    Description

    Background

    This Sqlite database contains data publicly available from GOV.UK and can be found here: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/. The data is available via a REST API and come data is available in CSV format. However, it can be difficult to pull all this data together, so this Sqlite database contains a number of tables which includes all the data imported via the API.

    How was this data generated?

    For more information on how to generate this database, and extract and load the data using the REST API, you can use the additional Jupyter Notebooks which can be found in the following Git Repo: https://github.com/happyadam73/c19-notebooks

    Currently this data runs up to 25 February 2022.

    NOTE: As of 31st January 2022, publish date based cases include all episodes but historic data has not been updated. It is recommended for historical analysis to use specimen date cases.     Description

    Due to changes in the collection and availability of data on COVID-19, this website will no longer be updated. The webpage will no longer be available as of 11 May 2023. On-going, reliable sources of data for COVID-19 are available via the COVID-19 dashboard and the UKHSA GLA Covid-19 Mobility Report Since March 2020, London has seen many different levels of restrictions - including three separate lockdowns and many other tiers/levels of restrictions, as well as easing of restrictions and even measures to actively encourage people to go to work, their high streets and local restaurants. This reports gathers data from a number of sources, including google, apple, citymapper, purple wifi and opentable to assess the extent to which these levels of restrictions have translated to a reductions in Londoners' movements. The data behind the charts below come from different sources. None of these data represent a direct measure of how well people are adhering to the lockdown rules - nor do they provide an exhaustive data set. Rather, they are measures of different aspects of mobility, which together, offer an overall impression of how people Londoners are moving around the capital. The information is broken down by use of public transport, pedestrian activity, retail and leisure, and homeworking. Public Transport For the transport measures, we have included data from google, Apple, CityMapper and Transport for London. They measure different aspects of public transport usage - depending on the data source.     Description

    The data source for this dataset is the NI Vaccine Management System (VMS). VMS holds vaccination reports for COVID-19 and influenza vaccines which were either administered in NI or to NI residents. This dataset is an aggregated summary of COVID-19 vaccinations recorded in VMS. It is effectively a day-by-day count of living people vaccinated by dose, age band (on the day that the dataset was extracted from VMS) and LGD of residence. Aggregated summary data from VMS is published daily to the NI COVID-19 Vaccinations Dashboard. This dataset is updated weekly and allows NI vaccination coverage to be included in the GOV.UK Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the UK dashboard.

    As announced on 7 June 2022, this will be the final publication of the Weekly Statistics for NHS Test and Trace (England). In line with the Government’s ‘Living with COVID-19’ strategy, most free testing in England ended on 1 April 2022. The subsequent reduction in testing numbers and across use cases has resulted in a reduction in the breadth of the statistics publication.     The publication of statistics for NHS Test and Trace (England) will end on 23 June 2022. Following policy changes to testing in the government’s plan for ‘Living with COVID-19’, including the end of free universal testing for the public on 1 April 2022, there has been an overall decline across all statistics within these publications. These publications will therefore be discontinued. Data will be published as usual on 9 June 2022 and 23 June 2022.

    This open data publication has moved to COVID-19 Statistical Data in Scotland (from 02/11/2022) Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China. Clinical presentation may range from mild-to-moderate illness to pneumonia or severe acute respiratory infection. This dataset provides information on demographic characteristics (age, sex, deprivation) of confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, as well as trend data regarding the wider impact of the virus on the healthcare system. Data includes information on primary care out of hours consultations, respiratory calls made to NHS24, contact with COVID-19 Hubs and Assessment Centres, incidents received by Scottish Ambulance Services (SAS), as well as COVID-19 related hospital admissions and admissions to ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Further data on the wider impact of the COVID-19 response, focusing on hospital admissions, unscheduled care and volume of calls to NHS24, is available on the COVID-19 Wider Impact Dashboard. There is a large amount of data being regularly published regarding COVID-19 (for example, Coronavirus in Scotland - Scottish Government and Deaths involving coronavirus in Scotland - National Records of Scotland.     This page provides a weekly summary of data on deaths related to COVID-19 published by NHS England and the Office for National Statistics. More frequent reporting on COVID-19 deaths is now available here, alongside data on cases, hospitalisations, and vaccinations. This update contains data on deaths related to COVID-19 from:

    NHS England COVID-19 Daily Deaths - last updated on 28 June 2022 with data up to and including 27 June 2022.
    
    
    ONS weekly deaths by Local Authority - last updated on 16 August 2022 with data up to and including 05 August 2022.
    

    Summary notes about each these sources are provided at the end of this document.

    Note on interpreting deaths data: statistics from the available sources differ in definition, timing and completeness. It is important to understand these differences when interpreting the data or comparing between sources.

