    Description

    The Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) Database depicts flood risk information and supporting data used to develop the risk data. The primary risk classifications used are the 1-percent-annual-chance flood event, the 0.2-percent-annual- chance flood event, and areas of minimal flood risk. The DFIRM Database is derived from Flood Insurance Studies (FISs), previously published Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), flood hazard analyses performed in support of the FISs and FIRMs, and new mapping data, where available. The FISs and FIRMs are published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The file is georeferenced to earth's surface using the Nevada West (FIPS 2703) State Plane projection and coordiante system The specifications for the horizontal control of DFIRM data files are consistent with those required for mapping at a scale of 1:12,000.

    Description

    This county boundary polygon is based off of the parcel polygons, which are available from our Open Data Portal. This boundary polygon was generated by a Dissolve GP process. It is not to be used for legal purposes or border disputes, and is shared with the sole purpose of adding a reasonable estimate of the County Boundary in the spirit of general mapping purposes.The geometry of the parcel polygons, upon which this layer is based, are derived by a manual process of entering coordinate geometry as defined by a parcel's Deed. As not all Deeds agree with eachother, and some of the older definitions weren't perfectly accurate, this creates conflicts between parcels that inevitably lead to slight distortions. Again, these distortions are small enough to make the data useful for mapping purposes; to create a "best available" view of the state of the metes and bounds of the County and its subsequent parcels.This particular view has the CDN enabled in order for it to perform better for viral maps and apps.

    1:24,000 scale Geologic Map of the Yerington district, Lyon County, Nevada, Map M77. Detailed geologic mapping by J. M. Proffett, Jr., and J. H. Dilles in 1984. The geologic map of the Yerington district has been made by geologists of the Atlantic Richfield Company. Geologic mapping started in the early 1950's when the Yerington porphyry copper deposit was put in to production and Anaconda began exploration in the distrct. Geologic Map includes 4 cross sections and description of 53 units. The GIS work was in support of the U.S. Geological Survey COGEOMAP program. The Geodatabase specifies feature datasets and feature classes, together with feature attributes, subtypes and domains, suitable for the printed geologic map. In addition to basic geology (lithology, contacts and faults, etc.), the maps may include metamorphic overprints, cross-sections, and explanatory legend-graphics such as correlation charts, used to supplement columnar legends. Base map: east half from map prepared fro Anaconda by Olympus Aerial Surveys, 1968; west half from U.S. Geological Survey Wabuska, Yerington, Como, and Wellington 15-minute Quadrangles, 1957.

    This digital geologic map of the Nevada Test Site (NTS) and vicinity, as well as its accompanying digital geophysical maps, are compiled at 1:100,000 scale. The map compilation presents new polygon (geologic map unit contacts), line (fault, fold axis, metamorphic isograd, dike, and caldera wall) and point (structural attitude) vector data for the NTS and vicinity, Nye, Lincoln, and Clark Counties, Nevada, and Inyo County, California. The map area covers two 30 x 60-minute quadrangles-the Pahute Mesa quadrangle to the north and the Beatty quadrangle to the south-plus a strip of 7.5-minute quadrangles on the east side-72 quadrangles in all. In addition to the NTS, the map area includes the rest of the southwest Nevada volcanic field, part of the Walker Lane, most of the Amargosa Desert, part of the Funeral and Grapevine Mountains, some of Death Valley, and the northern Spring Mountains. This geologic map improves on previous geologic mapping of the same area (Wahl and others, 1997) by providing new and updated Quaternary and bedrock geology, new geophysical interpretations of faults beneath the basins, and improved GIS coverages. Concurrent publications to this one include a new isostatic gravity map (Ponce and others, 1999) and a new aeromagnetic map (Ponce, 1999).

    1:24,000 scale Geologic Map of the Riverside Quadrangle, Clark County, Nevada, USGS GQ1770. Detailed geologic mapping by Van S. Williams, Robert G. Bohannon, and D.L. Hoover in 1997. Previous work includes the Geologic map of the Jacobs Well and southern part of the Elbow Canyon quadrangles (Bohannon, 1991). Geologic Map includes 2 cross sections and description of 56 units. The GIS work was in support of the U.S. Geological Survey COGEOMAP program.
