    Measurement technique
    The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To measure the three variables, namely (a) male population, (b) female population and (b) total population, we initially analyzed and categorized the data for each of the age groups. For age groups we divided it into roughly a 5 year bucket for ages between 0 and 85. For over 85, we aggregated data into a single group for all ages.     About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the data for the East Baton Rouge Parish, LA population pyramid, which represents the East Baton Rouge Parish population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups.     About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the East Baton Rouge Parish population over the last 20 plus years. It lists the population for each year, along with the year on year change in population, as well as the change in percentage terms for each year. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population change of East Baton Rouge Parish across the last two decades. For example, using this dataset, we can identify if the population is declining or increasing. If there is a change, when the population peaked, or if it is still growing and has not reached its peak. We can also compare the trend with the overall trend of United States population over the same period of time.

    Key observations

    In 2023, the population of East Baton Rouge Parish was 448,467, a 0.36% decrease year-by-year from 2022. Previously, in 2022, East Baton Rouge Parish population was 450,091, a decline of 0.77% compared to a population of 453,596 in 2021. Over the last 20 plus years, between 2000 and 2023, population of East Baton Rouge Parish increased by 35,478. In this period, the peak population was 455,899 in the year 2020. It lists the population in each age cohort group along with its percentage relative to the total population of Baton Rouge.     The data presented in this dataset is derived from the latest U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. To portray the median household income within each racial category idetified by the US Census Bureau, we conducted an initial analysis and categorization of the data. Subsequently, we adjusted these figures for inflation using the Consumer Price Index retroactive series via current methods (R-CPI-U-RS). It is important to note that the median household income estimates exclusively represent the identified racial categories and do not incorporate any ethnicity classifications. Households are categorized, and median incomes are reported based on the self-identified race of the head of the household.     Context

    The dataset presents the median household income across different racial categories in West Baton Rouge Parish. It portrays the median household income of the head of household across racial categories (excluding ethnicity) as identified by the Census Bureau. The dataset can be utilized to gain insights into economic disparities and trends and explore the variations in median houshold income for diverse racial categories.

    Key observations

    Based on our analysis of the distribution of West Baton Rouge Parish population by race & ethnicity, the population is predominantly White. This particular racial category constitutes the majority, accounting for 54.27% of the total residents in West Baton Rouge Parish. Notably, the median household income for White households is $99,821. Interestingly, despite the White population being the most populous, it is worth noting that Two or More Races households actually reports the highest median household income, with a median income of $137,679. This reveals that, while Whites may be the most numerous in West Baton Rouge Parish, Two or More Races households experience greater economic prosperity in terms of median household income.

    About this dataset

    Context

    The dataset tabulates the population of Baton Rouge by gender across 18 age groups. It lists the male and female population in each age group along with the gender ratio for Baton Rouge. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Baton Rouge by gender and age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group for both Men and Women in Baton Rouge. Additionally, it can be used to see how the gender ratio changes from birth to senior most age group and male to female ratio across each age group for Baton Rouge.
