    Description

The public and private per capita health expenditure differs significantly by country. As of 2023, the United States had by far the highest public per capita spending worldwide. Moreover, the U.S. had the second-highest private expenditure on health globally just after Switzerland. Health expenditures globally Health expenditures include the consumption of health goods, services and public health programs as well as insurance and government spending. Globally, health expenditures are on the rise. Among all countries the average per capita health expenditure is projected to see an increase of over 30 percent from the 2019 totals by the year 2050. Despite the growing expenditures, there are still countries with relatively low health expenditures. The countries with the lowest governmental health expenditure include South Sudan, Eritrea and Bangladesh. Health expenditures spotlight: the U.S. In 2021 the U.S. national health expenditure was at an all-time high. However, the projections indicate that total health expenditures will increase even more. The per capita health expenditures for the U.S. looked equally grim, with 2021 projected to be the most expensive year for health care on record. Despite having seen a significant increase in the total cost of health care in the U.S., trends indicate that the annual percentage change in health expenditures is decreasing over time.

    Description

Among OECD member countries, the United States had the highest percentage of gross domestic product spent on health care as of 2023. The U.S. spent nearly 16 percent of its GDP on health care services. Germany, France and Japan followed the U.S. with distinctly smaller percentages. The United States had both significantly higher private and public spending on health compared with other developed countries. Why compare OECD countries?OECD stands for Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. It is an economic organization consisting of 38 members, mostly high-income countries and committed to democratic principles and market economy. This makes OECD statistics more comparable than statistics of developed and undeveloped countries. Health economics is an important matter for the OECD, even more since increasing health costs and an aging population have become an issue for many developed countries. Health costs in the U.S.  A higher GDP share spent on health care does not automatically lead to a better functioning health system. In the case of the U.S., high spending is mainly because of higher costs and prices, not due to higher utilization. For example, physicians’ salaries are much higher in the U.S. than in other comparable countries. A doctor in the U.S. earns almost twice as much as the average physician in Germany. Pharmaceutical spending per capita is also distinctly higher in the United States. Furthermore, the U.S. also spends more on health administrative costs compare to other wealthy countries.

    Description

Description:The data compilation in hand, based on selected official data, gives an overview over the development of public health expenditures in the Federal Republic of Germany. The German health care system is organized in a confusing way. It consists of different coverage areas, institutions and services. A number of service providers and cost bearers are involved. To be nevertheless able to measure and structure the entire dimension of the expenditures, the Federal Statistical office publishes a health expenditure calculation report on a regular basis. The primary data are compiled from a high number of individual statistics and individual documents. The development of the expenditure for health (from 1970 on in the form of the old health expenditure calculation and from 1992 on in the form of the new calculations) is from primary economic importance and the information on the structure of the cost bearers is an important decision making factor for the construction of health care policies in Germany. The health expenditure calculations of the Federal Statistical office also provides detailed data on different cost bearers, on the use of the funds by services and on the service providing institutions. This not only includes the expenditures of statutory and private health insurance but also expenditures on health care of private households, employers and the state. The subdivision of health expenditure according to the old health expenditure calculation (those results are presented until 1998) was structured by bearer of costs, types of services and types of expenditures. According to the old health expenditure calculation, income benefits (such as benefits for subsistence for sick people or for those unable to work in form of transitional payments, pre-retirement for those unable to work and income replacement in case of sickness or due to maternity) are part of the types of expenditure. The new healthcare expenditure calculations are an advancement of the older form and there are more orientated towards the system of the national accounts (those results are presented from 1992 on) and it has four dimensions of representation: bearer of costs, types of expenditure, types of services (newly defined) and the newly added dimension of institutions. This new institution dimension gives the possibility to sort service providers in different categories. The classification of types of services was further developed for the new health expenditure calculations and it is significantly different from the old one. Services are broken down consequently by different goods. The old way of calculation was not easily international comparable: the new calculations are orientated towards international requirements and follow the so called “System of Health Accounts” concept of the OECD. According to this system, it measures the expenditure for the last consumptions of goods and services of the healthcare sector and investments in-patient health facilities. Health expenditure includes all goods and services aiming prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and nursing as well as costs for administration and investments. This calculation indicates who pays what and where relevant goods are produced. Income benefits (summarized under types of expenditures in the old way of health expenditure calculations) like for example daily hospital benefits are in the new way of health expenditure calculations – according to the international system – shown separately and are no more part of the health care expenditures but part of the broader health related sector. Expenditures for research and education are not part of the sum of health care expenditures since 2004, instead they are separately declared. The development of health care expenditure is shown in relation to the gross domestic product. The GDP indicates the economic performance of a country (value of all produced goods and services in a certain period, without intermediate consumption). Therefore it is interesting to observe the ratio of the GDP and the total health care expenditures. Data tables in HISTAT:A. Predictive Presymptomatic Testing Market Size 2024-2028

The predictive presymptomatic testing market size is forecast to increase by USD 2.59 billion, at a CAGR of 10.03% between 2023 and 2028. The global Predictive Presymptomatic Testing market is experiencing significant growth due to several key factors. Firstly, the increasing healthcare spending worldwide is driving demand for advanced diagnostic tools and genetic testing. Secondly, the rise in awareness toward early screening of genetic disorders has led to an increasing demand for predictive presymptomatic testing. This testing allows individuals with a family history of certain genetic disorders to identify their risk and take preventative measures before symptoms appear. Genetic counseling plays a crucial role in this process, providing essential information and support to individuals and families. As a result, the market for predictive presymptomatic testing is expected to grow steadily in the coming years.

