These statistics are derived from submissions made using version 2.0 of the Mental Health Services Dataset (MHSDS). NHS Digital review the quality and completeness of the submissions used to create these statistics on an ongoing basis. Fully detailed information on the quality and completeness of particular statistics in this release is not available due to the timescales involved in reviewing submissions and engaging with data providers. The NSUL relates the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) for each GB address from AddressBase® Epoch 55 to a range of current statutory administrative, electoral, health and other statistical geographies via 'best-fit' allocation from 2011 Census output areas (National Parks and Workplace Zones are exempt from 'best-fit' and use 'exact-fit' allocations). The NSUL is produced by ONS Geography, who provide geographic support to the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and geographic services used by other organisations. The NSUL is issued every 6 weeks and is designed to complement the Ordnance Survey AddressBase® product. Update 03/05/2019: This update retrospectively adds the Quality Improvement Metrics file previously not published for this month. This is a report on NHS-funded maternity services in England for August 2018, using data submitted to the Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS). The MSDS has been developed to help achieve better outcomes of care for mothers, babies and children. The MSDS is a patient-level 'secondary uses' data set that re-uses clinical and operational data for purposes other than direct patient care, such as commissioning and clinical audit. It captures key information at each stage of the maternity service care pathway in NHS-funded maternity services, such as those provided by GP practices and hospitals. The data collected include mother's demographics, booking appointments, admissions and re-admissions, screening tests, labour and delivery along with baby's demographics, diagnoses and screening tests. The Quality Improvement Metrics file includes rates for 4 of the 14 Clinical Quality Improvement Metrics that form part of NHS England's Maternity Transformation Programme. The following analysis files are published within the zip file 'Additional experimental analysis using MSDS data' for the relevant month due to low data quality and completeness: • Delivery method by previous births • Delivery method by Robson group • Smoking status at delivery (for births one month earlier) • Postpartum haemorrhage and other maternal critical incidents (for births one month earlier) • Antenatal pathway level • Births without intervention. These statistics are classified as experimental and should be used with caution. Experimental statistics are new official statistics undergoing evaluation. The latest National Statistics on forestry produced by the Forestry Commission were released on 27 September 2018 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority. Detailed statistics are published in the web publication Forestry Statistics 2018, with an extract in Forestry Facts & Figures 2018. They include UK statistics on woodland area, planting, timber, trade, climate change, environment, recreation, employment and finance & prices as well as some statistics on international forestry. Where possible, figures are also provided for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This dataset covers statistics on carbon in forests, the Woodland Carbon Code and public attitudes to climate change.

Latest Monthly statistics on Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA) from the Assuring Transformation collection and MHSDS collection. This publication brings together the LDA data from the Assuring Transformation collection and the LDA service specific statistics from the Mental Health Statistics Data Set (MHSDS). There are differences in the inpatient figures between the MHSDS and AT data sets and work is underway to better understand these. NHS Digital plans to publish additional monthly comparator data from this work in future publications. The MHSDS LDA data are currently labelled experimental as they are undergoing evaluation. Further information on the quality of these statistics is available in the Data Quality section of the main report. It is planned that the MHSDS will become the sole source of inpatient LDA data in the future, replacing Assuring Transformation. There is a slight difference in scope between the two data collections. The MHSDS data is from providers based in England and includes care provided in England but may be commissioned outside England. Whereas the Assuring Transformation data are provided by English commissioners and healthcare will typically be provided in England but also includes data on care commissioned in England and provided elsewhere in the UK. These statistics are derived from submissions made using version 2.0 of the Mental Health Services Dataset (MHSDS). Prior to May 2018 the LDA service specific statistics were included in the main MHSDS publication. Each publication consists of the following documents: •A report which presents England level analysis of key measures. •A monthly CSV file which presents key measures at England level. •A metadata file to accompany the CSV file, which provides contextual information for each measure. •An excel reference data tables showing data as reported and total patient counts. For AT these are retrospectively updated from March 2015 onwards. An easy read version of both main reports highlighting key findings in an easy-to-understand way. The National Prisoner Statistics (NPS) data collection began in 1926 in response to a congressional mandate to gather information on persons incarcerated in state and federal prisons. Originally under the auspices of the United States Census Bureau, the collection moved to the Bureau of Prisons in 1950, and then in 1971 to the National Criminal Justice Information and Statistics Service, the precursor to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) which was established in 1979. Since 1979, the Census Bureau has been the NPS data collection agent. The NPS is administered to 51 respondents. Before 2001, the District of Columbia was also a respondent, but responsibility for housing the District of Columbia's sentenced prisoners was transferred to the federal Bureau of Prisons, and by yearend 2001 the District of Columbia no longer operated a prison system. The NPS provides an enumeration of persons in state and federal prisons and collects data on key characteristics of the nation's prison population. NPS has been adapted over time to keep pace with the changing information needs of the public, researchers, and federal, state, and local governments.
