This repository contains the fieldnotes, interview transcripts, desk research data, and analysis data collected for my dissertation. The data set contains the following:
data-analysis.tar.gz: This archive contains files related to the qualitative data analysis conducted on data collected during fieldwork and interviews. It includes an export of the atlas.ti qualitative data analysis software, which was used to code and interpret the data.
Document-public.tar.gz: This archive comprises publicly available documents sourced from various websites. These documents were utilized across different chapters of the dissertation, focusing on information systems related to migration, security, and border control within the EU. Key sources include: EU-LISA (European Agency for the operational management of large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security, and justice), Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND), ELISE data matching system from the WCC Group

We present the results of a quantitative assessment of research data produced and submitted with dissertations Special attention is paid to the size of the research data in appendices, to their presentation and link to the text, to their sources and typology, and to their potential for further research. The discussion puts the focus on legal aspects (database protection, intellectual property, privacy, third-party rights) and other barriers to data sharing, reuse and dissemination through open access.
Another part adds insight into the potential handling of these data, in the framework of the French and Slovenian dissertation infrastructures. What could be done to valorize these data in a centralized system for electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs)? The topics are formats, metadata (including attribution of unique identifiers), submission/deposit, long-term preservation and dissemination. This part will also draw on experiences from other campuses and make use of results from surveys on data management at the Universities of Berlin and Lille.

Collection of data from the PhD Thesis 'Development of coupled processes numerical models of tracer, colloid and radionuclide tranpsort in field migration experiments', submitted as part of the RATE HydroFrame WP5. This collection of data includes blank model files in COMSOL Multiphysics and PHREEQC, as described in the PhD thesis. Also included in this data package are different spreadsheets with model outputs from the model files that describe the transport of conservative tracers, colloids and radionuclides in experiments carried out at the Grimsel Test Site, Switzerland as part of the Colloid Radionuclide and Retardation (CRR) and the Colloid Formation and Migration (CFM) experiments (www.grimsel.com).

ABSTRACT: The mode of production of scientific knowledge has become complex, leading to the use of research methodological elements that also investigate subjective issues. This study aims to analyze characteristics of PhD theses that adopted the qualitative approach, defended at a Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) of a University of the Northeast Region of Brazil, 2013-2016 quadrennium. The theoretical basis of the work is based on contributions from Evandro Ghedin, Marcos Zanette, Marli André and Maria Amélia Franco. To achieve the proposed objective, a quali-quantitative documentary research was developed, based on the identification and analysis of the categories: theme, method, data collection procedure and data analysis technique, synthesized by grouping data extracted from theses abstracts. It was found that, of the amount of 57 theses defended in the period considered, 87.7% (n=50) used a qualitative approach, although only 32.0% (n=16) of these explain this approach in their summary. Public policy and teacher education are the most present among themes. 42.0% (n=21) of the theses clearly indicate the research method, with emphasis on documentary research. There are multiple data collection procedures in them, especially interview and document collection. In 46.0% (n=23) of the theses, the data analysis technique is specified, mainly content analysis. However, it is considered important that researchers in the field of Education clearly inform all the methodological elements of their theses in their abstracts.

Jordan Number of Enrolled PHD Students data was reported at 3,362.000 Person in 2017. This records an increase from the previous number of 3,276.000 Person for 2016. Jordan Number of Enrolled PHD Students data is updated yearly, averaging 1,892.000 Person from Jun 2002 (Median) to 2017, with 15 observations. The data reached an all-time high of 3,362.000 Person in 2017 and a record low of 682.000 Person in 2002. Jordan Number of Enrolled PHD Students data remains active status in CEIC and is reported by Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The data is categorized under Global Database’s Jordan – Table JO.G007: Education Statistics.
Contained in this datset are the data from the surveys in Chile and Tanzania and the replication files for the analysis conducted in the doctoral dissertation: "The dynamic preferences and incentives of natural resource users". The project is centered around the management of natural resources and the behaviours of resource users, such as small-scale fishers. The papers within the dissertation touch on subjects such as endogenous risk- and social preference, prudence, precautionary savings and social norms of cooperation.

The data underlying two chapters of the dissertation are included in this dataset.
The method used in Chapter 2 of this dissertation is a systematic literature review of scientific publications, with the addition of some sources using the snowball method. This chapter has been published as a peer-reviewed journal article: https://doi.org/10.1080/17567505.2022.2058551
Chapter 3 of this dissertation includes a review of the jury reports for two prestigious awards in the Netherlands and Europe: the Nationale Restauratie Platform - Gulden Fenix Prijs (NRP Golden Phoenix Prize) and the Europa Nostra Award. This chapter has been published as a peer-reviewed journal article:
The data in this collection comprises the bibliographic metadata for all UK doctoral theses listed in EThOS, the UK's national thesis service. We estimate the data covers around 98% of all PhDs ever awarded by UK Higher Education institutions, dating back to 1787. Thesis metadata from every PhD-awarding university in the UK is included. You can investigate and re-use this unique collection of UK universities' PhD thesis data to analyse trends in postgraduate research, make connections between researchers, apply large data analysis, improve citation of theses and many more applications.

This dataset contains summary data for each of the 49 analyzed texts in a research accepted for publication in the Scandinavian Journal of Educational Research. The article investigates patterns of systematic metaphors used to characterize various aspects of the doctoral education period, based on analysis of dissertation acknowledgements (DAs) from doctoral dissertations across academic disciplines and written by researchers from four PhD programs offered by a Norwegian university. A discourse dynamics approach was applied to the data, allowing for the identification of metaphors employed about these topics followed by the categorization of the identified metaphors into broader categories. The resulting overview of the systematic metaphorical patterns in DAs provides empirical evidence concerning how doctoral researchers view their experiences, useful in mentoring situations as a starting point for addressing attitudes, beliefs and values about the various challenges and rewards involved in doctoral trajectories.
