    Description

    Stack Overflow Dataset Preprocessing

    Preprocessing Steps

    1. Initial Cleaning:

      • Removed unnecessary 'Unnamed: 0' column.
      • Handled missing values in 'HaveWorkedWith' by replacing them with 'None'.
      • Removed duplicate rows.
    2. Encoding Categorical Variables:

      • Applied one-hot encoding to the following categorical columns: 'Age', 'Accessibility', 'EdLevel', 'Gender', 'MentalHealth', 'MainBranch', and 'Country'. This significantly increased the number of columns in the dataset.
    3. Text Data Processing:

      • Transformed the 'HaveWorkedWith' column, which contains technologies or tools, into binary features. Each unique technology/tool mentioned in the column was converted into a separate binary feature, indicating whether a respondent has worked with that technology/tool.
    4. Normalization/Standardization:

      • Standardized the numerical columns ('YearsCode', 'YearsCodePro', 'PreviousSalary', 'ComputerSkills') to have a mean of 0 and a standard deviation of 1. This is a common practice in data preprocessing for machine learning algorithms.

    Additional Notes

    • The dataset is now in a format suitable for various data analysis and machine learning applications.
    • The original dataset columns have been significantly transformed, with many new columns added due to one-hot encoding and the processing of the 'HaveWorkedWith' column.

    Descriptive Statistics for Numerical Columns:

    Employment:

Most respondents are employed (mean close to 1).

    YearsCode

    ComputerSkills

Average score is 13.43, ranging from 0 to 107.

    Distribution of Key Categorical Variables:

    Age

Majority of respondents are under 35 years old.

The file "by income brackets" shows the distribution of the number of taxpayers, their income level, the basis of assessment of personal income tax and the amount of personal income tax assessed by income brackets, depending on the average salary in the Republic of Slovenia in a particular year.

In the file "after credits" the types of credits are given, namely the number of taxpayers for each credit and the amount of the credit.

In the file "by source" is given: the number of taxpayers who had each source of income, the amount of income in EUR at each source and the amount of prepayment of income tax in EUR paid during the year.
