Independent directors and supervisors simultaneously held summary table (Stock Exchange)
In 2024, women accounted for 15.4 percent of all movie directors in the United States. This figure remained nearly the same as in 2022. However, it marked a decrease compared to 2021, which represented the highest share of female directors recorded in the past decade. Women remain unseen behind the scenes Even though there has been some visible progress over the past few years, diversity remains a hotly contested issue in Hollywood and the entire U.S. entertainment business. The share of female movie writers, for example, still only stood at about 22 percent in 2024 despite having increased for several years. Not only that, but a recent ranking of the 20 highest-grossing film directors of all time also revealed that all top-earning directors are male, highlighting the firm financial gap between male and female professionals in the industry. Representation on camera The gender distribution of lead actors in movies has become much more balanced in recent years. In 2024, for example, women accounted for roughly 48 percent of film leads in the U.S., significantly higher than the 25.6 percent share they had reached in 2011. The latest reports also indicated that women and people of color have made significant gains during the past decade in terms of on-screen employment. Both groups have approached or even surpassed proportionate representation compared to U.S. demographic data. That said, on-screen presence does not automatically imply inclusion or guarantee the appropriate portrayal of diverse groups on TV and the big screen.

The aim of this dataset is to provide a comprehensive set of financial, structural and contextual facts and figures which depict the setting in which directors and organisations work. These data cover a selection of characteristics, including demographic and biographic information of FTSE 100 directors and senior executive directors in top management teams in 2008, as well as financial and other corporate indicators. The methodology of this data collection is codified in the user guide (see documentation section below) which further elaborates the assumptions underlying choices made in collating these data.
This quantitative dataset was collected as part of a wider qualitative project which interviewed executive, non-executive directors, chairmen and investors of the FTSE 100 companies, as well as selected investors, auditors, regulators and executive search consultants. The qualitative data are not available from the UK Data Archive.

This paper analyzes the influence of female participation on the performance and financial risk considering a sample of 218 public companies traded on B3 (Bovespa) from 2010 a 2016. The study also analyzes the influence of female participation on family control companies. Using a random effects methodology and family control dummy and percentage of female presence in boards of director, the study sought to analyze how theses variables and their interactions affect the financial performance of companies. Although the female representation has grown more than 50% in recent years, this share, however, in the board of directors of Brazilian companies is still a minority, close to 9% of the total surveyed. The ownership structure in the family firms is very relevant, with the percentage of 63%. The results suggest a positive relation between female participation and the Tobin-Q, used by value’s proxy, however, this relationship is weaker for firms with a family control. Another result found is that volatility, taken here as a risk’s proxy, is reduced in family run-business.

Research data used in the paper entitled "Testing the contributions of outside directors: should family firms respond differently?" published in Revista Brasileira de Gestão de Negócios (RBGN) - V25, n3 (2023).
This archive contains data on the political giving patterns of board members and CEOs of Fortune 500 companies used in "Avenues of Influence: On the Political Expenditures of Corporations and Their Directors and Executives." Abstract: The literature on corporate political influence has primarily focused on expenditures made by corporations and their PACs but has largely ignored the political activities of the individuals who lead these firms. To better understand the role of corporate elites in political advocacy, I introduce a new database of campaign contributions made by corporate directors and executives of Fortune 500 firms. Donating to political campaigns is nearly universal among corporate elites. When compared to corporate PACs, corporate elites are more ideological, more willing to support non-incumbents, and less likely to target powerful legislators. The results also reveal substantial heterogeneity in the political preferences of directors both across and within firms. In addition to challenging widely held beliefs about the political leanings of corporate elites, the prevalence of bipartisan boardrooms has important implications for how the preferences of key decision-makers within a firm shape its political activities.
