    A building permit is the approval given by the Buildings, Safety, Engineering and Environmental Department (BSEED) to complete work on a building according to City Codes and State of Michigan Construction Codes. Column definitionsrecord_idUnique identifier used to track this permit within BSEED's Accela database.street_numStreet number of the property address where the permit was issued.street_dirStreet direction of the property address where the permit was issued.street_nameStreet name of the property address where the permit was issued.street_typeStreet type for the property address where the permit was issued.submitted_dateDate the application was received. Applications are submitted to BSEED by property owners or licensed professionals.issued_dateDate the permit was issued. The permit is issued when the permit application is approved. Permits are issued by BSEED staff.days_to_completeNumber of days the permit holder was given to complete activities articulated in the permit. The permit holder is generally given 6 months to complete the permit work and more time if there are consistent inspection activities.statusCurrent status of the permit. All records provided here have a status of Issued.amountThis is the amount the permit applicant was required to pay for the permit.current_legal_useThe building's current Type of Use.     A Certificate of Compliance is issued by the Buildings, Safety, Engineering, and Environmental Department (BSEED) for commercial properties within the City of Detroit that have met all life safety and code requirements. Once obtained, a Commercial Certificate of Compliance is valid for two years from date of issuance. A Certificate of Compliance must be obtained for all commercial buildings and structures in the City of Detroit, whether active or vacant. All inspections and processes are conducted in accordance with the provisions of the City of Detroit Property Maintenance Code, Chapter 8 of the Detroit City Code and the City of Detroit Zoning Ordinance, Chapter 50 of the Detroit City Code. This data set is limited to currently valid Certificates of Compliance.
