    Description

    The New York Times is releasing a series of data files with cumulative counts of coronavirus cases in the United States, at the state and county level, over time. We are compiling this time series data from state and local governments and health departments in an attempt to provide a complete record of the ongoing outbreak.

    Since the first reported coronavirus case in Washington State on Jan. 21, 2020, The Times has tracked cases of coronavirus in real time as they were identified after testing. Because of the widespread shortage of testing, however, the data is necessarily limited in the picture it presents of the outbreak.

    We have used this data to power our maps and reporting tracking the outbreak, and it is now being made available to the public in response to requests from researchers, scientists and government officials who would like access to the data to better understand the outbreak.

    The data begins with the first reported coronavirus case in Washington State on Jan. 21, 2020. We will publish regular updates to the data in this repository.

    Select locations offering COVID-19 vaccination in Chicago. This is not an exhaustive list of all providers currently offering COVID-19 vaccine. Many providers are not listed on the map because they will start by providing vaccine to their current patients before expanding to others. Your first contact should be your health care provider, including your primary care provider, health clinic, or hospital where you have gotten medical care in the past. Check your provider’s website, electronic application (e.g., MyChart), or office recorded message for details on vaccine availability. Providers are also reaching out directly to schedule appointments with their existing patients, prioritizing those who are older with more underlying conditions. Check the details associated with each provider prior to calling or showing up at the office or pharmacy.

    There is a phased roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccine in Chicago with a very limited supply, so certain groups are prioritized. Currently, vaccination is available by appointment only for eligible individuals. The vaccine will be offered at no cost to all Chicagoans who want it, but patience is needed while vaccine quantities increase.     Context

    Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. Most people infected with COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. During the entire course of the pandemic, one of the main problems that healthcare providers have faced is the shortage of medical resources and a proper plan to efficiently distribute them. In these tough times, being able to predict what kind of resource an individual might require at the time of being tested positive or even before that will be of immense help to the authorities as they would be able to procure and arrange for the resources necessary to save the life of that patient.

    The main goal of this project is to build a machine learning model that, given a Covid-19 patient's current symptom, status, and medical history, will predict whether the patient is in high risk or not.

    The dataset was provided by the Mexican government (link). This dataset contains an enormous number of anonymized patient-related information including pre-conditions. The raw dataset consists of 21 unique features and 1,048,576 unique patients. In the Boolean features, 1 means "yes" and 2 means "no". values as 97 and 99 are missing data.

    • sex: 1 for female and 2 for male.
    • age: of the patient.
    • classification: covid test findings. Values 1-3 mean that the patient was diagnosed with covid in different degrees. 4 or higher means that the patient is not a carrier of covid or that the test is inconclusive.
    • patient type: type of care the patient received in the unit. 1 for returned home and 2 for hospitalization.
    • pneumonia: whether the patient already have air sacs inflammation or not.
    • pregnancy: whether the patient is pregnant or not.
    • diabetes: whether the patient has diabetes or not.
    • copd: Indicates whether the patient has Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or not.
    • asthma: whether the patient has asthma or not.
    • inmsupr: whether the patient is immunosuppressed or not.
    • hypertension: whether the patient has hypertension or not.
    • cardiovascular: whether the patient has heart or blood vessels related disease.
    • renal chronic: whether the patient has chronic renal disease or not.
    • other disease: whether the patient has other disease or not.
    • obesity: whether the patient is obese or not.
    • tobacco: whether the patient is a tobacco user.
    • usmr: Indicates whether the patient treated medical units of the first, second or third level.
    • medical unit: type of institution of the National Health System that provided the care.
    • intubed: whether the patient was connected to the ventilator.
    • icu: Indicates whether the patient had been admitted to an Intensive Care Unit.
    • date died: If the patient died indicate the date of death, and 9999-99-99 otherwise.

    Context

    Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, the world is facing great crisis in every way. The value and things we built as a human race are going through tremendous challenges. It is a very small effort to bring curated data set on Novel Corona Virus to accelerate the forecasting and analytical experiments to cope up with this critical situation. It will help to visualize the country level out break and to keep track on regularly added new incidents.

    COVID-19 Country Level Timeseries Dataset

    This Dataset contains country wise public domain time series information on COVID-19 outbreak. The Data is sorted alphabetically on Country name and Date of Observation.

    Column Descriptions

    The data set contains the following columns:
    ObservationDate: The date on which the incidents are observed country: Country of the Outbreak Confirmed: Number of confirmed cases till observation date Deaths: Number of death cases till observation date Recovered: Number of recovered cases till observation date New Confirmed: Number of new confirmed cases on observation date New Deaths: Number of New death cases on observation date New Recovered: Number of New recovered cases on observation date latitude: Latitude of the affected country longitude: Longitude of the affected country

    The COVID Tracking Project collects information from 50 US states, the District of Columbia, and 5 other US territories to provide the most comprehensive testing data we can collect for the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. We attempt to include positive and negative results, pending tests, and total people tested for each state or district currently reporting that data.