    Weekly Key Points

    An additional 24 deaths in London hospitals of patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 and an additional 5 where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate were announced in the week ending 27 June 2022. This compares with 40 and 3 for the previous week. A total of 306 deaths in hospitals of patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 and 27 where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate were announced for England as whole. This compares with 301 and 26 for the previous week. The total number of COVID-19 deaths reported in London hospitals of patients who had tested positive for COVID-19 is now 19,102. The total number of deaths in London hospitals where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate is now 1,590. This compares to figures of 119,237 and 8,197 for English hospitals as a whole. Due to the delay between death occurrence and reporting, the estimated number of deaths to this point will be revised upwards over coming days These figures do not include deaths that occurred outside of hospitals. Data from ONS has indicated that the majority (79%) of COVID-19 deaths in London have taken place in hospitals.

    delays in the occurrence and subsequent reporting of deaths deaths occurring outside of hospitals not being included

    The total deaths reported up to a given point are therefore less than the actual number that have occurred by the same point. Delays in reporting NHS provide the following guidance regarding the delay between occurrence and reporting of deaths: Confirmation of COVID-19 diagnosis, death notification and reporting in central figures can take up to several days and the hospitals providing the data are under significant operational pressure. This means that the totals reported at 5pm on each day may not include all deaths that occurred on that day or on recent prior days. The data published by NHS England for reporting periods from April 1st onward includes both date of occurrence and date of reporting and so it is possible to illustrate the distribution of these reporting delays. This data shows that approximately 10% of COVID-19 deaths occurring in London hospitals are included in the reporting period ending on the same day, and that approximately two-thirds of deaths were reported by two days after the date of occurrence.

    Deaths outside of hospitals The data published by NHS England does not include deaths that occur outside of hospitals, i.e. those in homes, hospices, and care homes. ONS have published data for deaths by place of occurrence. This shows that, up to 05 August, 79% of deaths in London recorded as involving COVID-19 occurred in hospitals (this compares with 44% for all causes of death). This would suggest that the NHS England data may underestimate overall deaths from COVID-19 by around 20%.

    Description

    Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China. Clinical presentation may range from mild-to-moderate illness to pneumonia or severe acute respiratory infection. The COVID-19 pandemic has wider impacts on individuals' health, and their use of healthcare services, than those that occur as the direct result of infection. Reasons for this may include: * Individuals being reluctant to use health services because they do not want to burden the NHS or are anxious about the risk of infection. * The health service delaying preventative and non-urgent care such as some screening services and planned surgery. * Other indirect effects of interventions to control COVID-19, such as mental or physical consequences of distancing measures. This dataset provides information on trend data regarding the wider impact of the pandemic on the number of deaths in Scotland, derived from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) weekly deaths registration data. Data show recent trends in deaths (2020), whether COVID or non-COVID related, and historic trends for comparison (five-year average, 2015-2019). The recent trend data are shown by age group and sex, and the national data are also shown by broad area deprivation category (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation, SIMD). This data is also available on the COVID-19 Wider Impact Dashboard. Additional data sources relating to this topic area are provided in the Links section of the Metadata below. Information on COVID-19, including stay at home advice for people who are self-isolating and their households, can be found on NHS Inform.     This dataset supports the Mayor's equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) strategy published in 2018. It brings together publicly available data relevant to equalities in London into a series of measures. These will be updated over time to monitor the delivery of the strategy. After the Covid-19 pandemic struck in 2020, there was a need to capture and bring together appropriate data and research to monitor London through the recovery period. As a result, the GLA set up the London Covid-19 Resilience Dashboard and inequalities in London were monitored through this, while updates of the original EDI measures were discontinued. In November 2022 the Mayor published a new set of equality objectives to replace those published in the original strategy from 2018. As a result, the EDI measures have been adapted to reflect these new objectives and these will be updated on a regular basis. A series of dashboards has also been created from the latest set of EDI measures, which enable users to visualise the data. The Mayor's Annual Equality Reports set out the progress made against the latest equality, diversity and inclusion objectives published in November 2022.

    Description

    Weekly contact matrices calculated from data collected as part of the UK arm of the CoMix survey. All contact matrices were calculated over two survey rounds (SR) of data to account for alternating panels (the indicated SR and the previous SR). Full details of composition can be found in Munday et. al. [1]. Contact matrices are provided for age-groups consistent with publicly available case data from the UKHSA COVID-19 dashboard (0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+) and publicly available aggregates of infection and antibody prevalence from the ONS COVID-19 infection survey (2-10, 11-15, 16-24, 25-34, 35-49, 49-69 and 70+). The data is provided in qs files as 1000 bootstrapped samples of each contact matrix for weekly 'survey rounds' between 19 and 94 (see directory "survey_round_dates.csv"). The files that begin with UKHSA contain the contact matrices for the age stratification of the UKHSA COVID-19 dashboard case data. The files that begin with ONS contain the contact matrices for the age stratification of the ONS COVID-19 infection survey.