    Market Dynamic

In the realm of wearable technology, wrist watches and jewelry have evolved beyond mere accessories into functional devices that monitor health risks and track sleep patterns. Innovations like augmented reality and virtual reality are reshaping how we interact with information and environments, enhancing experiences through speech recognition and immersive visuals. Devices such as Google Glass integrate seamlessly into daily life, offering real-time data and enhancing safety with features like camera integration for recording events. For active lifestyles, wearables like heart rate monitors and shoes equipped with sensors provide insights into exercise intensity and performance. The development of coexistence testing ensures these technologies work harmoniously without interference, akin to how pigeons navigate without colliding in crowded skies. From tracking steps to enhancing productivity, wearable technology continues to blur the lines between fashion and functionality, promising a future where innovation meets everyday convenience.

    Key Market Driver

The increasing healthcare spending worldwide is one of the key drivers supporting the predictive presymptomatic testing market growth. The governments of developed nations such as the US, Germany, and others have increased their healthcare expenditure in recent years. Through the support of the governments and a surge in healthcare expenditures, global private and public healthcare facilities and not-for-profit organizations (NPOs) are able to provide their services to patients. According to The World Health Organization (WHO), global spending on healthcare continually rose between 2000 and 2018 and reached USD 8.3 trillion or 10% of global GDP. Thus, the increasing expenditure in the global healthcare sector and the increase in government aid to healthcare providers will boost the growth of the global predictive presymptomatic testing market during the forecast period.

    Significant Market Trends

The growing prevalence of genetic diseases is one of the key predictive presymptomatic testing market trends that is contributing to the market growth. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the US, more than 1.6 million patients are getting diagnosed with cancer every year, with almost 600,000 fatalities. The incidence of genetic disorders is gradually increasing. Moreover, the increasing incidence of chronic diseases and genetic disorders leads researchers and scientists to opt for predictive presymptomatic testing for diagnosing and treating patients. Researchers are increasingly focusing on predictive presymptomatic testing due to its high impact on diagnosing and treating diseases using gene therapy and recombinant vaccines. Hence, an increase in the prevalence of genetic disorders is expected to drive the growth of the global predictive presymptomatic testing market during the forecast period.

    Major Market Challenge

The high cost of tests is one of the factors hindering the predictive presymptomatic testing market growth. For instance, in 2019, the per capita healthcare expenditure was USD 7,138 in Switzerland, USD 6,748 in Norway, and USD 6,731 in Germany. Additionally, in developing countries such as India, China, and others, due to a lack of resources and low per capita income, patients are unable to avail themselves of predictive presymptomatic test kits. The absence of proper healthcare infrastructure and less amount of government aid received in the form of medical expense reimbursement further acts as a challenge for the patients in these countries. Thus, the global per capita healthcare cost is expected to increase during the forecast period. This will negatively affect the growth of the global predictive presymptomatic testing market during the forecast p

    Description

In 2022, U.S. national health expenditure as a share of its gross domestic product (GDP) reached 17.3 percent, this was a decrease on the previous year. The United States has the highest health spending based on GDP share among developed countries. Both public and private health spending in the U.S. is much higher than other developed countries. Why the U.S. pays so much moreWhile private health spending in Canada stays at around three percent and in Germany under two percent of the gross domestic product, it is nearly nine percent in the United States. Another reason for high costs can be found in physicians’ salaries, which are much higher in the U.S. than in other wealthy countries. A general practitioner in the U.S. earns nearly twice as much as the average physician in other high-income countries. Additionally, medicine spending per capita is also significantly higher in the United States. Finally, inflated health care administration costs are another of the predominant factors which make health care spending in the U.S. out of proportion. It is important to state that Americans do not pay more because they have a higher health care utilization, but mainly because of higher prices. Expected developmentsBy 2031, it is expected that health care spending in the U.S. will reach nearly one fifth of the nation’s gross domestic product. Or in dollar-terms, health care expenditures will accumulate to about seven trillion U.S. dollars in total.

    Description

The amount of provincial/territorial government spending per capita in Canada is highly dependent on territory or region. It was forecasted that in 2024, Nunavut would have the highest government health expenditures per capita among all territories and provinces with some 19,344 Canadian dollars being spent on health care per capita. Ontario, on the other hand, had one of the lowest government health expenditures per capita forecasted for 2024 with just 5,309 Canadian dollars being spent per person, less than a third of Nunavut. Health spending in Canada Canada is one of the countries with the highest health expenditures globally. Other countries include the U.S., Germany, and France. Health care spending in Canada, much like the rest of the world, has been increasing. Recent data suggests that hospitals, drugs, and physicians account for the largest proportions of health care spending in Canada. Canadian medication costs Despite being one of the top health expenses in Canada, the expenditures on drugs as a percentage of the total health spending in Canada has actually decreased over time. There are several drug classes that have exceeded others in terms of spending. Tumor necrosis factor alpha inhibitors, antivirals for hepatitis C, and anti-neovascularization agents were the drug classes that accounted for the largest proportions of total public drug program spending in 2022. Alongside the increased spending in prescription drugs in Canada, non-prescription drug spending has also increased in Canada.

This was followed by France and Austria, which spent 11.9 percent and 11.4 percent on health, respectively. Performance of the NHS in the UK  Individuals in the UK still regard the NHS as a world class health service and remain happy with the high level of care provided by the organization. Although waiting times have been getting worse in the A&E department over the years. The NHS has been falling behind the target that 95 percent of patients should be seen within four hours of arrival. As a result, the primary reasons for dissatisfaction with the NHS among the public are the length of time required to get a GP or hospital appointment and the lack of staff.
