The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. This high-resolution NHD, generally developed at 1:24,000/1:12,000 scale, adds detail to the original 1:100,000-scale NHD. (Data for Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands was developed at high-resolution, not 1:100,000 scale.) Local resolution NHD is being developed where partners and data exist. The NHD contains reach codes for networked features, flow direction, names, and centerline representations for areal water bodies. Reaches are also defined on waterbodies and the approximate shorelines of the Great Lakes, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico. The NHD also incorporates the National Spatial Data Infrastructure framework criteria established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

The EcoTrends project was established in 2004 by Dr. Debra Peters (Jornada Basin LTER, USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range) and Dr. Ariel Lugo (Luquillo LTER, USDA-FS Luquillo Experimental Forest) to support the collection and analysis of long-term ecological datasets. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities.

Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office.

The following dataset from Florida Coastal Everglades (FCE) contains wind speed (mean) measurements in metersPerSecond units and were aggregated to a yearly timescale.

The South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the U.S. Geological Survey have developed projected future change factors for precipitation depth-duration-frequency (DDF) curves at 174 NOAA Atlas 14 stations in central and south Florida. The change factors were computed as the ratio of projected future to historical extreme precipitation depths fitted to extreme precipitation data from various downscaled climate datasets using a constrained maximum likelihood (CML) approach. The change factors correspond to the period 2050-2089 (centered in the year 2070) as compared to the 1966-2005 historical period. Geospatial data provided in an ArcGIS shapefile are described herein. The shapefile contains polygons of climate regions including their acreages. As part of this project, best models from each downscaled climate dataset are determined for climate regions in South Florida and South-Central Florida based on how well they reproduce historical climate extreme indices. Table 1 of Datasets_station_information.xlsx lists the NOAA Atlas 14 stations located within each climate region. The Florida Department of Revenue’s Property Tax Oversight(PTO) program collects parcel level Geographic Information System (GIS) data files every April from all of Florida’s 67 county property appraisers’ offices. This GIS data was exported from these file submissions in August 2024. The GIS parcel polygon features have been joined with thereal property roll (Name – Address – Legal, or NAL)file. No line work was adjusted between county boundaries.The polygon data set represents the information property appraisers gathered from the legal description on deeds, lot layout of recorded plats, declaration of condominium documents, recorded and unrecorded surveys.Individual parcel data is updated continually by each county property appraiser as needed. The food access data displayed in this theme are quantitative measures that illustrate the accessibility of nutritious, affordable, and culturally appropriate food in Florida’s communities. Food consumption is often influenced by the food environment and barriers that may inhibit an individual’s ability to make healthful food choices. In addition, food access has been studied as a contributing factor in diet and health outcomes. The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has used the most current food access data from trusted sources, such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Florida Department of Children and Families, Feeding Florida, Nielsen, and The Reinvestment Fund to build this visualization. The food access data listed in Florida’s Roadmap to Living Healthy includes important layers, such as nutrition programs, food banks, food deserts, retail market locations, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) statistics), low supermarket access areas, farmers’ markets, and limited service restaurants along with other vital statistics. This unique categorization of food access data can be used to better identify the specific food access needs of individual communities in Florida, and allow government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other organizations to identify gaps so they may begin to improve access to those communities.
