    Description

The OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) surveys collected data on students’ performances in reading, mathematics and science, as well as contextual information on students’ background, home characteristics and school factors which could influence performance. This publication includes detailed information on how to analyse the PISA data, enabling researchers to both reproduce the initial results and to undertake further analyses. In addition to the inclusion of the necessary techniques, the manual also includes a detailed account of the PISA 2006 database and worked examples providing full syntax in SPSS.

    Description

People from many countries have expressed interest in the tests students take for the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Learning Mathematics for Life examines the link between the PISA test requirements and student performance. It focuses specifically on the proportions of students who answer questions correctly across a range of difficulty. The questions are classified by content, competencies, context and format, and the connections between these and student performance are then analysed. This analysis has been carried out in an effort to link PISA results to curricular programmes and structures in participating countries and economies. Results from the student assessment reflect differences in country performance in terms of the test questions. These findings are important for curriculum planners, policy makers and in particular teachers – especially mathematics teachers of intermediate and lower secondary school classes.

    Description

Dataset for manuscript "A comprehensive framework for explainable cluster analysis".

This dataset contains student data collected for the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). Specifically, we use a sample of 5,000 students randomly selected from the 35,943 Spanish students who took the PISA 2018 survey [1]. A total of 80 variables are selected.

The dataset contains two files: - A CSV file containing the student data to which an additional column, stu_original_order has been added as unique identifier. - An Excel file containing a description of all variables.

    Description

The Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) evaluates 15-year-olds’ ability to use their reading, mathematics and science knowledge and skills. Since 2000, Switzerland participated in every PISA cycle conducted by the OECD. At the end of every cycle, the Swiss PISA data of the national 15-year-old sample has been made available in the international data sets published on the OECD website. Before 2015, in addition to the sample of the 15-year-olds, an additional and larger sample of 9th grade students was drawn and tested in Switzerland. The resulting Swiss data for the 9th grade students, that allowed comparisons selected cantons, was published in full on FORSbase, now SwissUbase. Since 2015, solely the national PISA sample from the population of 15-year-olds is tested, that allows comparisons between three Swiss language regions, but not anymore between selected cantons. Thus, starting with PISA 2015 the Swiss PISA data are almost completely available in the international data sets published on the OECD website. However, the present dataset complements the international PISA 2022 dataset with additional information relevant for the Swiss context as well with some national options from PISA 2022.

    Description

A three-year survey of the knowledge and skills of 15-year-olds in the principal industrialised countries. The survey, conducted first in 2000, will be repeated every three years. 265,000 students from 32 countries took part. Students sat pencil and paper assessments in their schools. Students and their principals also answered questionnaires about themselves and their schools. This allowed PISA to identify what factors are associated with better and worse performance. There is also an interactive data selection tool for PISA 2000 data at the Australian Council for Educational Research.

    Description

Are students well prepared to meet the challenges of the future? Can they analyse, reason and communicate their ideas effectively? Have they found the kinds of interests they can pursue throughout their lives as productive members of the economy and society? The OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) seeks to answer these questions through the most comprehensive and rigorous international assessment of student knowledge and skills. PISA 2012 Assessment and Analytical Framework presents the conceptual framework underlying the fifth cycle of PISA. Similar to the previous cycles, the 2012 assessment covers reading, mathematics and science, with the major focus on mathematical literacy. Two other domains are evaluated: problem solving and financial literacy. Students respond to a background questionnaire and, as an option, to an educational career questionnaire as well as another questionnaire about Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Additional supporting information is gathered from the school authorities through the school questionnaire and from the parents through a third optional questionnaire. Sixty-six countries and economies, including all 34 OECD member countries, are taking part in the PISA 2012 assessment.

Estimated average scores and percent distribution of 15-year-old students, science, by proficiency level, Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), Canada, provinces and participating countries, Council of Ministers of Education Canada (CMEC). This table is included in Section C: Elementary-secondary education: Student achievement of the Pan Canadian Education Indicators Program (PCEIP). PCEIP draws from a wide variety of data sources to provide information on the school-age population, elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, transitions, education finance and labour market outcomes. The program presents indicators for all of Canada, the provinces, the territories, as well as selected international comparisons and comparisons over time. PCEIP is an ongoing initiative of the Canadian Education Statistics Council, a partnership between Statistics Canada and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada that provides a set of statistical measures on education systems in Canada.

    Description

This publication presents the guiding principles behind the PISA-D assessment for both the school-based and the out-ofschool instruments. Sample tasks are also included. It assembles versions of the PISA assessment frameworks for reading, mathematical and scientific literacy that are based on the PISA 2012 and PISA 2015 frameworks, but extends these frameworks to allow for more relevant measurement in a broad range of middle- and low-income countries.
