This dataset reflects reported incidents of crime (with the exception of murders where data exists for each victim) that occurred in the City of Chicago from 2001 to present, minus the most recent seven days. Data is extracted from the Chicago Police Department's CLEAR (Citizen Law Enforcement Analysis and Reporting) system. In order to protect the privacy of crime victims, addresses are shown at the block level only and specific locations are not identified. In APD's opinion these cases have met the FBI's definition of a hate crime, as well as the State's and Federal Law's definition of a hate crime. DATASET DESCRIPTION This dataset contains information on both 911 calls (usually referred to as Calls for Service or Dispatched Incidents) and officer-initiated incidents recorded in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. These are differentiated by the Incident Type field, defined below. This data excludes records that were cancelled after being identified as duplicates of the same incident, such as when two 911 calls are made for the same incident. It also excludes records that were cancelled because they were handled by another agency such as Austin Fire or Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services or because they were found to not require a police response. GENERAL ORDERS RELATING TO THIS DATA: The Department has a responsibility to protect life and property and to provide service to the residents of Austin.
