Police precinct areas for the city of Detroit.

The 2014 precinct data provides a comprehensive map of the City of Detroit’s Police Department precincts. The precincts were created by building from the squad car areas dataset published on the City of Detroit’s open data portal in 2014. However, D3 staff revised the precinct geographies to reflect the maps displayed on the police department’s website since the Scout Car Areas didn't line up consistently. It is possible to view each individual precinct boundary and squad car area on the City of Detroit Police Department’s website. This map was created in order to layout the boundaries of each precinct on one map, providing a complete map of all twelve police precincts. This map was created using ArcMap by Alexis Farmer and D3 staff on July 7, 2015.

These are the locations of police stations in Detroit In 2012. Some stations have likely closed since. Users should check the Detroit Police Department website for current information.

The Detroit Police Department provided property and violent crime location data for 2016. Data Driven Detroit aggregated the data up to a block level. The Detroit Police Department and more than 30 businesses in the Central Business District have partnered together to launch this program to provide shelter, aid, safety, information and potential lodging for those in temporary need of assistance. Each participating business, known as a Lighthouse, has security personnel available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist those in need. With a simple phone call to 313-471-6490, help will be provided to anyone who is lost, separated from friends, having vehicle trouble or has other safety concerns. In addition, any business displaying a Project Lighthouse banner is considered a safe haven.

The Citizen Radio Patrol Boundaries dataset describes areas with active citizen radio patrols. The Citizen Radio Patrol program was established in 1967 by a Detroit City Council Resolution and has become an essential part of the strength and safety of Detroit's neighborhoods. Community volunteers who participate in this program receive training from DPD and volunteer a small portion of their time each month to patrol their own neighborhood. Volunteers may serve as a patrol base operator, driver, or observer, roles that work together to observe and report any suspicious activity to the police. This Election Boundaries dataset is a composite of all election boundaries within the City of Detroit, including City Council, State House & Senate, Congressional, Police Commissioner, Wayne County Community College Commissioner, Wayne County Commissioner, City of Detroit Election Precincts. The service includes polygons for each corresponding boundary, to view individual boundaries query the dataset via the boundary_t field.
