This feature layer was developed by the Central Statistics Office and represents the percentage of Census 2016 population living in settlements of 20,000 persons or more by sex, age and disability who live within 500 metres of a public transport stop. The methodology for this indicator is as follows: The coordinates of all public transport stops (Irish Rail, Luas, Dublin Bus and Bus Eireann) were downloaded from the Transport for Ireland website, link to data. Using the road network from the OSi National Map and the ArcGIS Network Analyst tool the shortest distance path was calculated for each dwelling enumerated in the 2016 census to the nearest public transport stop. The resulting output was merged with the main Census of Population 2016 dataset to identify all persons who resided within 500 metres proximity of their nearest public transport stop and to get the relevant breakdowns of the population.Only population within large settlements (e.g. 20,000 or more) were in scope as the metadata for 11.2.1 makes reference to persons having access to public transport facilities with frequent services. The data published for this indicator is based upon the assumption that large settlements would have a greater likelihood of pubic transport services operating on a regular basis during peak times each day.

This is a geographical representation of the locations of CSO outfall points statewide. Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO) are sewers that are designed to collect rainwater runoff, domestic sewage, and industrial wastewater in the same pipe. Most of the time, combined sewer systems transport all of their wastewater to a sewage treatment plant, where it is treated and then discharged to a water body. During periods of heavy rainfall or snowmelt, however, the wastewater volume in a combined sewer system can exceed the capacity of the sewer collection system or treatment plant. This map data layer provides information regarding the location of permitted CSO Outfall Points, the applicable NJPDES Permit number, the assigned 3-digit discharge serial number, the latitude and longitude, the alternate name (such as a street address) of the CSO point, the municipality and Watershed Management Area (WMA) where the CSO outfall is located, a unique identifier for each point consisting of the permit number and outfall number, the receiving waterbody, the receiving treatment plant name and permit number, if the CSO outfall has solids and floatable treatment, a link for Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR) data, and a website.
The data in this feature service was used in the CSO report, "Measuring Distance to Everyday Services in Ireland". Access points to the primary and secondary road network as managed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) were extracted from the PRIME2 database using GIS techniques. This data was extracted from the PRIME2 database in May 2019.The full report can be found here: https://www.cso.ie/en/csolatestnews/presspages/2019/measuringdistancetoeverydayservicesinireland2019/Each Electoral Division is symbolised by average distance to a main road, using the following ranges:Less than 1km1 - < 2km2 - < 5km5 - < 10km10km or moreThese distance values can be found in the field "Distance Range". The values in the field "Distance Rank" are for visualisation purposes within an Operations Dashboard chart on the "Measuring Everyday Services in Ireland" Story Map: https://arcg.is/0Xz5z4
