanding of each community's reliance on fishing. Introductory materials cover purpose, methods, and an overview of the profiled communities in the larger context of the state of Alaska and North Pacific fisheries. The community profiles comprise additional information including, but not limited to, annual population fluctuation, fisheries-related infrastructure, community finances, natural resources, educational opportunities, fisheries revenue, shore-based processing plant narratives, landings and permits by species, and subsistence and recreational fishing participation, as well as information collected from communities in the Alaska Community Survey, which was implemented during summer 2011, and the Processor Profiles Survey, which was implemented in Fall 2011.
