    IntroductionIRWIN ArcGIS Online GeoPlatform Services The Integrated Reporting of Wildland-Fire Information (IRWIN) Production data is replicated every 60 seconds to the ArcGIS Online GeoPlatform organization so that read-only views can be provided for consumers. This replicated view is called the hosted datastore. The “IRWIN Data” group is a set of Feature Layer views based on the replicated IRWIN layers. These feature layers provide a near real-time feed of all valid IRWIN data. All incidents that have been shared through the integration service since May 20, 2014 are available through this service. The incident data provides the location of existing fires, size, conditions and several other attributes that help classify fires. The IRWIN Data service allows users to create a web map, share it with their organization, or pull it into ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro for more in-depth analysis.InstructionsTo allow the emergency management GIS staff to join the IRWIN Data group, they will need to set up an ArcGIS Online account through our account manager. Please send the response to Samantha Gibbes (Samantha.C.Gibbes@saic.com) and Kayloni Ahtong (kayloni_ahtong@ios.doi.gov).     The Viewshed analysis layer is used to identify visible areas. You specify the places you are interested in, either from a file or interactively, and the Viewshed service combines this with Esri-curated elevation data to create output polygons of visible areas. Some questions you can answer with the Viewshed task include:What areas can I see from this location? What areas can see me?Can I see the proposed wind farm?What areas can be seen from the proposed fire tower?The maximum number of input features is 1000.Viewshed has the following optional parameters:Maximum Distance: The maximum distance to calculate the viewshed.Maximum Distance Units: The units for the Maximum Distance parameter. The default is meters.DEM Resolution: The source elevation data; the default is 90m resolution SRTM. Other options include 30m, 24m, 10m, and Finest.Observer Height: The height above the surface of the observer. The default value of 1.75 meters is an average height of a person. If you are looking from an elevation location such as an observation tower or a tall building, use that height instead.Observer Height Units: The units for the Observer Height parameter. The default is meters.Surface Offset: The height above the surface of the object you are trying to see. The default value is 0. If you are trying to see buildings or wind turbines add their height here.Surface Offset Units: The units for the Surface Offset parameter. The default is meters.Generalize Viewshed Polygons: Determine if the viewshed polygons are to be generalized or not. The viewshed calculation is based upon a raster elevation model which creates a result with stair-stepped edges. To create a more pleasing appearance, and improve performance, the default behavior is to generalize the polygons. This generalization will not change the accuracy of the result for any location more than one half of the DEM's resolution.By default, this tool currently works worldwide between 60 degrees north and 56 degrees south based on the 3 arc-second (approximately 90 meter) resolution SRTM dataset. Depending upon the DEM resolution pick by the user, different data sources will be used by the tool. For 24m, tool will use global dataset WorldDEM4Ortho (excluding the counties of Azerbaijan, DR Congo and Ukraine) 0.8 arc-second (approximately 24 meter) from Airbus Defence and Space GmbH. For 30m, tool will use 1 arc-second resolution data in North America (Canada, United States, and Mexico) from the USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED), SRTM DEM-S dataset from Geoscience Australia in Australia and SRTM data between 60 degrees north and 56 degrees south in the remaining parts of the world (Africa, South America, most of Europe and continental Asia, the East Indies, New Zealand, and islands of the western Pacific). For 10m, tool will use 1/3 arc-second resolution data in the continental United States from USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED) and approximately 10 meter data covering Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Austria, Spain, Japan Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Italy, Northern Ireland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein from various authoritative sources.To learn more, read the developer documentation for Viewshed or follow the Learn ArcGIS exercise called I Can See for Miles and Miles.     This cached tile service of 2015 WorldView Orthoimagery may be added to ArcMap and other GIS software and applications. The Web service was created in ArcMap 10.3 using orthorectified imagery in mosaic datasets and published to a tile package. The package was published as service that is hosted at MassGIS' ArcGIS Online organizational account.When creating the service in ArcMap, the display settings (stretching, brightness and contrast) were modified individually for each mosaic dataset in order to achieve the best possible uniform appearance across the state; however, because of the different acquisition dates and satellites, seams between strips are visible at smaller scales.     This map features a multi-resolution terrain layer for elevation displayed using the function for tinted hillshade. Terrain represents ground surface elevation and is based on a digital terrain model (DTM) where the lowest measured elevation values have been favored, and features such as structures and vegetation have been eliminated, leaving the best estimate of where the ground surface would be.     This map features forests for the Caribbean, which are provided here as an excerpted subset of the World Land Cover 30m BaseVue 2013 layer. Separating forests is useful as a cartographic layer on environmentally oriented maps and analytically as a basis for ecosystem and habitat definition.

