    Description

OBJECTIVE To examine whether demographic, socioeconomic conditions, oral health subjectivity and characterization of dental care are associated with users’ dissatisfaction with such are.METHODS Cross-sectional study of 781 people who required dental care in Montes Claros, MG, Southeastern Brazil, in 2012, a city with of medium-sized population situated in the North of Minas Gerais. Household interviews were conducted to assess the users’ dissatisfaction with dental care (dependent variable), demographic, socioeconomic conditions, oral health subjectivity and characterization of dental care (independent variables). Sample calculation was used for the finite population, with estimates made for proportions of dissatisfaction in 50.0% of the population, a 5.0% error margin, a non-response rate of 5.0% and a 2.0% design effect. Logistic regression was used, and the odds ratio was calculated with a 5% significance level and 95% confidence intervals.RESULTS Of the interviewed individuals, 9.0% (7.9%, with correction for design effect) were dissatisfied with the care provided. These were associated with lower educational level; negative self-assessment of oral health; perception that the care provider was unable to give dental care; negative evaluation of the way the patient was treated, the cleanliness of the rooms, based on the examination rooms and the toilets, and the size of the waiting and examination rooms.CONCLUSIONS The rate of dissatisfaction with dental care was low. This dissatisfaction was associated with socioeconomic conditions, subjectivity of oral health, skill of the health professionals relating to the professional-patient relationship and facility infrastructure. Educational interventions are suggested that aim at improving the quality of care among professionals by responsible agencies as is improving the infrastructure of the care units.

    Description

    Dental Explorers Market Outlook

The global dental explorers market size was valued at approximately USD 1.3 billion in 2023 and is poised to reach an estimated USD 2.1 billion by 2032, reflecting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.6% from 2024 to 2032. The market growth is mainly driven by the increasing prevalence of dental disorders and the rising awareness about oral health globally. The surge in dental visits, coupled with advancements in dental diagnostic tools, are significant contributors to this market's robust expansion.

One of the primary growth factors for the dental explorers market is the growing aging population, which is more susceptible to dental problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer. The World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that by 2050, the global population aged 60 years and older will total 2 billion, up from 900 million in 2015. This demographic shift significantly increases the demand for dental services and preventive care, thereby driving the need for dental explorers. Moreover, the increased focus on preventive dental care to avoid complex procedures is further accelerating market growth.

Technological advancements in dental diagnostic tools are another major growth driver. Innovations such as digital dental explorers, which provide more accurate and detailed assessments of dental health, are becoming more prevalent. These tools help in early detection of dental issues, thereby improving patient outcomes. The integration of such advanced diagnostic tools in dental practices is not only enhancing the precision of dental examinations but also reducing the time required for diagnosis, which is highly beneficial for both patients and dental professionals.

Additionally, the rising dental tourism industry is contributing to the growth of the dental explorers market. Countries like India, Thailand, and Mexico have become popular destinations for dental procedures due to their cost-effective services and high-quality care. This trend is not only boosting the market in those regions but also prompting technological advancements and investments in dental equipment, including explorers, in order to cater to the influx of international patients. Moreover, dental insurance coverage has been expanding, allowing more people to afford regular dental check-ups and treatments, thus driving the demand for dental explorers.

From a regional perspective, North America holds a dominant position in the dental explorers market, driven by high healthcare expenditure, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and a significant focus on oral health. Europe follows as the second-largest market due to similar healthcare standards and an increasing geriatric population. The Asia Pacific region is expected to witness the highest growth rate during the forecast period, driven by rising healthcare investments, increasing awareness about dental health, and growing medical tourism. Countries like China and India are anticipated to be key contributors to this regional growth.

    Product Type Analysis

The dental explorers market is segmented into double-ended explorers and single-ended explorers. Double-ended explorers are widely used in dental practices due to their versatility and efficiency. These tools feature different types of explorer tips on either end, allowing dentists to perform multiple diagnostic procedures without the need to switch instruments. The convenience offered by double-ended explorers makes them a popular choice in both diagnostic and surgical applications. This segment is expected to maintain a significant market share over the forecast period, driven by its broad usage and the ongoing need for efficient dental diagnostic tools.

Single-ended explorers, on the other hand, have a more specialized application but are equally important in dental diagnostics. These tools are typically used for precise examination of specific areas in the mouth. They are particularly useful in detecting areas of decay, calculus, and other abnormalities. The single-ended explorers market is anticipated to grow steadily, supported by increasing demand for specialized dental diagnostic tools that offer precision. Innovations in single-ended explorers, such as ergonomic designs and advanced materials for better durability and comfort, are also contributing to the market's growth.