    Testing is a crucial part of any public health response, and sharing test data is essential to understanding this outbreak. The CDC is currently not publishing complete testing data, so we’re doing our best to collect it from each state and provide it to the public. The information is patchy and inconsistent, so we’re being transparent about what we find and how we handle it—the spreadsheet includes our live comments about changing data and how we’re working with incomplete information.

    Between February and June 2020, the rate of location opt-in by mobile app users in Latin America and the Caribbean grew from roughly ** percent to **** percent. Apart from Western Europe, Eastern Asia, and Eastern Europe, users who agreed to share their location to access mobile app services increased in every region of the world. The increase is due to coronavirus outbreaks worldwide, which led users to firstly spend more time on their devices, and secondly to download and install tracking apps to monitor their exposure to COVID-19. According to an April 2020 survey of adults in the United States, ** percent of the respondents said they would probably use a smartphone app to alert them in case of exposure to the virus.

For children, alternative test methods are offered by certain test sites in addition to the swab in the throat area. The dataset was kept up to date by the Department of Health. This has not been updated since 8 March 2023.     • Notice of data discontinuation: Since the start of the pandemic, AP has reported case and death counts from data provided by Johns Hopkins University. Johns Hopkins University has announced that they will stop their daily data collection efforts after March 10. As Johns Hopkins stops providing data, the AP will also stop collecting daily numbers for COVID cases and deaths. The HHS and CDC now collect and visualize key metrics for the pandemic. AP advises using those resources when reporting on the pandemic going forward.

    • April 9, 2020

      • The population estimate data for New York County, NY has been updated to include all five New York City counties (Kings County, Queens County, Bronx County, Richmond County and New York County). This has been done to match the Johns Hopkins COVID-19 data, which aggregates counts for the five New York City counties to New York County.
    • April 20, 2020

      • Johns Hopkins death totals in the US now include confirmed and probable deaths in accordance with CDC guidelines as of April 14. One significant result of this change was an increase of more than 3,700 deaths in the New York City count. This change will likely result in increases for death counts elsewhere as well. The AP does not alter the Johns Hopkins source data, so probable deaths are included in this dataset as well.

      • The AP is now providing timeseries data for counts of COVID-19 cases and deaths. The raw counts are provided here unaltered, along with a population column with Census ACS-5 estimates and calculated daily case and death rates per 100,000 people. Please read the updated caveats section for more information.

      • Johns Hopkins is now providing counts for the five New York City counties individually.
    • February 12, 2021

      • The Ohio Department of Health recently announced that as many as 4,000 COVID-19 deaths may have been underreported through the state’s reporting system, and that the "daily reported death counts will be high for a two to three-day period."
      • Because deaths data will be anomalous for consecutive days, we have chosen to freeze Ohio's rolling average for daily deaths at the last valid measure until Johns Hopkins is able to back-distribute the data. The raw daily death counts, as reported by Johns Hopkins and including the backlogged death data, will still be present in the new_deaths column.

      - Johns Hopkins has reconciled Ohio's historical deaths data with the state.

      Overview

    The AP is using data collected by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering as our source for outbreak caseloads and death counts for the United States and globally.

    The Hopkins data is available at the county level in the United States. The AP has paired this data with population figures and county rural/urban designations, and has calculated caseload and death rates per 100,000 people. Be aware that caseloads may reflect the availability of tests -- and the ability to turn around test results quickly -- rather than actual disease spread or true infection rates.

    This data is from the Hopkins dashboard that is updated regularly throughout the day. Like all organizations dealing with data, Hopkins is constantly refining and cleaning up their feed, so there may be brief moments where data does not appear correctly. At this link, you’ll find the Hopkins daily data reports, and a clean version of their feed.

    The AP is updating this dataset hourly at 45 minutes past the hour.

    Caveats

    • This data represents the number of cases and deaths reported by each state and has been collected by Johns Hopkins from a number of sources cited on their website.
    • In some cases, deaths or cases of people who've crossed state lines -- either to receive treatment or because they became sick and couldn't return home while traveling -- are reported in a state they aren't currently in, because of state reporting rules.
    • In some states, there are a number of cases not assigned to a specific county -- for those cases, the county name is "unassigned to a single county"
    • This data should be credited to Johns Hopkins University's COVID-19 tracking project. The AP is simply making it available here for ease of use for reporters and members.
    • Caseloads may reflect the availability of tests -- and the ability to turn around test results quickly -- rather than actual disease spread or true infection rates.
    • Population estimates at the county level are drawn from 2014-18 5-year estimates from the American Community Survey.
    • The Urban/Rural classification scheme is from the Center for Disease Control and Preventions's National Center for Health Statistics. It puts each county into one of six categories -- from Large Central Metro to Non-Core -- according to population and other characteristics. More details about the classifications can be found here.

