    Description

This dataset presents the footprint of relief features represented by lines at a capture scale of 1:25,000. Data has been derived from Land Victoria's State Digital Map Base topographic data and converted from Microstation .DGN format to Arc/Info format.

Vicmap is the foundation that underlies most spatial information in Victoria. This portfolio of spatial related authoritative data products, made up from individual datasets, is developed and managed by the Department of Environment, Land, Water & Planning (DELWP). Vicmap Elevation is a statewide dataset series containing topographical relief features represented by lines and points throughout Victoria.

    For more information, please visit:

    Please note:

    • This dataset is limited to 15,000 features due to the feature extraction limits of the Data.Vic WFS.
    • Data is incomplete i.e. there are "holes" in the data where for example there are quarries, or large building sites.
    • Positional and attribute accuracy varies with scale of capture and the contour interval. eg, 1m contours from aerial photos +/- 0.5m 0.2 m contours from survey +/- 0.1m.

    Description

Contour lines represent elevation in meters above sea level. Our contour lines dataset is in 0.5m increments and was last acquired in 2013. The contour lines dataset is based on the Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1928 (CGVD28).The "Last Updated" date shown on our Open Data Portal refers to the last time the data schema was modified in the portal, or any changes were made to this description. The 2013 half meter contour lines data is a static dataset that will not be updated.Note: Attributes represent each field in a dataset, and some fields will contain information such as ID numbers. As a result some visualizations on the tabs on our Open Data page will not be relevant.

    Description

The collection comprises a representative sample of mapping information held by the Victorian Plantations Corporation as at 1998 immediately prior to the Corporation's sale. In 1998, the Government of the day tendered the Corporation's business (operating predominately pine plantations within Victoria ) and assets.

The Corporation's assets at the time comprised inter alia the contractual rights to plant and grow trees for future harvesting, and the actual trees planted at the time of sale. The Collection is the State's copy of plans made available to all parties interested in buying the Corporation's assets (i.e. information made available in the "sale data room").

    The collection of maps includes:
    - hardcopy prints of all the land in the Corporations control at the time ("certified plans" - CP's certified as correct by the Surveyor-General - of Crown Land allotments showing Torrens title descriptions, location, plot boundaries and dimensions)
;- A sample of "Topographic Maps" that show physical features of plantation land and surrounding areas, including plantation boundaries, contour lines, roads, etc. ("LEGL plans)
;- A sample of "Resource maps" that reference "CP" maps showing the relative location of a particular plantation and, within that plantation, information relating to the (planted) resources (eg. species type, year of planting, approximate area of internal management "blocks", approximate relative location of internal roads and tracks, streams, "net" planted areas, non-planted areas, remnant native vegetation, etc.).
    - The Resource maps are hardcopy prints of electronic data captured and stored in the Corporation's GIS ("geographic information system") database at the time of the sale.

The Schedules within the Victorian Plantations Corporation (Amendment) Act 1998 provide a cross-reference between plantation names, certified plans (CP numbers) and topographic maps (LEGL numbers).

    Description

Abstract This dataset and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied. This is a virtual dataset. It is too large to supply directly to this data register and is available via the Victorian government data repository - https://www.data.vic.gov.au/data/ This contains line features delineating hydrological features. Includes; Watercourses (ie channels, rivers & streams) & Connectors. Attributed for name. Arcs run downstream. A brief description of this dataset is also contained within a readme.txt within the dataset ## Purpose Vicmap Hydro provides an accurate representation of natural and man made Hydrographic features across Victoria, at a capture scale of 1:25,000. It is used in a variety of applications, particularly in emergency services, natural resource management, planning and development, and digital map publication. ## Dataset History Detail copied from the data.vic.gov.au Metadata record for Watercourse Network 1:25,000 - Vicmap Hydro (ANZVI0803002490). The line work and points were generated from the Vicmap Digital Topographic (VDT) map base coordinated by LIG. VDT evolved from Victoria's printed 1:25,000 Topographic Map Series program together with the need to supply a control framework for the creation of the rural Digital Cadastral Mapbase. The capture scale is 1:25,000 Statewide and the coverage, except for minor border issues is also statewide. The planimetric accuracy attainable will be the sum of errors from three sources:the positional accuracy of the source material, errors due to the conversion process, errors due to the manipulation process. For topographic base derived data this represents an error of 8.3m on the ground for 1:25,000 data. A conservative estimate of 10m for the standard deviation will be used in any data quality information. Alternate and equal ways of expressing this error are: not more than 10% of well-defined points will be in error by more than 16 m. The worst case error for the data is +/- 30 m. For vertical positional accuracy of points determined from contours there is an expectation that the elevation accuracy (standard deviation) will be half the value of the contour interval. ## Dataset Citation Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (2016) Vicmap Hydro. Description

Abstract This dataset was supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and is presented here as originally supplied. Metadata was not provided and has been compiled by the Bioregional Assessment Programme based on known details at the time of acquisition. This layer provides the boundaries of the River Basins of Victoria, and is part of a system devised by the Australian Water Resources Council (AWRC). The basins within Victoria are contained within two drainage divisions; the Murray Darling Division and the South East Coast Division. ## Purpose This dataset identifies major river catchment boundaries, and can be used in conjunction with other data sets to form the basis of regional water and land resource planning and management, and to assist in other forms of planning. ## Dataset History The base maps were interpreted by Environmental Science students at Rusden College using 1:100 000 topographic maps. Boundaries were inferred from the contours and the upper level stream system. For approximately six mapsheets contours were not available and the boundaries were derived from and the upper level stream system. In the flatter areas, such as the Wimmera, boundaries are fairly arbitrary. Centre for Land Protection Research then digitised these drafted boundaries. They have now been put into ArcSDE for MapShare purposes. This is a copy of the metadata description held at Data.vic.gov.au ## Dataset Citation Victorian Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (2015) Victorian river basins.
