    In 2023, around 3,640.56 violent crimes per 100,000 residents were reported in Oakland, California. This made Oakland the most dangerous city in the United States in that year. Four categories of violent crimes were used: murder and non-negligent manslaughter; forcible rape; robbery; and aggravated assault. Only cities with a population of at least 200,000 were considered.

    From 2013 to 2017, there were 1,466 recorded bicycle and pedestrian crashes. Using the Weighted Severity Index, staff calculated the top 10 most dangerous intersections for bicyclists and pedestrians. Out of the top 10 most dangerous intersections, seven of them were located within Oklahoma City. Two of the intersections were in Moore and one was in Norman.

    In 2024, the highest homicide rate among 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries surveyed was in Haiti, with around 62 murders committed per 100,000 inhabitants. Trinidad and Tobago came in second, with a homicide rate of 46, while Honduras ranked seventh, with 25. In the same year, the lowest rate was recorded in El Salvador, with a homicide rate of 1.9 per 100,000 inhabitants. A violence-ridden region Violence and crime are some of the most pressing problems affecting Latin American society nowadays. More than 40 of the 50 most dangerous cities in the world are located in this region, as well as one of the twenty countries with the least peace in the world according to the Global Peace Index. Despite governments’ large spending on security and high imprisonment rates, drug and weapon trafficking, organized crime, and gangs have turned violence into an epidemic that affects the whole region and a solution to this issue appears to be hardly attainable. The cost of violence in Mexico Mexico stands out as an example of the great cost that violence inflicts upon a country, since beyond claiming human lives, it also affects everyday life and has a negative impact on the economy. Mexicans have a high perceived level of insecurity, as they do not only fear becoming victims of homicide, but also of other common crimes, such as assault or rape. Such fear prevents people from performing everyday activities, for instance, going out at night, taking a taxi or going to the movies or the theater. Furthermore, the economic toll of violence in Mexico is more than considerable. For example, the cost of homicide and violent crime amounted to 2099.8 and 1778.1 billion Mexican pesos in 2023, respectively.

There are several factors attributed to the decrease in the crime rate across the United States. An increase in the number of police officers and an increase in income are some of the reasons for a decrease in the crime rate. Unfortunately, people of color have been disproportionately affected by crime rates, as they are more likely to be arrested for a crime versus a white person. The second most dangerous city in the country in 2020 was Detroit. Detroit has faced severe levels of economic and demographic declines in the past years. Not only has the population decreased, the city has filed for bankruptcy. Despite the median household income increasing, the city still struggles financially.

    In 2023, the District of Columbia had the highest reported violent crime rate in the United States, with 1,150.9 violent crimes per 100,000 of the population. Maine had the lowest reported violent crime rate, with 102.5 offenses per 100,000 of the population. Life in the District The District of Columbia has seen a fluctuating population over the past few decades. Its population decreased throughout the 1990s, when its crime rate was at its peak, but has been steadily recovering since then. While unemployment in the District has also been falling, it still has had a high poverty rate in recent years. The gentrification of certain areas within Washington, D.C. over the past few years has made the contrast between rich and poor even greater and is also pushing crime out into the Maryland and Virginia suburbs around the District. Law enforcement in the U.S. Crime in the U.S. is trending downwards compared to years past, despite Americans feeling that crime is a problem in their country. In addition, the number of full-time law enforcement officers in the U.S. has increased recently, who, in keeping with the lower rate of crime, have also made fewer arrests than in years past.

    These data represent the location of Danger Zones and Restricted Areas within coastal and marine waters, as outlined by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and the Raster Navigational Charts (RNC). The CFR defines a Danger Zone as, "A defined water area (or areas) used for target practice, bombing, rocket firing or other especially hazardous operations, normally for the armed forces. The danger zones may be closed to the public on a full-time or intermittent basis, as stated in the regulations." The CFR defines a Restricted Area as, "A defined water area for the purpose of prohibiting or limiting public access to the area. Restricted areas generally provide security for Government property and/or protection to the public from the risks of damage or injury arising from the Government's use of that area." Authoritative information relating to these data may be found in Title 33, Chapter II of the CFR (Part 334).