    Dental Care Market Outlook

According to our latest research, the global dental care market size reached USD 50.4 billion in 2024, reflecting robust demand and increasing awareness regarding oral health. The market is growing at a steady CAGR of 6.2% from 2025 to 2033, driven by technological advancements, rising prevalence of dental diseases, and expanding consumer focus on preventive dental care. By 2033, the dental care market is forecasted to reach USD 86.1 billion, marking significant expansion in both developed and emerging regions. As per the latest research, this growth trajectory is underpinned by a confluence of demographic shifts, increasing disposable incomes, and enhanced access to innovative dental products and services worldwide.

One of the primary growth factors propelling the dental care market is the surging prevalence of dental disorders such as caries, periodontal diseases, and oral cancers. The World Health Organization estimates that oral diseases affect nearly 3.5 billion people globally, underscoring the urgent need for effective dental care solutions. This widespread occurrence of oral health issues has heightened public awareness and prompted governments and private organizations to invest in oral health promotion campaigns. Additionally, the increased adoption of preventive dental care practices, such as regular brushing, flossing, and use of mouthwashes, has fueled demand for a diverse range of dental care products. The growing trend of cosmetic dentistry, including teeth whitening and orthodontic procedures, further contributes to the expansion of the market, as consumers seek to enhance both oral health and aesthetics.

Technological innovation is another significant driver shaping the dental care market landscape. The integration of digital technologies, including teledentistry, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence, has revolutionized dental diagnostics, treatment planning, and patient engagement. These advancements have improved the accuracy and efficiency of dental procedures, resulting in better patient outcomes and increased adoption of dental care services. The proliferation of smart toothbrushes, personalized oral care solutions, and minimally invasive dental treatments is also transforming consumer expectations and elevating the standard of care. Furthermore, the rise of e-commerce platforms and direct-to-consumer models has made dental care products more accessible, especially in remote and underserved regions, thereby broadening the market’s reach.

Demographic trends, particularly the aging global population, play a pivotal role in the growth of the dental care market. The geriatric population, which is more susceptible to dental problems such as tooth loss, gum disease, and oral cancer, is expanding at an unprecedented rate. This demographic shift, coupled with increasing life expectancy, has created a substantial demand for specialized dental care products and services tailored to older adults. Moreover, rising disposable incomes and changing lifestyles in emerging economies have led to greater expenditure on oral hygiene and cosmetic dental treatments. As consumers become more health-conscious and value-driven, the demand for premium and innovative dental products continues to rise, further propelling market growth.

From a regional perspective, North America currently dominates the global dental care market, accounting for the largest revenue share in 2024, followed by Europe and Asia Pacific. The high prevalence of dental diseases, advanced healthcare infrastructure, and strong presence of leading market players contribute to North America’s leadership position. However, the Asia Pacific region is poised for the fastest growth during the forecast period, driven by increasing healthcare expenditure, rising awareness about oral health, and a burgeoning middle-class population. Latin America and the Middle East & Africa are also witnessing steady growth, supported by improving healthcare access and government initiatives to promote oral hygiene. This diverse regional landscape underscores the global nature of the dental care market and highlights the need for tailored strategies to address unique market dynamics across different geographies.

    Description

ABSTRACT Objective: This retrospective study evaluated the demographic profile of patients and the clinical characteristics of dental emergencies in a brazilian university outpatient clinic. Methods: During the period from June 2013 to May 2014, data were collected from 1.345 clinical records. Chief complaint, gender, age, systemic alteration, clinical inspection of the affected tooth, pulp and periapical diagnosis, the type of procedure performed and whether there was the need for post-operative systemic medication. Data were analyzed using the SAS software and chi-square test was used to verify the presence or absence of statistical significance at a level of 5%. Results: Dental pain (53.3%) was the main reason why people attended the emergency service, that is, female patients (63.1%), aged 29-48 years old (42%), patients without systemic conditions (75%), and patients with decayed teeth (25%). In addition, involvement of lower molars (29.81%) and diagnosis of irreversible pulpitis (30.42%) were the most frequent findings. Emergency endodontic treatment (45.8%) was the most performed procedure. Irreversible pulpitis (30.4%) and pulp necrosis associated with acute apical periodontitis (21.9%) were the most frequent conditions requiring emergency endodontic treatment, and in most cases, there was no need for post-operative systemic medications (95.7%). Conclusion: The prevalence of endodontic emergencies during the period of one year emphasizes the need for more accurate diagnosis and the importance of providing this service to the population.

