Blank values represent small cell counts that have been suppressed to protect the identity of Veterans as well as some cell counts that have been suppressed in order to prevent the determination of the values of the aforementioned small cell counts. Some categories may not sum to the total due to missing information (e.g., age, sex, etc.). The availability of sex and age data is limited as some records have no sex or birthdate available. In the table, there are 404 Veterans whose sex is not available and 113 Veterans whose age is not available. It provides the most comprehensive picture of the Veteran population possible to support statistical, trend and longitudinal analysis. USVETS has both a static dataset, represents a single authoritative record of all living and deceased Veterans, and fiscal year datasets, represents a snapshot of a Veteran for each fiscal year. USVETS consists mainly of data sources from the Veterans Benefit Administration, the Veterans Health Administration, the Department of Defense’s Defense Manpower Data Center, and other data sources including commercial data sources. This dataset contains information about individual Veterans including demographics, details of military service, VA benefit usage, and more. The dataset contains one record per Veteran. It includes all living and deceased Veterans. USVETS data includes Veterans residing in states, US territories and foreign countries. VA uses this database to conduct statistical analytics, predictive modeling, and other data reporting. USVETS includes the software, hardware, and the associated processes that produce various VA work products and related files for Veteran analytics.

This dataset provides Census 2021 estimates that classify usual residents aged 16 years and over in England and Wales who have previously served in the UK armed forces by disability. The estimates are as at Census Day, 21 March 2021.
Many who have previously served in the UK armed forces will be older males because of National Service. We applied extra quality assurance to correct some answers from currently serving personnel. Read more about this quality notice.
Area type
Census 2021 statistics are published for a number of different geographies. These can be large, for example the whole of England, or small, for example an output area (OA), the lowest level of geography for which statistics are produced.
For higher levels of geography, more detailed statistics can be produced. When a lower level of geography is used, such as output areas (which have a minimum of 100 persons), the statistics produced have less detail. This is to protect the confidentiality of people and ensure that individuals or their characteristics cannot be identified.
Coverage
Census 2021 statistics are published for the whole of England and Wales. Data are also available in these geographic types:

Abstract (en): This dataset provides information on labor force activity for the week prior to the survey. Comprehensive data are available on the employment status, occupation, and industry of persons 14 years old and over. Also included are personal characteristics such as age, sex, race, marital status, veteran status, household relationships, educational background, and Spanish origin. In addition, the supplement provides information on military service and veteran disability for males 18 years and older. Data include veteran status, period of service, Vietnam theater status, service-connected disability rating, and receipt of disability income. The universe consists of all persons in the civilian noninstitutional population of the United States living in households. The probability sample selected to represent the universe consists of approximately 71,000 households.
The Department of Veterans Affairs provides official estimates and projections of the Veteran population using the Veteran Population Projection Model (VetPop). Based on the latest model VetPop2020 and the most recent national survey estimates from the 2021 American Community Survey 5-Year (ACS) data, the projected number of Veterans living in 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico for the fiscal years, 2021 to 2023, are allocated to Urban and Rural areas. As defined by the Census Bureau, those not residing in Urban areas are assumed to be in Rural areas (https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/geography/guidance/geo-areas/urban-rural/2010-urban-rural.html).
This table contains the Veteran estimates by urban/rural, age group, poverty, and disability. The poverty level and disability are determined by ACS based on responses on total income and functional difficulties. Refer to the sections on Poverty and Disability Status in the document, https://www2.census.gov/programs-surveys/acs/tech_docs/subject_definitions/2021_ACSSubjectDefinitions.pdf
Note: Rounding to the nearest 1,000 is always appropriate for VetPop estimates.
