COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and associated deaths that have been reported among Connecticut residents. All data in this report are preliminary; data for previous dates will be updated as new reports are received and data errors are corrected. Hospitalization data were collected by the Connecticut Hospital Association and reflect the number of patients currently hospitalized with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. Deaths reported to the either the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) or Department of Public Health (DPH) are included in the daily COVID-19 update.

Data on Connecticut deaths were obtained from the Connecticut Deaths Registry maintained by the DPH Office of Vital Records. Cause of death was determined by a death certifier (e.g., physician, APRN, medical examiner) using their best clinical judgment. Additionally, all COVID-19 deaths, including suspected or related, are required to be reported to OCME. On April 4, 2020, CT DPH and OCME released a joint memo to providers and facilities within Connecticut providing guidelines for certifying deaths due to COVID-19 that were consistent with the CDC’s guidelines and a reminder of the required reporting to OCME.25,26 As of July 1, 2021, OCME had reviewed every case reported and performed additional investigation on about one-third of reported deaths to better ascertain if COVID-19 did or did not cause or contribute to the death. Some of these investigations resulted in the OCME performing postmortem swabs for PCR testing on individuals whose deaths were suspected to be due to COVID-19, but antemortem diagnosis was unable to be made.31 The OCME issued or re-issued about 10% of COVID-19 death certificates and, when appropriate, removed COVID-19 from the death certificate. For standardization and tabulation of mortality statistics, written cause of death statements made by the certifiers on death certificates are sent to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) at the CDC which assigns cause of death codes according to the International Causes of Disease 10th Revision (ICD-10) classification system.25,26 COVID-19 deaths in this report are defined as those for which the death certificate has an ICD-10 code of U07.1 as either a primary (underlying) or a contributing cause of death. CT images of subjects with confirmed lung infections after positive Covid-19 diagnosis

Note: This dataset has been archived and is no longer being updated. COVID Alert CT is Connecticut's voluntary, anonymous, exposure-notification smartphone app. If downloaded, the app will alert users if they have come into close contact with somebody who tests positive for COVID-19. This dataset includes the cumulative and weekly activations for COVID Alert CT for iOS and Android smartphones. The location of app users is not tracked--the app uses Bluetooth technology to detect when another person with the same app comes within 6 feet. The phones exchange a secure code with the each other to record that they were near. The number of codes issued and claimed is also included in this dataset. Data presented are based on a weekly reporting period (Sunday - Saturday). All data are preliminary and are subject to change. After over two years of public reporting, the State Profile Report will no longer be produced and distributed after February 2023. The final release was on February 23, 2023. We want to thank everyone who contributed to the design, production, and review of this report and we hope that it provided insight into the data trends throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The State Profile Report (SPR) is generated by the Data Strategy and Execution Workgroup in the Joint Coordination Cell, in collaboration with the White House. It is managed by an interagency team with representatives from multiple agencies and offices (including the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response, and the Indian Health Service). The SPR provides easily interpretable information on key indicators for each state, down to the county level.

It is a weekly snapshot in time that:

• Focuses on recent outcomes in the last seven days and changes relative to the month prior
• Provides additional contextual information at the county level for each state, and includes national level information
• Supports rapid visual interpretation of results with color thresholds

This report summarizes data on COVID-19 cases and COVID-19 associated deaths by race/ethnicity for the state of Connecticut and the 10 largest Connecticut towns. Data on race/ethnicity are missing on almost half (47%) of reported COVID-19 cases. CT DPH has urged healthcare providers and laboratories to complete information on race/ethnicity for all COVID-19 cases. All data in this report are preliminary; data will be updated as new COVID-19 case reports are received and data errors are corrected. Data on COVID-19 cases and COVID-19-associated deaths were last updated on April 20, 2020 at 3 PM. Information about race and ethnicity are collected on the Connecticut Department of Public Health (DPH) COVID-19 case report form, which is completed by healthcare providers for laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases. Information about the race/ethnicity of COVID-19-associated deaths also are collected by the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and shared with DPH. Race/ethnicity categories used in this report are mutually exclusive. People answering ‘yes’ to more than one race category are counted as ‘other’.