    Dataset Summary

    BaseVue 2013 is a commercial global, land use / land cover (LULC) product developed by MDA. BaseVue covers the Earth’s entire land area, excluding Antarctica. BaseVue is independently derived from roughly 9,200 Landsat 8 images and is the highest spatial resolution (30m), most current LULC product available. The capture dates for the Landsat 8 imagery range from April 11, 2013 to June 29, 2014. The following 4 classes of forest are featured in this layer:
    • Deciduous Forest: Trees > 3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% inter-mixture with evergreen species) that seasonally lose their leaves, except Larch.
    • Evergreen Forest: Trees >3 meters in height, canopy closure >35% (<25% inter-mixture with deciduous species), of species that do not lose leaves. (will include coniferous Larch regardless of deciduous nature).
    • Woody Wetlands: Areas where forest or shrubland vegetation accounts for greater than 20% of vegetative cover and the soil or substrate periodically is saturated with, or covered by water. Only used within the continental U.S.
    • Mixed Forest: Areas dominated by trees generally greater than 5 meters tall, and greater than 20% of total vegetation cover. Neither deciduous nor evergreen species are greater than 75% of total tree cover. Only used within the continental U.S.

    This layer has query, identify, and export image services available. The layer is restricted to an 16,000 x 16,000 pixel limit, which represents an area of nearly 300 miles on a side. This layer is part of a larger collection of landscape layers that you can use to perform a wide variety of mapping and analysis tasks.

    This high resolution imagery of Massachusetts during leaf-off conditions in the Spring of 2015 was acquired by DigitalGlobe™ of Longmont, Colorado.

    MassGIS had the WorldView-2 and WorldView-3 satellites tasked to collect swaths of panchromatic and multispectral imagery in 43 separate overflights from March 16 - May 7, 2015. WorldView-2 operates at an altitude of 770 km (478 mi.), and WorldView-3 at 617 km (383 mi.).

    The pixel resolutions of the delivered data varied due to off-nadir viewing angles and the altitudes of the sensors:

    0.46 - 0.73 m panchromatic and 1.87 - 2.94 m multispectral (WorldView-2) 0.40 - 0.46 m panchromatic and 1.60 - 1.83 m multispectral (WorldView-3)

    Pixels closest to nadir (the point directly below the sensor) have a better resolution than those farthest from nadir. U.S. regulation requires imagery to be resampled to a minimum of .40 m pan and 1.6m multispectral.This Web service was created in ArcMap 10.3 and published to a tile package and is hosted at MassGIS' organizational ArcGIS Online account. In ArcMap the display settings (stretching, brightness and contrast) were modified for each mosaic dataset in order to achieve the best possible uniform appearance across the state; however, because of the different acquisition dates and satellites seams are visible at smaller scales.See metadata for full details.

Conditional logic in webform for the newly published Open Drainage Survey was not calculating properly leading to some records with "Undetermined" status and priority. The Road Erosion Inventory Survey123 questions for Open Drainage Roads are being streamlined to make assessments faster. Coming April 1st, the survey will be changed to only ask if there is erosion depending on if the corresponding practice type is failing. This aims at using erosion as an indicator to measure the success of each of the four Open Drainage road elements to handle stormwater: crown, berm, drainage, turnout.March 29, 2023. For MRGP permitting, Lyndonville Village (GEOID 5041950) has merged with Lyndonville Town (GEOID 5000541725). 121 segments and 14 outlets have been updated to reflect the administrative change. December 8, 2023. The Open Drainage Road Inventory survey has been updated for the 2024 field season.     How do I update a survey when a new one is available?While the Survey123 app will notify you and update it for you, we've experienced some select-one questions having duplicate choices. It's a best practice to delete the old survey and download the new one.     Open Survey123 and open a blank REI form (Collect button) Note: it's important to open a blank form so you don't save the same segment id for all your surveys Fill-in your 'Name' and 'Organization' and clear the 'Date of Assessment field' (x button). Using the favorites menu in the top-right corner you can use the current state of your survey to 'Set as favorite answers.' Close survey and 'Save this survey in Drafts.' Use Collector to launch survey from selected feature (segment or outlet). Using the favorites menu again, 'Paste answers from favorite.

    What if the map doesn't have the outlet or road segment I need to inventory for the MRGP? Go Directly to Survey123 and complete the appropriate Road Erosion Inventory and submit the data to DEC. The survey includes a Geopoint (location) that we can use to determine where you completed the inventory.