    Johns Hopkins timeseries data - Johns Hopkins pulls data regularly to update their dashboard. Once a day, around 8pm EDT, Johns Hopkins adds the counts for all areas they cover to the timeseries file. These counts are snapshots of the latest cumulative counts provided by the source on that day. This can lead to inconsistencies if a source updates their historical data for accuracy, either increasing or decreasing the latest cumulative count. - Johns Hopkins periodically edits their historical timeseries data for accuracy. They provide a file documenting all errors in their timeseries files that they have identified and fixed here

    COVID-19 Stats & Trends

    Context

    This dataset seeks to provide insights into what has changed due to policies aimed at combating COVID-19 and evaluate the changes in community activities and its relation to reduced confirmed cases of COVID-19. The reports chart movement trends, compared to an expected baseline, over time (from 2020/02/15 to 2020/02/05) by geography (across 133 countries), as well as some other stats about the country that might help explain the evolution of the disease.

    1. Grocery & Pharmacy: Mobility trends for places like grocery markets, food warehouses, farmers' markets, specialty food shops, drug stores, and pharmacies.
    2. Parks: Mobility trends for places like national parks, public beaches, marinas, dog parks, plazas, and public gardens.
    3. Residential: Mobility trends for places of residence.
    4. Retail & Recreation: Mobility trends for places like restaurants, cafes, shopping centers, theme parks, museums, libraries, and movie theaters.
    5. Transit stations: Mobility trends for places like public transport hubs such as subway, bus, and train stations.
    6. Workplaces: Mobility trends for places of work.
    7. Total Cases: Total number of people infected with the SARS-CoV-2.
    8. Fatalities: Total number of deaths caused by CoV-19.
    9. Government Response Stringency Index: Additive score of nine indicators of government response to CoV-19: School closures, workplace closures, cancellation of public events, public information campaigns, stay at home policies, restrictions on internal movement, international travel controls, testing policy, and contact tracing.
    10. COVID-19 Testing: Total number of tests performed.
    11. Total Vaccinations: Total number of shots given.
    12. Total People Vaccinated: Total number of people given a shot.
    13. Total People Fully Vaccinated: Total number of people fully vaccinated (might require two shots of some vaccines).
    14. Population: Total number of inhabitants.
    15. Population Density per km2: Number of human inhabitants per square kilometer.
    16. Health System Index: Overall performance of the health system.
    17. Human Development Index (HDI): Summary index based on life expectancy at birth, expected years of schooling for children and mean years of schooling for adults, and GNI per capita.
    18. GDP (PPP) per capita: Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita based on Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), taking into account the relative cost of local goods, services and inflation rates of the country, rather than using international market exchange rates, which may distort the real differences in per capita income.
    19. Elderly Population (percentage): Percentage of the population above the age of 65 years old.

    This dataset displays pharmacies, clinics, and other locations with safe and effective COVID-19 medications. These medications require a prescription from a healthcare provider. Some locations, known as Test to Treat sites, give you the option to get tested, get assessed by a healthcare provider, and receive treatment – all in one visit. COVID-19 medications may be available at additional locations that are not shown in this dataset.

    The locations displayed have either self-attested they have inventory of Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir packaged with ritonavir), Lagevrio (molnupiravir), or Veklury (Remdesivir) within at least the last two months and/or reported participation in the Paxlovid Patient Assistance Program. Sites that have not reported in the last two weeks display a notification, "Inventory has not been reported in the last 2 weeks. Please contact the provider to make sure the product is available." Outpatient COVID-19 medications may be available at additional locations not listed on this website.

    All therapeutics identified in the locator not approved by the FDA must be used in alignment with the terms of the respective product’s Emergency Use Authorization. Visit COVID-19 Treatments and Therapeutics for more information on all treatment options.

    This website identifies sites that have commercially purchased inventory of COVID-19 treatments and, in some cases, may identify sites that have remaining, no-cost U.S. government distributed supply. Some sites may charge for services not covered by insurance. Some sites may offer telehealth services. This website is intended for informational purposes only and does not serve as an endorsement or recommendation for use of any of the locations listed on the sites.

    Clarification for DoD Facilities: Those individuals eligible for care in an MTF include Active Duty Service Members (ADSMs), covered beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Prime or Select, including TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS), TRICARE Retired Reserve (TRR) and TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) participants, TRICARE for Life beneficiaries, and individuals otherwise entitled by law to MTF care (e.g., regular retired members and their dependents who are not enrolled in TRICARE but who are otherwise eligible for MTF space-available care, certain foreign military members and their families registered in DEERS, and others).

Description

The New York Times is releasing a series of data files with cumulative counts of coronavirus cases in the United States, at the state and county level, over time. We are compiling this time series data from state and local governments and health departments in an attempt to provide a complete record of the ongoing outbreak.

Since the first reported coronavirus case in Washington State on Jan. 21, 2020, The Times has tracked cases of coronavirus in real time as they were identified after testing. Because of the widespread shortage of testing, however, the data is necessarily limited in the picture it presents of the outbreak.

We have used this data to power our maps and reporting tracking the outbreak, and it is now being made available to the public in response to requests from researchers, scientists and government officials who would like access to the data to better understand the outbreak.

The data begins with the first reported coronavirus case in Washington State on Jan. 21, 2020. We will publish regular updates to the data in this repository.
