The census of population, households and dwellings in the Republic of Croatia in 2021 was conducted in the period from 13 September to 14 November 2021, according to the situation on 31 August 2021 at 24:00, which is considered a critical moment of the Census. Census data are used exclusively for statistical purposes and are presented exclusively in aggregate (aggregated) form at the level of the Republic of Croatia, statistical regions of the 2nd level, counties, cities/municipalities and settlements. Population data were published by age (age groups 0-14, 15-64, 65 and above) and sex (total, men, women). In addition, these data were also published at the network level 1 000 m. When protecting the aggregated data of the 2021 Census at population network level of 1x1 km² (‘D’ – protected), the minimum number of units rule applies, protecting aggregated data relating to less than 4 statistical units. In the event that confidential protected information can be calculated on the basis of other data, that information shall also be protected in order to ensure secondary confidentiality.
Distribution of population by age groups and sex across cities/municipalities from the 2021 Census – INSPIRE is a network service that serves harmonised data according to the INSPIRE theme “Population distribution” and the INSPIRE theme “Statistical units- vector”, and the original data are taken from the population statistics by age and sex from the 2021 Census. of the Croatian Bureau of Statistics and Spatial Data on the Borders of Cities and Municipalities from the Register of Spatial Units of the State Geodetic Administration. The data are available for download in gml 3.2.1 and json format and contain two spatial object classes, one for statistical data - ‘Statistical Distribution’ and one for the spatial representation ‘AreaStatisticalUnit’. Statistical distribution shows the Republic of Croatia in the form of polygons and gives a description of general statistical data in terms of what is collected, by which method, measurement unit, data status and various time references of data collection and contains statistical values and a link to the statistical unit to which the value refers (cities and municipalities), while surface statistical units show the boundaries of local self-government units with additional information on the geographical name of individual units, area and reference periods of data collection. The Census of Population, Households and Dwellings in the Republic of Croatia represents the most comprehensive and complex statistical survey, and given the number of units covered, it represents the richest source of data on the population of the country. Data are very useful and necessary for the implementation of various economic, social, demographic, development and other policies as well as scientific research.
