    Description

In May 2024, the Connecticut General Assembly passed Public Act No. 24-45 (PA 24-45), which mandates that the Connecticut Preschool Through Twenty Workforce Information Network (P20 WIN) Executive Board disseminate a report on disconnected youth on an annual basis, starting in 2025. The Disconnected and At-Risk Youth in Connecticut report examines several socioeconomic, demographic, and other factors associated with disconnection to inform stakeholders seeking to identify subpopulations to target efforts to reconnect and/or prevent disconnection for young people ages 14-26.

    Description

As of February 2025, India was the country with the largest offline population worldwide. The South Asian country had over 651 million people without internet connection. China ranked second, with around 311.9 million people not connected to the internet. Despite these large shares of the disconnected population in these countries, China and India ranked first and second, respectively, as countries with the highest number of internet users worldwide. Internet access in Africa In 2023, Africa lagged behind other global regions regarding internet penetration rate, as only 37 percent of the continent’s population accessed the web. In contrast, around 91 percent of Europe’s population were internet users. This is heavily influenced by the infrastructure development in the region. However, some improvements are forecasted, as by 2028, the internet penetration rate in Africa will be at an estimated 48.15 percent. Global internet access challenges: disruptions and restrictions Government internet shutdowns around the world are another challenge for internet access. Between 2015 and the first half of 2023, 172 local internet connection disruptions occurred due to protests globally. Moreover, according to a 2023report on internet freedom, almost four out of ten global internet users were deprived of essential freedoms on online platforms. In 2023, 76 new restrictions on internet usage were implemented worldwide. Asia led in imposing these restrictions, accounting for approximately 55 cases across various countries in the region.

    Description

To advance ON TO 2050’s commitment to inclusive growth, CMAP has defined Economically Disconnected and Disinvested Areas within the region. Economically Disconnected Areas (EDAs) identify areas with concentrations of both low-income households and population of color or limited English proficiency population; approximately one-third of the region’s population lives in EDAs. Disinvested Areas (DAs) outline primarily nonresidential places with long-term declines in employment and other markers of commercial market weakness. Together, EDA and DA communities experience a persistent, long-term lack of market investment, leading to declining property values, taxes, employment, and, frequently, population. Disinvestment often constrains the ability of any individual community to respond effectively to these losses, and high tax rates and low market potential limit private investment. For these reasons, these geographies should be examined both separately and together. While some policy solutions will be common to both geographies, other solutions may be unique to each geography.More information can be found on CMAP's Economically Disconnected and Disinvested Areas webpage.Data sources are detailed in the methodology documents linked below:EDA MethodologyDisinvested Areas MethodologyInclusive Growth Strategy PaperReinvestment and Infill Strategy Paper

    Description

Functionally disconnected clusters associated with higher semantic cognition composite scores. Generated using nonparametric 2-sample t-tests in Randomise.

    Collection description

Unthresholded NIFTI files for the project 'Mapping lesion, structural disconnection, and functional disconnection to symptoms in semantic aphasia'. Here, we observe typical patterns of lesion, structural disconnection, and functional disconnection in a sample of 23 patients with semantic aphasia following left hemisphere stroke. We observe degrees of damage to relevant functional networks, and map damage onto both semantic impairment and dysexecutive symptoms as measured by the Brixton Spatial Anticipation Test.

This collection first includes overlap maps for the different measures of damage:

    - Lesion Overlap - an overlay of all patients' lesions (binary files manually drawn in MRICron)
    - SDC Overlap - an overlay of all patients' structural disconnection (SDC) files. These files were generated using the Disconnectome function of the BCB Toolkit, reflecting probabilistic white matter disconnection on the basis of lesion location. Input files used a threshold of 50% probability of disconnection. For the purpose of this overlay, these files were binarised.
    - FDC Overlap - an overlay of all patients' functional disconnection (FDC) files. These files were generated using patients' lesion files in seed-based functional connectivity analysis in CONN, to determine areas likely functionally disconnected by lesion. Again, these files were binarised in order to generate this overlay.

We next include output files of our symptom mapping for both semantic and executive performance, for each measure of damage. Symptoms were mapped using non-parametric two-sample t-tests in Randomise using threshold-free cluster enhancement (with 5,000 permutations). For interpretation we threshold these files at a t-value of 2.6, but they are presented uncorrected here. Files are named according to their measure of damage, behavioural scores used, and the direction of the effect. 'Lesion semantic positive' would reflect lesioned clusters associated with less poor semantic performance. 'SDC Brixton negative' would reflect structurally disconnected clusters associated with poorer executive performance.

    Description

Two novel cryogenic couplings will be designed, fabricated and tested. Intended for in-space use at cryogenic propellant depots, the couplings are based on patented Venturi-Offset Technology (VOST) and will provide small fluid and heat leakage at high flows with a low pressure drop. Entirely mechanical, insertion opens the passage, removal closes the passage. Mating force and alignment requirements are small. With only eight major parts, reliability is high and mass is low. Redundant seals, integrated health measurements, and robotic control are possible.

    Description

The offline data analysis market is experiencing robust growth, driven by the increasing need for businesses to derive actionable insights from large volumes of data collected without requiring continuous internet connectivity. The market's expansion is fueled by several key factors, including the rising adoption of edge computing, which allows for processing data closer to its source, reducing latency and bandwidth requirements. Furthermore, the growing demand for real-time analytics in various sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics is significantly boosting market growth. The ability to analyze data offline enhances operational efficiency, improves decision-making, and enables better resource allocation, particularly in environments with limited or unreliable internet access. This trend is further accelerated by the proliferation of IoT devices generating vast quantities of data that need immediate processing, regardless of network availability. While challenges remain, such as data security and the need for sophisticated offline analytical tools, the market is poised for considerable expansion. This is primarily due to continuous technological advancements addressing these challenges and the increasing affordability of powerful, portable computing devices capable of handling complex data analysis tasks offline. Segmentation reveals a strong presence across individual and enterprise applications, with the enterprise segment dominating due to the larger volume of data generated and the need for sophisticated analytics to optimize operations. North America and Europe currently hold substantial market shares, driven by early adoption of advanced technologies and robust digital infrastructure. However, the Asia-Pacific region is expected to witness the fastest growth in the coming years, owing to rapid digitalization and increasing investments in data analytics capabilities across various industries. This growth is further propelled by the rising penetration of smartphones and connected devices, generating significant amounts of offline data that requires analysis for improved service delivery and business outcomes. Companies like Adobe, Google, and Agilent Technologies are actively contributing to this growth through the development of powerful offline data analysis tools and solutions. The forecast for the next decade projects a consistent upward trajectory, making the offline data analysis market an attractive investment opportunity for both established players and new entrants.