The COVID-19 Data Report is posted on the Open Data Portal every day at 3pm. The report uses data from multiple sources, including external partners; if data from external partners are not received by 3pm, they are not available for inclusion in the report and will not be displayed. Data that are received after 3pm will still be incorporated and published in the next report update.

Suppression: the data in towns with fewer than five (5) cases or five (5) positive NAAT tests in the past seven (7) days are suppressed.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases (cumulative_cases) includes all cases of COVID-19 that have ever been reported to DPH. The cumulative number of COVID_19 cases in the last 7 days (cases_7days) only includes cases where the specimen collection date is within the past 7 days. While most cases are reported to DPH within 48 hours of specimen collection, there are a small number of cases that routinely are delayed, and will have specimen collection dates that fall outside of the rolling 7 day reporting window. Additionally, reporting entities may submit correction files to contribute historic data during initial onboarding or to address data quality issues; while this is rare, these correction files may cause a large amount of data from outside of the current reporting window to be uploaded in a single day; this would result in the change in cumulative_cases being much larger than the value of cases_7days.

On June 4, 2020, the US Department of Health and Human Services issued guidance requiring the reporting of positive and negative test results for SARS-CoV-2; this guidance expired with the end of the federal PHE on 5/11/2023, and negative SARS-CoV-2 results were removed from the List of Reportable Laboratory Findings. DPH will no longer be reporting metrics that were dependent on the collection of negative test results, specifically total tests performed or percent positivity. Positive antigen and PCR/NAAT results will continue to be reportable.

This dataset includes the leading and secondary metrics identified by the Connecticut Department of Health (DPH) and the Department of Education (CSDE) to support local district decision-making on the level of in-person, hybrid (blended), and remote learning model for Pre K-12 education.

Data represent daily averages for two-week periods by date of specimen collection (cases and positivity), date of hospital admission, or date of ED visit. Hospitalization data come from the Connecticut Hospital Association and are based on hospital location, not county of patient residence. COVID-19-like illness includes fever and cough or shortness of breath or difficulty breathing or the presence of coronavirus diagnosis code and excludes patients with influenza-like illness. All data are preliminary.

These data are updated weekly and reflect the previous two full Sunday-Saturday (MMWR) weeks (https://wwwn.cdc.gov/nndss/document/MMWR_week_overview.pdf).

These metrics were adapted from recommendations by the Harvard Global Institute and supplemented by existing DPH measures.

As you know, we are learning more about COVID-19 all the time, including the best ways to measure COVID-19 activity in our communities. CT DPH has decided to shift to 14-day rates because these are more stable, particularly at the town level, as compared to 7-day rates. In addition, since the school indicators were initially published by DPH last summer, CDC has recommended 14-day rates and other states (e.g., Massachusetts) have started to implement 14-day metrics for monitoring COVID transmission as well.

With respect to geography, we also have learned that many people are looking at the town-level data to inform decision making, despite emphasis on the county-level metrics in the published addenda. This is understandable as there has been variation within counties in COVID-19 activity (for example, rates that are higher in one town than in most other towns in the county).

This data set is part of the public development data for the 2023 Automated Universal Classification Challenge (AUC23). The data set concerns COVID-19 RT-PCR outcome prediction and prediction of severe COVID-19, defined as death or intubation after one month, from computed tomography (CT). The data set was previously introduced and described by Revel, M. et al (2021). Data was restructured in compliance with the AUC23 challenge format. The STOIC project collected CT images of 10,735 individuals suspected of being infected with SARS-COV-2 during the first wave of the pandemic in France, from March to April 2020. For each patient in the training set, the dataset contains binary labels for COVID-19 presence based on RT-PCR test results, and COVID-19 severity, defined as intubation or death within one month from the acquisition of the CT scan. This data set contains the training sample of the STOIC dataset as used in the STOIC2021 challenge.
