This annual study provides selected income and tax items classified by State, ZIP Code, and the size of adjusted gross income. These data include the number of returns, which approximates the number of households; the number of personal exemptions, which approximates the population; adjusted gross income; wages and salaries; dividends before exclusion; and interest received. Data are based who reported on U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns (Forms 1040) filed with the IRS. SOI collects these data as part of its Individual Income Tax Return (Form 1040) Statistics program, Data by Geographic Areas, ZIP Code Data.

GeoJunxion‘s ZIP+4 is a complete dataset based on US postal data consisting of plus 35 millions of polygons​. The dataset is NOT JUST a table of spot data, which can be downloaded as csv or other text file as it happens with other suppliers​. The data can be delivered as shapefile through a single RAW data delivery or through an API​.

The January 2021 USPS data source has significantly changed since the previous delivery. Some States have sizably lower ZIP+4 totals across all counties when compared with previous deliveries due to USPS parcelpoint cleanup, while other States have a significant increase in ZIP+4 totals across all counties due to cleanup and other rezoning. California and North Carolina in particular have several new ZIP5s, contributing to the increase in distinct ZIPs and ZIP+4s​.

GeoJunxion‘s ZIP+4 data can be used as an additional layer on an existing map to run customer or other analysis, e.g. who is my customer who not, what is the density of my customer base in a certain ZIP+4 etc.

Information can be put into visual context, due to the polygons, which is good for complex overviews or management decisions. ​CRM data can be enriched with the ZIP+4 to have more detailed customer information​.

ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are generalized representations of United States Postal Service (USPS) ZIP Code service areas. The USPS ZIP Codes identify the individual post office or metropolitan area delivery station associated with mailing addresses. USPS ZIP Codes are not areal features but a collection of mail delivery routes.

Documentation

The denominators used to calculate the address ratios are the ZIP code totals. When a ZIP is split by any of the other geographies, that ZIP code is duplicated in the crosswalk file.

**Example: **ZIP code 03870 is split by two different Census tracts, 33015066000 and 33015071000, which appear in the tract column. The ratio of residential addresses in the first ZIP-Tract record to the total number of residential addresses in the ZIP code is .0042 (.42%). The remaining residential addresses in that ZIP (99.58%) fall into the second ZIP-Tract record.

So, for example, if one wanted to allocate data from ZIP code 03870 to each Census tract located in that ZIP code, one would multiply the number of observations in the ZIP code by the residential ratio for each tract associated with that ZIP code.

CBSA definition

A core-based statistical area (CBSA) is a U.S. geographic area defined by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) that consists of one or more counties (or equivalents) anchored by an urban center of at least 10,000 people plus adjacent counties that are socioeconomically tied to the urban center by commuting. Areas defined on the basis of these standards applied to Census 2000 data were announced by OMB in June 2003. These standards are used to replace the definitions of metropolitan areas that were defined in 1990. The OMB released new standards based on the 2010 Census on July 15, 2015.

This dataset contains information on antibody testing for COVID-19: the number of people who received a test, the number of people with positive results, the percentage of people tested who tested positive, and the rate of testing per 100,000 people, stratified by modified ZIP Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA) of residence. Modified ZCTA reflects the first non-missing address within NYC for each person reported with an antibody test result. This unit of geography is similar to ZIP codes but combines census blocks with smaller populations to allow more stable estimates of population size for rate calculation. It can be challenging to map data that are reported by ZIP Code. A ZIP Code doesn’t refer to an area, but rather a collection of points that make up a mail delivery route. Furthermore, there are some buildings that have their own ZIP Code, and some non-residential areas with ZIP Codes. To deal with the challenges of ZIP Codes, the Health Department uses ZCTAs which solidify ZIP codes into units of area. Often, data reported by ZIP code are actually mapped by ZCTA. The ZCTA geography was developed by the U.S. Census Bureau. These data can also be accessed here: https://github.com/nychealth/coronavirus-data/blob/master/totals/antibody-by-modzcta.csv Exposure to COVID-19 can be detected by measuring antibodies to the disease in a person’s blood, which can indicate that a person may have had an immune response to the virus. Antibodies are proteins produced by the body’s immune system that can be found in the blood. People can test positive for antibodies after they have been exposed, sometimes when they no longer test positive for the virus itself. It is important to note that the science around COVID-19 antibody tests is evolving rapidly and there is still much uncertainty about what individual antibody test results mean for a single person and what population-level antibody test results mean for understanding the epidemiology of COVID-19 at a population level. These data only provide information on people tested. People receiving an antibody test do not reflect all people in New York City; therefore, these data may not reflect antibody prevalence among all New Yorkers. Increasing instances of screening programs further impact the generalizability of these data, as screening programs influence who and how many people are tested over time. Examples of screening programs in NYC include: employers screening their workers (e.g., hospitals), and long-term care facilities screening their residents. In addition, there may be potential biases toward people receiving an antibody test who have a positive result because people who were previously ill are preferentially seeking testing, in addition to the testing of persons with higher exposure (e.g., health care workers, first responders) Rates were calculated using interpolated intercensal population estimates updated in 2019. These rates differ from previously reported rates based on the 2000 Census or previous versions of population estimates. The Health Department produced these population estimates based on estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau and NYC Department of City Planning. Antibody tests are categorized based on the date of specimen collection and are aggregated by full weeks starting each Sunday and ending on Saturday. For example, a person whose blood was collected for antibody testing on Wednesday, May 6 would be categorized as tested during the week ending May 9. A person tested twice in one week would only be counted once in that week. This dataset includes testing data beginning April 5, 2020. Data are updated daily, and the dataset preserves historical records and source data changes, so each extract date reflects the current copy of the data as of that date. There currently exists a HUGE gap in accurate timely reporting around all things Campaign Finance. We feel that it's every citizen's right to be accurately informed in a timely manner. Open sourcing this analysis and dataset is a public statement to that commitment.

Data Breakdown

For quicker reporting and easier consumation, the data has been broken down into separate csv files by state. Take a look at the state volume analysis to see how many transactions are available for your state.

fyi: in order to reduce the csv file size, recipient committees have been abstracted down to their FEC id.

• Contributions by State
  • individual id - contributor individual id
  • location id - the contribution origin location. multiple individuals may be at the same location
  • first name - contributor's first initial
  • last name - contributor's last
  • amount - contribution amount
  • contributed date - the date that this contribution was made
  • recipient committee fec id - the FEC committee id of the
  • transction id - the transaction id filed by ActBlue
  • contribution aggregate - total aggregate this individual has given
  • memo - memo text for the contribution. may contain additional insights
  • zip code - the zipcode where contribution originated
  • state - the state where the contribution came from
• Recipient Committees
  • fec id - the committee FEC id. you can match this field to the recipient commitee fec id in state contributions
  • name - committee name
  • candidate fec id - if attached to a candidate, the candidate's FE...
