Millenials in the United States are the generation most likely to identify as movie fans, with 41 percent of that cohort identifying as avid movie fans and 42 percent as casual fans - a total of 83 percent. Generation differences are nonetheless of minor significance, when one considers that 79 percent of GenZers and GenZers identify as movie fans, as well as 74 percent of Baby Boomers. Baby Boomers were however less likely to describe themselves as avid fans (25 percent), while more than a third of all other generations described themselves as avid fans.

The frequency of read-aloud time diminished as children grew older, usually because the child could then read independently, though some children eventually swap reading for other activities such as playing video games, watching television, or using social media.
