Read more about it here: https://www.esri.com/en-us/arcgis/products/data/overview?rmedium=www_esri_com_EtoF&rsource=/en-us/arcgis/products/esri-demographics/overview Data Source: U.S. Census Bureau, Census 2020 Summary File 1, 2021 American Community Survey(ACS), and ESRI 2022 Demographics and Tapestry Segmentation. For more information on Esri Demographics see HERE and for Tapestry see HERE.Geographies: The council district boundaries used in this dashboard are those that were effective as of May 6, 2023.Much of the science for determining the data for an irregular polygon is explained here:https://doc.arcgis.com/en/community-analyst/help/calculation-estimates-for-user-created-areas.htmCalculation estimates for user-created areasBusiness Analyst employs a GeoEnrichment service which uses the concept of a study area to define the location of the point or area that you want to enrich with additional information. If one or more points is input as a study area, the service will create a one-mile ring buffer around the points or points to collect and append enrichment data. You can optionally change the ring buffer size or create drive-time service areas around a point. The GeoEnrichment service uses a sophisticated geographic retrieval methodology to aggregate data for rings and other polygons. A geographic retrieval methodology determines how data is gathered and summarized or aggregated for input features. For standard geographic units, such as states, provinces, counties, or postal codes, the link between a designated area and its attribute data is a simple one-to-one relationship. For example, if an input study trade area contains a selection of ZIP Codes, the data retrieval is a simple process of gathering the data for those areas.Data Allocation MethodThe Data Allocation method allocates block group data to custom areas by examining where the population is located within the block group and determines how much of the population of a block group overlaps a custom area. This method is used in the United States, and similarly in Canada. The population data reported for census blocks, a more granular level of geography than block groups, is used to determine where the population is distributed within a block group. If the geographic center of a block falls within the custom area, the entire population for the block is used to weight the block group data. The geographic distribution of the population at the census block level determines the proportion of census block group data that is allocated to user specified areas as shown in the example.Note:Depending on the data, households, housing units or businesses at the block group level are used as weights. Employing block centriods is superior because it accounts for the possibility that the population may not be evenly distributed geographically throughout a block group.

    Summary

The data for this dashboard is from the California Department of Finance Demographic Research Unit's published E-5 Annual Report showing the changes in population and housing across California from the state, county, and city level from April 1, 2020 to January 1, 2024. These estimates observe 58 counties, 482 cities, and 57 unincorporated county areas. The purpose of this dashboard is to provide interactive analysis with data visualizations to complement the E-5 report released annually on May 1st.

Please note, the changes from 2020 to 2021 reflect a nine-month change, not an annual change, as these estimates begin from the decennial census on April 1, 2020. Subsequent years' estimates reflect annual changes starting on January 1st.

    Description

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Data Dashboard is an initiative of the Home and Community Based Services Spending Plan. The initiative's primary goal is to create a public-facing LTSS data dashboard to track demographic, utilization, quality, and cost data related to LTSS services. This dashboard will link statewide long-term care and home and community-based services (HCBS) data with the goal of increased transparency to make it possible for regulators, policymakers, and the public to be informed while the state continues to expand, enhance, and improve the quality of LTSS in all home, community, and congregate settings.

The first iteration of the LTSS Dashboard was released in December 2022 as an Open Data Portal file with 40 measures pertaining to LTSS beneficiaries, which includes ten different demographics, plan-related dimensions, and dual stratification. The December 2023 Data Release includes 16 new measures on the Medi-Cal LTSS Dashboard and Open Data Portal (Select “View Underlying Data”); and additional measures and dimensions, including dual stratification, will be added to the Open Data Portal in 2024.

Note: The LTSS Dashboard measures are based on certified eligible beneficiaries who were enrolled in Medi-Cal for one or more months during the reporting interval. Most of the DHCS LTSS dashboard measures report the annual number of certified eligible Medi-Cal beneficiaries who have used LTSS services within a year. Other departments may report on these programs differently. For example, the Department of Social Services (CDSS) reports monthly IHSS recipient/consumer counts. The California Department of Aging (CDA) reports monthly CBAS Medi-Cal participants. DHCS’ annual utilization / enrollment counts of IHSS and CBAS beneficiaries are larger than CDSS/CDA's monthly counts because of data source differences and new enrollment or program attrition over time. Monthly snap-shot measures (average monthly utilization) for IHSS and CBAS have been added to the LTSS Dashboard to align with CDSS and CDA monthly reporting.

Refer to the LTSS-Dashboard (ca.gov) program page for: 1) a Fact Sheet with highlights from the initial data release including changes over time in use of Home and Community-Based Services as well as select demographic information; 2) the Measure Specifications document – that describes business rules and inclusion/exclusion criteria related to age groups, plan types, aid code, geographic, or other important program/waiver-specific eligibility criteria; and 3) User guide – that shows how to navigate the Open Data Portal data file with specific examples.

    Description

    Introduction

California Health and Human Services (CalHHS) single and multi-program participation counts with demographics by year and geography, both the Annual (cumulative) and July (point in time) files. The data dictionary for each file is loaded as a resource within the CSV preview page.

    Background

The CalHHS Program Data and Dashboard contain participation data related to seven California Health & Human Services agency programs: CalWORKs, CalFresh, In-Home Supportive Services, Foster Care, Medi-Cal (California Medicaid), Women, Infants, & Children, and Developmental Services. Users are able to view these data at the county level or by legislative district level (U.S. Congress, State Assembly, State Senate). Statistics on persons served, persons per case, average grant amount, and basic demographics are presented in both tabular spreadsheets and customizable visualizations by program. In addition to presenting statistics for each program separately, the dashboard also provides data on the number of individuals participating in more than one program at the same time in a given district or county.

    Methodology

The Children's Data Network has prepared a methodology document for the process involved in creating this data. If you would like to review the methodology used, please click the link below to visit the CalHHS Records Reconciliation Methodology. https://data.chhs.ca.gov/pages/calhhs-program-counts-methodology

    Description

This dataset was used by Chicago Police Department analysts to create the publicly available “Chicago Police Sentiment Dashboard” (https://home.chicagopolice.org/statistics-data/data-dashboards/sentiment-dashboard/). This online dashboard displays information related to how safe Chicago residents feel and how much trust they have in the police. The dashboard and this dataset are updated monthly and users are able to view data citywide, as well as within the five detective areas and in each of the 22 districts. Users can sort this data based on year, month and location. Information is also available based on demographics, including age, sex, race, education and income level. The dashboard is meant to improve transparency as well as work toward compliance with the consent decree. The first five columns indicate the type of organizational unit described by the records and which particular unit. Subsequent columns show either a safety or trust score for a demographic group. Scores are derived from responses to survey questions, with each response being a value that ranges from 0-10. Please note that Elucd trust and safety scores are NOT a percentage. A score of 65 means that average response to the questions is 6.5 out of 10. The final two columns show the time period in which the data were collected. The dataset was created by our partner, Elucd (https://elucd.com), through delivering short surveys to Chicago residents through digital ads. See [https://home.chicagopolice.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Dashboard_FAQ_11_25_20.pdf] for more information on the project. This effort is one element of a Chicago Police Department reform process, governed by a consent decree executed between the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Illinois (OAG) and the City of Chicago. For more information on the consent decree, see https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/police-reform/home/consent-decree.html.
