Generally, census tracts have between 2,500 and 8,000 residents and boundaries that follow visible features. The purpose of this layer is to provide an accurate representation of impervious surfaces in the City and County of Denver. This layer combines Stormwater Billing impervious surfaces with Planimetric impervious surfaces; allowing for a comprehensive, city-wide, impervious surface layer.This layer is a compilation of two independent sources of impervious surface data. The data is provided by both the City and County of Denver’s Public Works Wastewater Management Division-Customer Service (WMD-CS) and Kucera International Inc.The WMD-CS data represents areas digitized for all stormwater billing inspections after December 2002 and contains impervious surface delineations of each inspected property. These features are updated daily by WMD-CS field investigators and GIS personnel. The planimetric data, supplied by Kucera International Inc, defines the stereocompiled features of the DRCOG Denver Region Urbanized Project Area. The features were compiled from the Denver Regional Aerial Photography Project (DRAPP) 2016 Aerial Imagery Acquisition and Production. This 1"=100' scale imagery is comprised of 4-band RGBIR color orthoimagery with a GSD (Ground Sample Distance) of 0.5'. Imagery was collected with the Leica ADS40 and ADS80 digital sensors and processed with Leica XPro software. Imagery is projected in State Plane Coordinate System, Colorado central zone using the Lambert Conformal Conic map projection parameters. Horizontal and vertical datums are NAD83(11) and NAVD88(GEOID12A) respectively. The planimetric features are static.
The U.S. Census Bureau's year 2010 census tract boundaries and data for the City and County of Denver. The original census tract boundaries have been adjusted to various Denver GIS data layers to increase the spatial accuracy of this data. Although every effort was made to ensure the accurate rectification of the data, due to geographic problems inherent in the original 2010 TIGER Shapefiles, errors may exist. This data-set includes the housing and population data from redistricting file P.L. 94-171 of the 2010 census. The data-set does not contain data for any enclaves administered by other jurisdictions that are located within the City and County of Denver's boundary.

The TIGER2020 City Boundaries include both incorporated places (legal entities) and census designated places or CDPs (statistical entities). An incorporated place is established to provide governmental functions for a concentration of people as opposed to a minor civil division (MCD), which generally is created to provide services or administer an area without regard, necessarily, to population. Places always nest within a State, but may extend across county and county subdivision boundaries. An incorporated place usually is a city, town, village, or borough. CDPs are delineated for the decennial census as the statistical counterparts of incorporated places. CDPs are delineated to provide data for settled concentrations of population that are identifiable by name, but are not legally incorporated under the laws of the State in which they are located. The boundaries for CDPs often are defined in partnership with State, local, and/or tribal officials and usually coincide with visible features or the boundary of an adjacent incorporated place or another legal entity. The only population/housing size requirement for CDPs for the 2020 Census is that they must contain some housing and population.
After analyzing the map, there are some spatial concerns that need to be addressed. Most of the city has a trend of low median household income, and the least poor being in the central part of the city. The neighborhood of Jefferson in the eastern part of Denver is evidence of a food desert, as well as in the Lakeside suburb and Westwood (“Planting Seeds in Food Deserts: Neighborhood Gardens, Produce in Corner Stores” 2014) . One thing that really stood out to me was the lack of grocery stores in the eastern part of Denver, just bordering Aurora. This area is a food desert, and the average income of the area is below average. The wealthier neighborhoods are granted more sufficient access just near this part of Denver. We also see quality access to food towards the center of the city in the areas with lower income. The further we move outwards, the more and more the grocery stores start spreading out from a cluster form. From analyzing the map, it seems like living on the outskirts of Denver is where the lower income households will struggle with access to food
There are some very wealthy neighborhoods, specifically along Colorado Boulevard, where there are a lot of high quality grocery stores. This extensive street only has grocery stores located in the wealthy part of it. If we look north, towards the interstate, we see absolutely none located along Colorado Blvd. It is clear that the grocery stores were placed in the central part of Colorado Blvd, as opposed to the northern and southern parts where the average income is much lower. The City Engineering Quarter Section Map Index contains information regarding City Engineering quarter section numbers and Public Land Survey System (PLSS) information for each quarter section in the City and County of Denver, as well as a few of the surrounding section quarters. For each quarter section of the PLSS in the City and County of Denver, the City Engineering (later the City Surveyor's office) developed and maintained a linen sheet depicting subdivision, lot, ordinance, and easement data in that quarter section. Using Broadway and Colfax Avenue as the dividing lines, the CCD is broken into four quadrants, and the quarter sections for each quadrant are numbered beginning with 1. NOTE: Maintenance of these quarter section sheets was discontinued after 1996 due to the development of the CCD GIS.

Citation: Manley, W.F., Parrish, E.G., and Lestak, L.R., 2009, High-Resolution Orthorectified Imagery and Digital Elevation Models for Study of Environmental Change at Niwot Ridge and Green Lakes Valley, Colorado: Niwot Ridge LTER, INSTAAR, University of Colorado at Boulder, digital media. This image is a mosaic of orthorectified aerial photography from 1938 for the Niwot Ridge Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project area at 0.3 m resolution. The 1946 companion mosaic covers the western portion of the Niwot LTER and Green Lakes Valley portion of the Boulder Creek Critical Zone Observatory (CZO) project area and was produced with maximum overlap of the 1938 mosaic. The mosaic has the qualities of a photograph and the functionality of a map layer for use in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or remote sensing software. The mosaic is derived from approx. 1:20,000 scale, black and white (grayscale) photographs acquired by the United States Forest Service (USFS). The aerial photos were obtained as 1800 dpi digital scans from the Colorado Aerial Photo Service and then fully orthorectified in a Leica Photogrammetry Suite (LPS) bundle blockfile using a non-metric camera model, estimated focal length, calculated flying height and no fiducials. Individual photo frames were mosaiced with cutlines, then adjusted with additional geocorrection in ArcMap using a 3rd order polynomial warp, and clipped to the Niwot project extent area. The photography was registered to 2008 orthocorrected Denver Region Council of Governments (DRCOG) aerial photography. Horizontal accuracy is 7.0 m (RMSE, relative to the 2008 reference imagery, based on 4 independent check points). The mosaic covers an area of 55 km2 and is available in GeoTIFF format, in a UTM zone 13 projection and NAD83 horizontal datum, with FGDC-compliant metadata. The mosaic is available through an unrestricted public license, and can be obtained by request (see Distributor contact information below). Other datasets available in this series includes orthorectified aerial photograph mosaics (for 1946, 1953, 1972, 1985, 1990, 1999, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008), digital elevation models (DEM's), and accessory map layers. Together, the DEM's and imagery will be of interest to students, research scientists, and others for observation and analysis of natural features and ecosystems. NOTE: This EML metadata file does not contain important geospatial data processing information. Before using any NWT LTER geospatial data read the arcgis metadata XML file in either ISO or FGDC compliant format, using ArcGIS software (ArcCatalog > description), or by viewing the .xml file provided with the geospatial dataset.
