    Description

    In 2023, the unemployment rate of persons with a disability was at 7.2 percent in the United States. This was a decrease from the previous year, when the unemployment rate was at 7.6 percent. The high unemployment among persons with disabilities may be due to the COVID-19 pandemic that has impacted everyone's employment, as can be seen in the unemployment rate of adults in the United States. The persons with a disability section of the Current Population Survey (CPS) is a set of six questions to identify persons who have physical, mental, or emotional conditions that cause serious difficulty with their daily activities. Disability in the labor force The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows the unemployment rate of persons with a disability that have the ability to participate in the civilian labor force. In 2020 around 20.5 percent of persons with disabilities in the United States participated in the civilian labor force. Among those capable of participating in the civilian labor force, persons with a disability tend to have a higher chance of employment the higher their level of education. Persons with a disability that had a bachelor's degree or higher had the highest employment rate in 2020 at 25.7 percent. Social Security benefits Due to the inability to work, or the lack of access to suitable employment, many persons with a disability rely on government sources for financial aid. A portion of civilian paychecks are taxed to fund programs like the Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) which provide this aid. In 2018, around 12.46 million disabled persons received OASDI or SSI benefits in the United States.

    The domain 'Youth Employment' is based on the results of the European Union Labour Force Survey (EU-LFS).

    The EU-LFS is a quarterly household sample survey carried out in the Member States of the European Union, EFTA countries (except for Liechtenstein) and Candidate Countries (Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey). It is the main source of information about the situation and trends on the labour market in the European Union.

    Since 1 January 2021, the EU-LFS is based on Regulation (EU) 2019/1700, also called the Integrated European Social Statistics Framework Regulation (IESS FR), and its Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/2240.

    According to the regulations in force since 1 January 2021, the EU-LFS is organised in 9 topics:

    • Technical items
    • Person and household characteristics;
    • Labour market participation;
    • Educational attainment and background;
    • Job tenure, work biography and previous work experience;
    • Working conditions including working hours and working time arrangements;
    • Participation in education and training;
    • Health: status and disability, access to, availability and use of health care and health determinants;
    • Income, consumption and elements of wealth, including debts.

    The survey's target population consists of all persons in private households, although the variables related to labour market are only collected for persons aged 15-89 years and education and training for persons aged 15-74 years.

    Detailed information on main features, legal basis, methodology and data as well as on the historical development of the EU-LFS is available on the EU-LFS (Statistics Explained) webpage.

    Description

    ObjectivesTo examine disability-related disparities in participation in national health screenings in South Korea and to determine how these gaps vary by disability severity, type, and socio-economic factors.MethodsA trend analysis of screening participation from 2012 to 2020 and multivariable logistic regression for 2019–2020 were conducted using the National Health Insurance Service database, linking eligibility, health screening, and disability registration data. The cohort comprised 10,413,089 adults aged ≥40 years (20% population sample). Annual screening uptake was the outcome; predictors included disability status, severity, type, employment, sex, income, insurance, and region.ResultsScreening uptake rose overall between 2012 and 2020 yet remained lower for people with disabilities, particularly those with severe physical, visual, communication, mental, developmental, epilepsy, and internal disabilities. Age-sex standardization and socio-economic adjustment attenuated but did not remove gaps. Employment narrowed disparities, whereas women with disabilities faced wider gaps than men.ConclusionDespite nationwide gains, disability-related inequities in preventive screening persist, amplified by severe impairment, unemployment, and female gender. Policies should prioritize accessible facilities, targeted outreach, and socio-economic support to ensure equitable screening for people with disabilities.

    Description

    The European Union Labour Force Survey (EU-LFS) provides population estimates for the main labour market characteristics, such as employment, unemployment, being outside the labour force, hours of work, occupation and much else, as well as important socio-demographic characteristics, such as sex, age, education, households and regions of residence. Since 1999, an inherent part of EU-LFS has been the modules. These were called 'ad hoc modules' until 2020. From 2021 onwards, they are called either '8-yearly modules' when the variables have an 8-yearly periodicity or 'modules on an ad hoc subject' for variables not included in the 8-yearly datasets. Commission delegated regulation (EU) 2020/256 specifies a multiannula rolling plan for the period 2021-2028.

    Description

    This table contains figures on the benefit position of young people aged 15 to 27 on 31 December of the reference year by region. The benefit position of young people is divided into whether or not they receive benefits. The benefit types unemployment, disability and welfare and assistance-related benefits are also included. The regional breakdown for all years is based on the municipal breakdown of 1 January 2022. The total number of young people on benefits in this table is lower than in regular StatLine tables on people on benefits because young people do not live in the Netherlands or whose place of residence unknown is not included in this table. The number of young people receiving benefits in this table is also lower than in the table Labor market situation for young people (15 to 27 years); region 2020. This is mainly because an exact reference date has been chosen in this table (31 December) while in the table Labor market situation young people (15 to 27 years); region 2020, it was checked whether someone had a benefit somewhere in the month of October. See paragraph 3 for the above tables. A young person can claim several benefits. These can be benefits of the same type, for example two benefits in the context of disability, or benefits of different types, such as one benefit in the context of unemployment and social assistance. In the latter case, the young person is included in both types of benefits. In the first case, only once for disability benefits. In the total counts, the person is counted once. As a result, the sum of the categories is not equal to the total number of young people on benefits. To mitigate the consequences of the corona crisis, the Temporary bridging scheme for self-employed entrepreneurs (Tozo) has been in force since 1 March 2020. The Temporary Bridging Scheme for Self-Employed Entrepreneurs (Tozo) provides independent entrepreneurs with an additional payment for living expenses or a loan for working capital to deal with liquidity problems as a result of the corona crisis. Self-employed entrepreneurs can receive an amount from this scheme to supplement their income up to the social minimum. The first part of the Tozo expired at the end of May 2020, but due to an extension, the scheme was still in force at the end of 2020. The Tozo is regarded as a social assistance-related benefit, which means that the number of people receiving a social assistance benefit increased sharply in 2020. In order to show how young people in the Netherlands are doing, the National Youth Monitor describes more than 70 topics in addition to this topic. The subjects are called indicators. Data available from: 2007 Status of the figures: These are definitive figures. Changes as of July 29, 2022: None, this is a new table. When will new numbers come out? The figures for 2022 will be published in the third quarter of 2023.

    Description

    This table provides figures on the number of persons benefiting from social security benefits by municipality, district and neighbourhood (classification 2020). It concerns persons with invalidity, unemployment, old-age and social assistance benefits. It is possible that a person may claim more than one benefit. These may be benefits of the same type (e.g. two benefits under the Incapacity Insurance Act (WAO)) or two benefits of different types (such as a benefit under the Unemployment Act and a social assistance benefit). In the latter case, the person is included in both types of benefits, in the first case only once (in the case of the WAO). In the category of persons with a benefit (total) the person is, of course, counted only once.

    The figures on the number of persons receiving benefits per neighbourhood, district or municipality may differ slightly from figures published elsewhere on StatLine by using the latest data from the Basic Persons Register (BRP). Since several StatLine tables are updated at different times, it may be that for one table a different version of the BRP is used than for another table. In that case, the latest published figures are the most accurate. The figures refer to the last day of the reporting month.

    Data available from: March 2020.

    Status of the figures: The 2020 figures are provisional.

    Changes by: 31 January 2022 The provisional figures from October to December 2020 for persons receiving disability benefits have been added.

    When will there be new figures? These figures by municipality, district and neighbourhood with classification 2021 appear in a new table
