Jollibee has been focusing on its international expansion since the easing of COVID-19 restrictions globally. The restaurant brand now has over 270 international branches in the United States, Canada, the Middle East, and Asia and has gradually expanded to cater to customers in Europe. Changing Filipino dining habits In-person dining habits were challenged in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Instead of dining in, most Filipinos turned to food delivery apps to satisfy their food cravings. Even after restrictions eased, a recent survey revealed that Filipinos planned to continue ordering food from these apps due to their convenience and to limit social contact. Between 2020 and 2021, the share of online food service orders grew rapidly, although it remains fewer than offline orders.

Lockdown measures and restrictions on gatherings led to a decrease in foot traffic for crepe vendors, particularly those reliant on events and festivals for sales. Many crepe makers shifted towards online delivery and takeout options to adapt to changing consumer behaviors and safety concerns. However, supply chain disruptions and fluctuating ingredient costs posed challenges for businesses. Additionally, heightened sanitation protocols and social distancing measures further impacted operational efficiency. Despite these challenges, some crepe makers innovated by introducing new flavors, packaging, and marketing strategies to stay resilient in the face of the pan...

    Description

The love of meat products by local consumers in the Philippines saw a rise in meat consumption, most specifically for pork meat. By 2023, it was forecasted that pork would be the most consumed type of meat in the Philippines at approximately 15 kilograms per person.

    Understanding the meat industry

The leading meat products consumed in the country are chicken and pork based. In 2022, the pork consumption per capita in the Philippines was about 1.53 million tons per person, while 1.74 million tons of poultry meat per capita were consumed per person.

Despite the growing market for the meat industry, a critical virus strain outbreak should be considered by businesses venturing into the meat industry. For hog raisers, swine flu can be a threat to pork production, and salmonella bacteria for chicken meat producers. Compliance with the provisions on food safety is vital. As such, those in the meat shop business must stick to the regulations of the meat inspection code of the Philippines.

    Pricing

In situations where animal feeds are in a shortage due to adverse weather conditions, or rising fuel prices halt the deliveries of meat, ripple effects are manifested mainly in pricing. This has been reflected in the gradual increase in the domestic retail price of lean pork meat from hog livestock, which amounted to approximately 312 Philippine pesos per kilogram in 2022.

The global Fish Balls market was valued at USD 487.60 Million in 2022 and is projected to reach USD 734.25 Million by 2030, registering a CAGR of 5.25% for the forecast period 2024 to 2031. Factors Affecting Fish Balls Market Growth

Increasing Demand for Convenient and Ready-to-Eat Foods

The substantial rise in demand for quick-to-eat foods on a global scale, which reflects the rapid pace of modern lifestyles, claims volumes about the transformation in consumer preferences and habits. The propensity for food solutions that effortlessly combine nutritional effectiveness and culinary satisfaction has grown into a defining characteristic of recent times because of this constantly changing environment. For instance, in 2020, around 30%-35% of Americans consumed ready to eat food. These quick and easy fish balls are designed to meet the changing nutritional needs and eating patterns of customers seeking handy meal options. Fish balls are adaptable and simple to incorporate into a variety of cuisines, whether as a quick snack, a dinner. They are the perfect option for people with little cooking knowledge or for those looking for alternatives that cook quickly because of their pre-cooked nature, which negates the need for specialized culinary abilities or prolonged cooking times. Additionally, there are groups of people that are interested in ready-to-eat foods. There is a greater reliance on packaged foods across a variety of foodservice places, including cafes, restaurants, and street food vendors, as a result of the rise of busy work schedules and on-the-go lifestyles. With their convenience, fish balls have also established a niche in these environments, aiding in the expansion of the worldwide fish ball market. In conclusion, a major factor propelling the growth of the global fish ball market is the rise in demand for quick, ready-to-eat foods. Fish balls have become a popular option as customers value convenience of preparation and consumption without sacrificing taste or quality. By fulfilling these requirements and taking advantage of changing dietary tastes in a fast-paced environment, fish balls have become more popular.

    Competition from Alternative Protein Sources

A significant restraint to the conventional fish ball industry is the rise and popularity of alternative protein sources, which have the potential to alter consumer dietary choices and purchasing patterns. A rising number of customers are choosing plant-based, lab-grown, or other non-traditional protein choices as social concerns about sustainability, environmental impact, and health gain traction. Concerns about animal welfare, the need to cut greenhouse gas emissions, and a desire for foods that are healthier and more ethically sourced are some of the factors that are causing this change. Alternative protein products have made tremendous progress in replicating the flavor, texture, and nutritional value of conventional animal-based goods. These products range from plant-based meat alternatives to cultured proteins manufactured from cells. With the familiarity of traditional protein sources while addressing some of the disadvantages, such as environmental impact and potential health risks, these technologies give customers a compelling value proposition. Alternative proteins are appealing because they have a lower impact on the environment. These alternatives, which provide consumers a workable and appealing replacement for fish balls, are posing a serious threat to the market for traditional fish balls as they become more widely available and advanced.

The COVID-19 Impact on Global Fish Balls Market

The COVID-19 pandemic had a substantial impact on the global fish ball market, with multiple effects on supply chains, consumer behavior, and market dynamics. Observable changes in consumer behavior also occurred. People reviewed their dietary choices as a result of increased health and safety concerns, placing a greater emphasis on hygienic practices, nutritional value, and immunity-boosting qualities. This change resulted in increased awareness of manufactured foods, especially fish balls, and a preference for items that were fresher and more locally sourced. Fish ball consumption decreased as a result of the assumption that frozen or packaged fish balls were less safe. The economic uncertainty brought on by the pandemic affected disposable incomes as well, changing consumer buying habits and leading some buyers to ch...