    Description

In the rapidly evolving field of dental intelligent healthcare, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role, the demand for multimodal datasets is critical. Existing public datasets are primarily composed of single-modal data, predominantly dental radiographs or scans, which limits the development of AI-driven applications for intelligent dental treatment. In this paper, we collect a MultiModal Dental (MMDental) dataset to address this gap. MMDental comprises data from 660 patients, including 3D Cone-beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) images and corresponding detailed expert medical records with initial diagnoses and follow-up documentation. All CBCT scans are conducted under the guidance of professional physicians, and all patient records are reviewed by senior doctors. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first and largest dataset containing 3D CBCT images of teeth with corresponding medical records. Furthermore, we provide a comprehensive analysis of the dataset by exploring patient demographics, prevalence of various dental conditions, and the disease distribution across age groups. We believe this work will be beneficial for further advancements in dental intelligent treatment.

    Description

Over the past five years, dentists have faced changes and challenges. The pandemic caused a notable drop in revenue as monthly dental visits fell. However, as restrictions eased, the industry rebounded in 2021, with visit volumes and expenditures returning to pre-pandemic levels. This recovery happened amid persistent cost pressures because of rising prices for supplies and equipment, worsened by supply chain disruptions. Also, labor shortages forced dental practices to offer higher wages to attract and retain staff, squeezing profit. Despite these economic pressures, industry-wide revenue expanded at a CAGR of 3.9% to an estimated $190.4 billion in 2025, with a projected growth of 2.9% in 2025 alone. Legislation measures have enhanced work opportunities for dental professionals to address rising costs. The American Dental Association (ADA) and similar organizations are addressing workforce shortages with initiatives like interstate license compacts. These developments and the rise of Dental Service Organizations (DSOs) have significantly transformed organizational structures. By 2023, only 72.0% of dentists owned their practices, down from 85.0% in 2005, with nearly 13.0% affiliating with DSOs. This trend has attracted considerable private equity investment and firms now own 90.0% of top-performing DSOs. Dental practices adjust to insurance changes by offering membership packages, providing a cost-effective and transparent alternative to patients. Despite economic sensitivity, payment options with dental financing have supported the growing demand for cosmetic dentistry and expensive treatments. Looking to the future, technological advancements will impact quality, cost and delivery. Innovations like 3D printing, artificial intelligence (AI) and teledentistry enhance service precision, efficiency and accessibility. 3D printing enables the creation of highly accurate dental products, while AI improves diagnostics and treatment planning. However, these innovations require significant investment and mergers and acquisitions are expected to increase because solo practices often cannot meet the financial requirements or the scale to justify the expenditure independently. Although the dental sector demonstrated resilience to economic downturns, an aging population ensures a steady demand for age-related dental services, promoting revenue stability. Efforts to diversify revenue sources and offer innovative payment methods could shield the industry from economic volatility. Despite labor challenges, insurance program funding and affiliation changes, revenue is expected to strengthen at a CAGR of 2.1% to reach an estimated $211.6 billion in 2030, with profit increasing.

The synchronous teledentistry market is experiencing robust growth, projected to reach $149.2 million in 2025 and exhibiting a remarkable Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 21.1% from 2025 to 2033. This significant expansion is driven by several key factors. Increased access to high-speed internet and affordable smartphones has broadened the reach of telehealth services, making remote dental consultations more convenient and accessible for patients in underserved areas or those with mobility challenges. Furthermore, rising healthcare costs and a growing preference for convenient, cost-effective healthcare solutions are fueling demand for teledentistry. The integration of advanced technologies like high-resolution cameras and sophisticated diagnostic software enhances the quality and effectiveness of remote dental examinations, further driving market growth. Key players like SmileDirectClub, Byte, Align Technology, and Candid are actively shaping the market landscape through innovative service offerings and strategic partnerships. The market's segmentation, though not explicitly provided, likely includes various service types (e.g., consultations, diagnosis, remote monitoring) and target patient demographics (e.g., adults, children, specialized needs). The sustained growth trajectory of the synchronous teledentistry market is expected to continue throughout the forecast period (2025-2033). However, challenges remain. Concerns surrounding data security and patient privacy, regulatory hurdles in various regions, and the limitations of remote diagnosis in complex cases are potential restraints. Addressing these concerns through robust cybersecurity measures, clear regulatory frameworks, and the development of advanced diagnostic tools will be crucial for continued market expansion. The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into teledentistry platforms holds significant promise for improving diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, further solidifying the market’s position in the broader healthcare landscape. Description

