    Description

Note: Starting April 27, 2023 updates change from daily to weekly. Summary The cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths among Maryland residents. Description The MD COVID-19 - Total Confirmed Deaths Statewide data layer is a collection of the statewide confirmed COVID-19 related deaths that have been reported each day by the Vital Statistics Administration. A death is classified as confirmed if the person had a laboratory-confirmed positive COVID-19 test result. Some data on deaths may be unavailable due to the time lag between the death, typically reported by a hospital or other facility, and the submission of the complete death certificate. Probable deaths are available from the MD COVID-19 - Total Probable Deaths Statewide data layer. Update 5/27/21: The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Vital Statistics Administration (VSA) revised the state’s COVID-19 data to include deaths that were not properly classified by medical certifiers over the past year. VSA identified these deaths as COVID-19 deaths through an information reconciliation process utilizing other sources of data. Summary This layer has been DEPRECATED (last updated 11/17/2022). This was formerly a weekly update. The Outbreak-Associated Cases in Congregate Living data dashboard on coronavirus.maryland.gov was redesigned on 11/17/21 to align with other outbreak reporting. Visit https://opendata.maryland.gov/dataset/MD-COVID-19-Congregate-Outbreak/ey5n-qn5s to view Outbreak-Associated Cases in Congregate Living data as reported after 11/17/21. Deaths at Maryland facilities where at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 is present for the reporting period. Description The MD COVID-19 - Number of Deaths by Affected Congregate Facility data layer is a collection of the number of deaths in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, group homes of 10 or more and state and local facilities where at least one positive COVID-19 test result has been reported for the reporting period. Data are reported to MDH by local health departments, the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services and the Department of Juvenile Services. To appear on the list, facilities report at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 over the prior 14 days. Facilities are removed from the list when health officials determine 14 days have passed with no new cases and no tests pending. The list provides a point-in-time picture of COVID-19 case activity among these facilities. Numbers reported for each facility listed reflect totals ever reported for deaths. Data are updated once weekly. Description

NOTE THIS LAYER IS DEPRECATED (last updated 6/7/2022). This was formerly a weekly update. Summary The cumulative total of confirmed COVID-19 cases that have been entered into covidLINK and have been reached for contact tracing interviews as of the date of report. Description As of 12/29/21, contact tracing data, including case counts and percentages, reflect fluctuations in case reporting resulting from a network security incident. In addition, high risk _location and large gathering questions were removed from the contact tracing interview questionnaire, as the questions no longer provided actionable information on potential exposure locations due to high levels of COVID-19 community transmission. As of 1/21/22, MDH implemented a new outbound email and text-based contact tracing web survey procedure, reflected in ""Outreach within 24 hours"" metrics." The MD COVID-19 - Contact Tracing Cases Reached and Interviewed data layer reflects the cumulative total of confirmed COVID-19 cases that have been entered into covidLINK and been reached for contact tracing interviews as of the date of report. Individuals that responded to outreach attempts and were verified as the intended call recipient are considered successfully reached. Cases are considered interviewed if they have completed the case investigation interview. Not responding to calls is the primary reason cases are not successfully reached. For cases reached, reasons for not completing an interview include scheduling conflict, hospitalization/incapacitation, and refusal to participate. Data are updated weekly on Wednesday during the 10 a.m. hour (data is reported through the previous Saturday). Terms of Use The Spatial Data, and the information therein, (collectively the "Data") is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed, implied, or statutory. The user assumes the entire risk as to quality and performance of the Data. No guarantee of accuracy is granted, nor is any responsibility for reliance thereon assumed. In no event shall the State of Maryland be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages of any kind. The State of Maryland does not accept liability for any damages or misrepresentation caused by inaccuracies in the Data or as a result to changes to the Data, nor is there responsibility assumed to maintain the Data in any manner or form. The Data can be freely distributed as long as the metadata entry is not modified or deleted. Any data derived from the Data must acknowledge the State of Maryland in the metadata.
