The census table splits out races by hispanic and non-hispanic ethnicity. For the purposes of this feature, White, Black, Hispanic or no predominant race were used as the possible categories. If there was no race or ethnicnicity over 50% of the population, then there is no predominant race.

These include the City of Detroit, the Detroit Land Bank Authority, the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority, the State of Michigan, Wayne County, the United States Government, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, and Detroit Public Schools. The ownership information generally dates from 2013 to early 2014; see the field description metadata for further information.DISCLAIMER: This file seeks to identify parcels that are owned by a governmental or other public entity. However, ownership of properties changes frequently, particularly between public entities, and the data sources that this file is built from date from 2013 through the spring of 2014. Since there has been considerable time for the ownership of some of these properties to change, D3 is producing this file as an indicator of Likely Public Ownership. This file is intended to help highlight the breadth and scale of public ownership in the City of Detroit, and any decisions based off of this file should be confirmed through investigating legal ownership records.Metadata associated with this file includes field description metadata and a narrative summary detailing the creation of the dataset. For more information on the Motor City Mapping project, please visit www.motorcitymapping.org.

    Description

These data were created as part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's efforts to create an online mapping viewer called the NOAA Lake Level Viewer. It depicts potential lake level rise and fall and its associated impacts on the nation's coastal areas. The purpose of the mapping viewer is to provide coastal managers and scientists with a preliminary look at lake level change, coastal flooding impacts, and exposed lakeshore. The viewer is a screening-level tool that uses nationally consistent data sets and analyses. Data and maps provided can be used at several scales to help gauge trends and prioritize actions for different scenarios. The NOAA Lake Level Viewer may be accessed at: https://coast.noaa.gov/llv. This metadata record describes the Lake Michigan digital elevation model (DEM), which is a part of a series of DEMs produced for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management's Lake Level Viewer described above. This DEM includes the best available lidar, US Army Corps of Engineer dredge surveys, and National Park Service multibeam data known to exist at the time of DEM creation that met project specifications. This DEM includes data for Allegan, Antrim, Benzie, Berrien, Charlevoix, Delta, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Mackinac, Manistee, Mason, Menominee, Muskegon, Oceana, Ottawa, Schoolcraft, and Van Buren counties in Michigan; Lake, La Porte, and Porter Counties in Indiana, Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois, and Brown, Door, Kenosha, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Milwaukee, Oconto, Ozaukee, Racine, and Sheboygan Counties in Wisconsin. Description

Wayne County follows a relatively fixed process for initiating tax foreclosures. The county serves notice to any parcel that is more than three years delinquent on property tax payments, and these properties are then sold to the highest bidder in two auctions - one in early September, and one in October. While there have been some exceptions to this schedule (a June 2012 auction of unsold foremost among them), properties listed in the September tax auction represent a strong proxy for identifying the universe of tax-foreclosed properties. This file identifies parcels within the City of Detroit that were listed in the September Wayne County tax foreclosure auction in any year from 2002 through 2013. It contains information on year of foreclosure, as well as the total number of times that a property has been subject to tax foreclosure. The work to produce this dataset was conducted in September 2013, and the data were subsequently integrated into the Motor City Mapping project. The purpose of this file is to help provide information on how Detroit's tax foreclosure crisis has developed over time, enabling community members and decision-makers to make more informed decisions when developing strategies to combat this growing problem. Metadata associated with this file includes field description metadata and a narrative summary detailing the creation of the dataset. For more information on the Motor City Mapping project, please visit www.motorcitymapping.org, and to learn more about the Wayne County Tax Foreclosure process, please visit this website: http://www.waynecounty.com/treasurer/783.htm.

This data is used in the Materials Management Facilities Web App (Item Details). From the Michigan Association of Regions (MAR) website: "The Michigan Association of Regions is a state association of the fourteen (14) regional councils in Michigan. MAR consists of a policy board of local elected and appointed officials that meets periodically to discuss regional policy issues and programs, and adopts legislative positions. MAR also has an Executive Directors Committee that meets monthly. Member services consists of advocacy of regional programs, training and education, research, membership surveys, networking, as well as liaison to national associations, including the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) and the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO).State Designated Planning and Development Regions are voluntary organizations comprised of local governments dedicated to serving the regional planning needs of multi-county areas in all parts of Michigan. They are a form of local government voluntarily created by their members, which are largely representative of local governments in the region; although membership also includes road authorities, nonprofit organizations and representatives of the business community in many regions. The land area of Michigan is divided into 14 planning & development regions with counties as the organizing unit. They range widely in size. Five have only three counties, while one has fourteen counties. The two smallest are only 1,711-13 square miles each in size, while the largest is 8,735 square miles in size. Population served varies from 57,510 persons to 4,833,493 based on Census estimates in 2000. Population density ranges from under 14 persons/square mile in Region 13 (Western U.P.), to over 1,043 persons/square mile in Region 1 (Southeast Michigan). The oldest of today’s regions, Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Region 6 in Lansing, formed in 1956), and the three county Detroit Metropolitan Area Regional Planning Commission (formed in 1947and subsequently replaced by the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments in 1968 (SEMCOG, which covers seven counties in SE Michigan), originated out of a desire by local officials to coordinate transportation infrastructure planning and to serve as a forum for other regional issues."These boundaries are static and were digitized from boundaries shared on the Michigan Association of Regions (MAR) website in March 2023. They were digitized for inclusion on the Materials Management Division's facilities web map. For questions or comments, reach out to EGLE-Maps@Michigan.gov.