    In Europe, the Baltic countries of Latvia and Lithuania had the highest and third highest homicide rates respectively in 2022. Latvia had the highest rate at over four per 100,000 inhabitants. Meanwhile, the lowest homicide rate was found in Liechtenstein, with zero murders The most dangerous country worldwide Saint Kitts and Nevis is the world's most dangerous country to live in in terms of murder rate. The Caribbean country had a homicide rate of 65 per 100,000 inhabitants. Nine of the 10 countries with the highest murder rates worldwide are located in Latin America and the Caribbean. Whereas Celaya in Mexico was listed as the city with the highest murder rate worldwide, Colima in Mexico was the city with the highest homicide rate in Latin America, so the numbers vary from source to source. Nevertheless, several Mexican cities rank among the deadliest in the world when it comes to intentional homicides. Violent conflicts worldwide Notably, these figures do not include deaths that resulted from war or a violent conflict. While there is a persistent number of conflicts worldwide, resulting casualties are not considered murders. Partially due to this reason, homicide rates in Latin America are higher than those in countries such as Ukraine or the DR Congo. A different definition of murder in these circumstances could change the rate significantly.

    Description

    Subrosion is the underground leaching and transporting of mostly easily soluble rocks. Subrodable are chemical sediments, such as the easily soluble chlorides stone salt and potassium salt, sulphate rocks such as plaster and anhydrite (sulfate carbonate) and the heavier soluble carbonate rocks e.g. limestone (carbonate carbonate). Most of the damage in Lower Saxony is due to the leaching of sulphate rocks. In subrosion, it is necessary to distinguish between regular and irregular leaching. Regular leaching takes place extensively on the surface of the subrodable rock and leads to wide, usually small reductions of the terrain. Irregular leaching focuses on a small-scale, narrowly limited area and can lead to the formation of caves, muds or gutters. It progresses in the solid rock mainly along crevices or joints in the rock. Therefore, loosened mountain areas in tectonic disturbance zones are also mostly areas of intense subrosion. If the boundary load capacity of the mountain above a cavity is exceeded, this cavity can collapse and break through to the earth’s surface (earthfall). The layer strength of the soluble rock and thus the possible size of a cavity are decisive for the size of the burglary on the terrain surface. About 50 percent of the earthquakes in Lower Saxony have a diameter of up to two meters and about 40 percent the diameter is between two and five meters. Although these diameters appear quite small, the impact on structures can be very large. The IEG50 map shows areas where there is an area-like threat from landfall.

    This project used a 2019 crimes dataset (crimes which are dangerous to the victims) to create a hotspot map for dangerous crimes in Philadelphia to see the geographic locations that have more violent crime. A hotspot map was also made for shooting victims in Philadelphia to give more weight for fatal crimes. Theoretically, the places where the two of these overlap would be the most dangerous portions of the city. The different census tracts of the city are then enriched to determine where areas of lower income (and therefore lower housing cost) would be. It is also home to many corporations, such as Monsanto, Arch Coal, and Emerson Electric. The economy of St. Louis is centered around business and healthcare, and boasts ten Fortune 500 companies. Crime in St. Louis Despite all of this, St. Louis suffers from high levels of crime and violence. As of 2023, it was listed as the seventh most dangerous city in the world as a result of their extremely high murder rate. Not only does St. Louis have one of the highest homicide rates in the United States, it also reports one of the highest numbers of violent crimes. Despite high crime levels, the GDP of the St. Louis metropolitan area has been increasing since 2001.

The hazard map is the result of the study of hazards, the objective of which is to assess the intensity of each hazard at any point in the study area.     This dataset (JDD) is part of a data set that describes land use constraints related to anthropogenic risks, including, for each constraint, the government services or communities to be consulted. The initial target corresponds to those involved in the management of urban planning who wish to know these constraints in a given area of the Greater East region. In the context of the procedure “Treatment of requests relating to constraints on land use due to anthropogenic risks”, which governs the consultations of the departmental units of DREAL and the Department of Anthropic Risk Prevention, a distinction is made between “transport pipelines for the transport of known dangerous materials” and “pipelines for the transport of dangerous materials in the process of being aware”. DREAL does not need to be consulted on the stresses induced by these pipes. The layer “known pipelines” represents the municipalities impacted by “known pipelines”. Description

In 2023, around 3,640.56 violent crimes per 100,000 residents were reported in Oakland, California. This made Oakland the most dangerous city in the United States in that year. Four categories of violent crimes were used: murder and non-negligent manslaughter; forcible rape; robbery; and aggravated assault. Only cities with a population of at least 200,000 were considered.