This dataset provides information on number of new daily confirmed cases, negative cases, deaths, testing by NHS Labs (Pillar 1) and UK Government (Pillar 2), new hospital admissions, new ICU admissions, hospital and ICU bed occupancy from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Scotland, including cumulative totals and population rates at Scotland, NHS Board and Council Area levels (where possible). Seven day positive cases and population rates are also presented by Neighbourhood Area (Intermediate Zone 2011). Information on how PHS publish small are COVID figures is available on the PHS website. Information on demographic characteristics (age, sex, deprivation) of confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, as well as trend data regarding the wider impact of the virus on the healthcare system is provided in this publication. Data includes information on primary care out of hours consultations, respiratory calls made to NHS24, contact with COVID-19 Hubs and Assessment Centres, incidents received by Scottish Ambulance Services (SAS), as well as COVID-19 related hospital admissions and admissions to ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Further data on the wider impact of the COVID-19 response, focusing on hospital admissions, unscheduled care and volume of calls to NHS24, is available on the COVID-19 Wider Impact Dashboard. Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a new strain of coronavirus first identified in Wuhan, China. Clinical presentation may range from mild-to-moderate illness to pneumonia or severe acute respiratory infection. COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation on 12 March 2020. We now have spread of COVID-19 within communities in the UK. Public Health Scotland no longer reports the number of COVID-19 deaths within 28 days of a first positive test from 2nd June 2022. Please refer to NRS death certificate data as the single source for COVID-19 deaths data in Scotland. In the process of updating the hospital admissions reporting to include reinfections, we have had to review existing methodology. In order to provide the best possible linkage of COVID-19 cases to hospital admissions, each admission record is required to have a discharge date, to allow us to better match the most appropriate COVID positive episode details to an admission. This means that in cases where the discharge date is missing (either due to the patient still being treated, delays in discharge information being submitted or data quality issues), it has to be estimated. Estimating a discharge date for historic records means that the average stay for those with missing dates is reduced, and fewer stays overlap with records of positive tests. The result of these changes has meant that approximately 1,200 historic COVID admissions have been removed due to improvements in methodology to handle missing discharge dates, while approximately 820 have been added to the cumulative total with the inclusion of reinfections. COVID-19 hospital admissions are now identified as the following: A patient's first positive PCR or LFD test of the episode of infection (including reinfections at 90 days or more) for COVID-19 up to 14 days prior to admission to hospital, on the day of their admission or during their stay in hospital. If a patient's first positive PCR or LFD test of the episode of infection is after their date of discharge from hospital, they are not included in the analysis.     This feature service contains COVID-19 data automatically updated from the Public Health England (PHE) API service, daily. Using this API, this service takes the current day request minus two days. Therefore the data will always be two days behind. This is a result of the delay between PHE's specimen date and reporting date.The Polygon Layers, which all contain spatial data, provide information about the latest cumulative figures at three geographies; Local Authority, Regions and Nations. The Tables, which are not spatially aware, provide historical data for each feature. The format of these tables allow you to use the Join tool with the Polygon Layers and create a time enabled layer. This can be used within a dashboard or on the animation tool to view patterns over time.

    Due to a misclassification of 2 subgroups within the Asian and Asian British and Black and Black British ethnic categories, the proportions of deaths for these ethnic categories in reports published between week 27 2021 and week 29 2021 were incorrect. These have been corrected from week 30 2021 report onwards.

    The impact of the correction specifically affects the proportion of deaths with an Asian and Asian British and/or Black and Black British ethnic categories. The total number of deaths reported was unaffected. Other ethnicity data included in the reports were not affected by this issue.

    GLA Covid-19 Mobility Report

    Since March 2020, London has seen many different levels of restrictions - including three separate lockdowns and many other tiers/levels of restrictions, as well as easing of restrictions and even measures to actively encourage people to go to work, their high streets and local restaurants. This reports gathers data from a number of sources, including google, apple, citymapper, purple wifi and opentable to assess the extent to which these levels of restrictions have translated to a reductions in Londoners' movements.

    The data behind the charts below come from different sources. None of these data represent a direct measure of how well people are adhering to the lockdown rules - nor do they provide an exhaustive data set. Rather, they are measures of different aspects of mobility, which together, offer an overall impression of how people Londoners are moving around the capital. The information is broken down by use of public transport, pedestrian activity, retail and leisure, and homeworking.

    For the transport measures, we have included data from google, Apple, CityMapper and Transport for London. They measure different aspects of public transport usage - depending on the data source. Each of the lines in the chart below represents a percentage of a pre-pandemic baseline.

Background

This Sqlite database contains data publicly available from GOV.UK and can be found here: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/. The data is available via a REST API and come data is available in CSV format. However, it can be difficult to pull all this data together, so this Sqlite database contains a number of tables which includes all the data imported via the API.

How was this data generated?

For more information on how to generate this database, and extract and load the data using the REST API, you can use the additional Jupyter Notebooks which can be found in the following Git Repo: https://github.com/happyadam73/c19-notebooks

Currently this data runs up to 25 February 2022.

NOTE: As of 31st January 2022, publish date based cases include all episodes but historic data has not been updated. It is recommended for historical analysis to use specimen date cases.
