Reconstitutions of families from historical parish register baptism, marriage and burial entries of individuals in 26 English parishes (Alcester, Aldenham, Ash, Austrey, Banbury, Birstall, Bottesford, Bridford, Colyton, Dawlish, Earsdon, Gainsborough, Gedling, Great Oakley, Hartland, Ipplepen, Lowestoft, March, Methley, Morchard Bishop, Odiham, Reigate, Shepshed, Southill, Terling and Willingham). These data formed the empirical basis for the population history of England presented in: EA Wrigley, RS Davies, JE Oeppen and RS Schofield: 'English Population History from Family Reconstitution: 1580-1837' (Cambridge University Press, 1997).

Using families reconstructed from baptism, burial and marriage records from Anglican parish registers as a national population sample to explore the demographic history of England. This included detailed studies of fertility, mortality and nuptiality, and refinements to previous estimates of population size and structure.

    Description

The excavation of four hundred complete and partial in situ burials from the Hospital of St. John the Evangelist, Cambridge, represented one of the largest medieval hospital osteoarchaeological assemblages from the British Isles. The significance of the group is enhanced by the detailed investigation of a carefully maintained network of pathways associated with the cemetery, the archaeological sequence that pre- and post-dated its use and a number of contemporary properties that were situated immediately outside its bounds. This evidence allows the cemetery to be placed within its urban context in a way that is rarely possible. The overwhelming majority of the burials were extended west-east aligned supine inhumations without grave-goods. Atypical burials included examples aligned east-west and south-north, a double burial, a prone burial and individuals buried with a jet crucifix and a brooch. Other significant finds included a nearby pit with four bodies in it, an anthropomorphic bone handle and a reused cruciform horse harness pendant. The proportion of males and females in the burial population is similar, whilst individuals who died under the age of sixteen are relatively uncommon and individuals aged under five are completely absent.

    Description

This GIS shapefile provides boundary and attribute data for the parishes and places enumerated in the 1851 census for England and Wales. These data derive from the 173 digital maps of the boundaries of English and Welsh parishes and their subdivisions produced to a very high standard by Roger Kain and Richard Oliver in 2001, which was expertly converted into a single GIS of some 28000 polygons by Burton et al in 2004. However, what they produced was not yet ready for the mapping of census data due to a modest number (<10%) of administrative units which either lacked boundaries, were unlocated, had labelling errors, or incorrect census numbers. The Occupational Structure of Britain c.1379-1911 research programme undertook the task of enhancing the Burton et al. GIS to provide a comprehensive shapefile of parish and places as listed in the 1851 and 1831 censuses for the mapping of demographic and occupational data with tolerable accuracy for the whole of England and Wales. To this end it was also decided to add additional attributes concerning counties, hundreds and boroughs in 1831, counties in 1851 and registration sub-districts, districts and counties in 1851 from which shapefiles of these different larger scale administrative units could be assembled.

These data were created as part of a research program directed by Leigh Shaw-Taylor and Tony Wrigley, which aims ultimately to reconstruct the evolution of the occupational structure of Britain from the late medieval period down to the early twentieth century.

    Description

According to Cognitive Market Research, The Global K 12 International Schools market size is USD 7.8 billion in 2023 and will expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9.00% from 2023 to 2030.

The demand for K-12 International Schools is rising due to the growing international education.
Demand for English language international schools remains higher in the K 12 International Schools market.
The international baccalaureate category held the highest K 12 International Schools market revenue share in 2023.
North American K 12 International Schools will continue to lead, whereas the European K 12 International Schools market will experience the most substantial growth until 2030.

Increase in Government Initiatives to Provide Viable Market Output

The increasing government initiatives propel the growth of the K 12 International Schools market. Policymakers worldwide are increasingly recognizing the importance of quality education and are implementing initiatives to enhance the accessibility and standards of K12 education. Financial support, curriculum development, and infrastructure improvements are common focus areas. These initiatives aim to foster a conducive learning environment, boost student outcomes, and prepare future generations for a rapidly evolving global landscape. As governments actively invest in education the K12 international schools market benefits from a supportive regulatory framework and increased resources, fostering growth and innovation in the sector.

For instance, Saudi Arabia announced the 'Madrasati' e-learning platform in 2020. In 2021, the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) ranked it among the seven top global e-learning platforms.

Growing Demand for International Education to Propel Market Growth

The growth of international education has significantly impacted the K 12 International Schools market. Parents increasingly recognize the importance of a globally oriented curriculum that fosters cultural awareness and equips students with a competitive edge in the global job market. International schools offer diverse and comprehensive learning experiences, often incorporating internationally recognized curricula such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) or Cambridge Assessment International Education. This demand is further fueled by the rise in expatriate populations, the desire for English language proficiency, and the aspiration for a well-rounded education beyond traditional academic metrics. As a result, the K12 international schools sector is witnessing sustained growth to meet the evolving educational preferences of a globally-minded generation.

For instance, on October 26, 2022, US-headquartered investment house Safanad and international education platform Global School Management propounded an initial investment of $200 million in the Middle East to take over education assets. It significantly boosted their investment as they spread their portfolio of K-12 schools in the region.

    Description

ArcGIS shapefile of 3,316 polygons providing boundary and attribute data for the 2182 registration subdistricts of England and Wales as given in the 1851 census. These data derive from the 173 digital maps of the boundaries of English and Welsh parishes and their subdivisions produced by Roger Kain and Richard Oliver based on the listing in the 1851 census.

These data were created as part of a research program directed by Leigh Shaw-Taylor and Tony Wrigley, which aims ultimately to reconstruct the evolution of the occupational structure of Britain from the late medieval period down to the early twentieth century.