The global dental implant services market is experiencing robust growth, driven by an aging population with increased disposable income, rising prevalence of periodontal diseases, and advancements in implant technology leading to improved treatment outcomes and patient comfort. The market is characterized by a diverse range of service providers, from large corporate dental chains like Aspen Dental and Maven Dental to smaller independent practices and specialized clinics such as ClearChoice and Mayo Clinic (known for their comprehensive services). Technological advancements, including minimally invasive techniques, digital dentistry (using CAD/CAM technology for implant design and fabrication), and improved biomaterials, are key drivers, attracting investment and fostering competition. The market's growth is further fueled by increasing dental insurance coverage and rising awareness of cosmetic dentistry options, making dental implants a more accessible and desirable treatment for a wider demographic. However, high treatment costs remain a significant restraint, particularly in developing countries. This is often mitigated by financing options offered by providers and a growing focus on affordable, accessible care. Segmentation within the market includes types of implants (e.g., titanium, zirconia), treatment procedures (e.g., single-tooth, full-arch), and patient demographics (age, income). Future market expansion will be largely contingent on ongoing technological innovation, affordability improvements, and successful integration of advanced digital technologies into clinical practice. The competitive landscape is dynamic, with established players consolidating their market share through mergers and acquisitions, while smaller, specialized clinics differentiate themselves through specialized services and advanced technologies. Geographic variations in market growth reflect disparities in healthcare infrastructure, access to dental care, and economic development levels. North America and Europe currently dominate the market, but substantial growth is anticipated in emerging economies in Asia-Pacific and Latin America as healthcare infrastructure develops and disposable incomes rise. The forecast period (2025-2033) suggests continued market expansion driven by the factors mentioned above, leading to a significant increase in market value. Future growth will likely see increased adoption of digital technologies, minimally invasive techniques, and a greater emphasis on personalized patient care and treatment planning.

Flexible Payment Fintech for Dental Care Market Outlook

As per our latest research, the global Flexible Payment Fintech for Dental Care market size reached USD 3.7 billion in 2024, demonstrating robust growth driven by the rising demand for accessible dental care financing solutions. The market is projected to expand at a CAGR of 15.2% from 2025 to 2033, reaching an estimated USD 13.2 billion by the end of the forecast period. The primary growth factor fueling this market is the increasing adoption of digital payment platforms and fintech innovations that make dental care more affordable and accessible for a broader patient demographic.

One of the core drivers of the Flexible Payment Fintech for Dental Care market is the growing awareness among consumers regarding the importance of oral health coupled with the rising costs of dental procedures. With dental care often being excluded or minimally covered by insurance, a significant portion of patients face out-of-pocket expenses. This financial barrier has led to increased demand for flexible payment solutions such as point-of-sale financing, buy now pay later (BNPL) options, and installment loans. Fintech providers are leveraging advanced technologies to offer seamless, real-time credit assessments and customized payment plans, thereby enhancing patient affordability and improving treatment acceptance rates in dental practices globally.

Another significant factor contributing to market growth is the rapid digital transformation within the healthcare sector, especially post-pandemic. Dental practices and clinics are increasingly adopting cloud-based fintech platforms to streamline payment processes, reduce administrative burdens, and improve patient experience. These digital solutions not only facilitate instant approvals and transparent payment terms but also integrate with practice management systems, allowing providers to offer personalized financing options at the point of care. The convenience and flexibility offered by these fintech solutions are encouraging more dental clinics and specialty centers to partner with fintech companies, further accelerating market expansion.

Moreover, the competitive landscape of the dental care industry is prompting providers to differentiate themselves by offering value-added services such as flexible payment options. This trend is particularly evident in regions with high out-of-pocket healthcare expenditure, where patients are increasingly seeking alternative financing methods to manage dental costs. Fintech companies are responding by introducing innovative products tailored to various dental care applications, including orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, and oral surgery. As a result, the integration of fintech solutions in dental care is not only enhancing patient satisfaction but also driving revenue growth for dental service providers.

Patient Financing Solutions are becoming increasingly vital in the dental care industry, as they provide patients with the necessary financial flexibility to access essential treatments without the immediate burden of high costs. These solutions are designed to cater to a diverse range of patient needs, offering various plans that can be customized based on the patient's financial situation and treatment requirements. By enabling patients to spread out payments over time, patient financing solutions not only enhance affordability but also encourage more individuals to seek timely dental care. This approach is particularly beneficial for patients undergoing extensive procedures such as orthodontics or oral surgery, where costs can be prohibitive. As a result, dental practices that offer patient financing solutions are witnessing higher treatment acceptance rates and improved patient satisfaction, ultimately driving growth in the dental care market.

Regionally, North America dominated the Flexible Payment Fintech for Dental Care market in 2024, accounting for the largest share due to its advanced healthcare infrastructure, high adoption of digital payment technologies, and favorable regulatory environment. Europe follows closely, driven by increasing investments in healthcare fintech and growing awareness of oral health. The Asia Pacific region is expected to witness the highest CAGR during the forecast period, fueled by rising dental care expenditure, expanding middle-class population, and rapid digitalization of healthcare services.
