    Description

    A. SUMMARY This dataset contains the current San Francisco Board of Supervisor district boundaries approved by the San Francisco Redistricting Task Force. This dataset was created in April 2022 following redistricting based on the 2020 Decennial Census.

    B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED This dataset will be updated to reflect the most current Supervisor District boundaries available. It currently reflects the same boundaries found in Supervisor Districts (2022). More information on how this was created can be found in the datasets by year: Supervisor Districts (2022) and Supervisor Districts (2012)

    C. UPDATE PROCESS Supervisor District boundaries are updated every 10 years following the federal decennial census. The Supervisor District boundaries reflected in this dataset will be manually updated after the next decennial census in 2030.

The dataset is also manually updated as new members of the Board of Supervisors take office. The most recent manual update date is reflected in the 'data_as_of' field.

    D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET This dataset can be joined to other datasets for analysis and reporting at the Supervisor District level.

If you are building an automated reporting pipeline using Socrata API access, we recommend using this dataset if you would like the boundaries to automatically update after each decennial census to reflect the most recent Supervisor District boundaries. If you'd like your boundaries to remain static, see the Supervisor Districts (2022) dataset.

    Description

This digital map database provides an areally continuous representation of the Quaternary surficial deposits of the San Francisco Bay region merged from the database files from Knudsen and others (2000) and Witter and others (2006). The more detailed mapping by Witter and others (2006) of the inner part of the region (compiled at a scale of 1:24,000), is given precedence over the less detailed mapping by Knudsen and others (2000) of the outer part of the area (compiled at a scale of 1:100,000). The Quaternary map database is accompanied by a list of the map-unit names represented by polygon identities, a digital map index of the 1:24,000-scale topographic quadrangles of the region, and a figure illustrating the contents of the database. The Quaternary map database includes line work and the identity of the Quaternary map units, but no further description of the map units or how they were mapped. Use of the database should thus be accompanied by consultation with the original reports, which describe the map units and mapping procedures: citation of this database should be accompanied by citation of those original reports. As with all such digital maps, use of this database should attend to the compilation scales involved and not try to extract spatial detail or accuracy beyond those limits. Database layers: SFBQuat-lns: Quaternary map database: unit boundaries and their attributes SFBQuat-pys: Quaternary map database: polygons and their attributes SFBIndex-lns: Boundaries of 7.5-minute quadrangles for the map area, distinguishing those that form boundaries of 15-minute and 30x60-minute quadrangles SFBIndex-pys: 7.5-minute quadrangles, and for those within map area, their names and the names of the 30x60-minute quadrangles that contain them. The liquefaction ratings presented in the original reports for the various Quaternary map units remain valid and can be assigned to the units in this database if desired, with ratings of Witter and others (2006) given precedence. Assembly of the Quaternary map database involved stripping out all the information from the source maps that dealt with liquefaction, a major component of the original reports, and adjusting line work at the common boundary between the two source maps to produce a nearly seamless spatial database. The common boundary between the two sources is retained. Mismatches remaining at that common boundary are of two types: (1) contrasts in the degree of subdivision of the deposits resulting from the different compilation scales, and (2) terminations of narrow bands of water and artificial fill and levees at quadrangle boundaries that resulted from differences in details shown on the 1:24,000-scale topographic maps used as a source of mapping information in the original reports. The illustrative figure accompanying the database shows the content of the database plotted at a scale of 1:275,000, with the different map units distinguished by color and the different types of lines distinguished by symbol and color. An index map in that figure shows the 165 7½-minute quadrangles covering the region and the areas of the two source maps. A. SUMMARY This dataset contains a version of the current San Francisco Board of Supervisor district boundaries that have been trimmed to exclude non-populated City and County territory that is outside of the contiguous land mass of the City and County. This excludes for example City and County land in the Farallon Islands, Angel Island, and Alameda County, The underlying official current Supervisor District boundaries are available in the Current Supervisor Districts dataset. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED This dataset will be updated to reflect the most current Supervisor District boundaries available. It currently reflects the same boundaries found in Supervisor Districts (2022). More information on how this was created can be found in the datasets by year: Supervisor Districts (2022) and Supervisor Districts (2012) C. D. Description

The Digital Geologic Map of the San Francisco North Quadrangle and part the Point Bonita Quadrangle, California is composed of GIS data layers complete with ArcMap 9.3 layer (.LYR) files, two ancillary GIS tables, a Map PDF document with ancillary map text, figures and tables, a FGDC metadata record and a 9.3 ArcMap (.MXD) Document that displays the digital map in 9.3 ArcGIS. The data were completed as a component of the Geologic Resources Inventory (GRI) program, a National Park Service (NPS) Inventory and Monitoring (I&M) funded program that is administered by the NPS Geologic Resources Division (GRD). Source geologic maps and data used to complete this GRI digital dataset were provided by the following: USGS. Detailed information concerning the sources used and their contribution the GRI product are listed in the Source Citation sections(s) of this metadata record (sfno_metadata.txt; available at http://nrdata.nps.gov/goga/nrdata/geology/gis/sfno_metadata.xml). All GIS and ancillary tables were produced as per the NPS GRI Geology-GIS Geodatabase Data Model v. 2.1. (available at: http://science.nature.nps.gov/im/inventory/geology/GeologyGISDataModel.cfm). The GIS data is available as a 9.3 personal geodatabase (sfno_geology.mdb), and as shapefile (.SHP) and DBASEIV (.DBF) table files. The GIS data projection is NAD83, UTM Zone 10N. That data is within the area of interest of Fort Point National Historic Site and Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

    Description

2020 Census block groups for the San Francisco Bay Region, clipped to remove major coastal and bay water areas. Features were extracted from California 2021 TIGER/Line shapefile by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission.Block groups are clusters of blocks within the same census tract. Each census tract contains at least one block group, and block groups are uniquely numbered within census tracts. Block groups have a valid code range of 0 through 9. Block groups have the same first digit of their 4-digit census block number from the same decennial census. For example, tabulation blocks numbered 3001, 3002, 3003,.., 3999 within census tract 1210.02 are also within Block Group 3 within that census tract. Block groups coded 0 are intended to only include water area, no land area, and they are generally in territorial seas, coastal water, and Great Lakes water areas.Block groups generally contain between 600 and 3,000 people. A block group usually covers a contiguous area but never crosses county or census tract boundaries. They may, however, cross the boundaries of other geographic entities like county subdivisions, places, urban areas, voting districts, congressional districts, and American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian areas. The block group boundaries in this release are those that were delineated as part of the Census Bureau's Participant Statistical Areas Program (PSAP) for the 2020 Census.

Description

E. RELATED DATASETS Supervisor Districts (2022) - current Supervisor District Boundaries as of 2022 Supervisor Districts (2012) Current Supervisor Districts (trimmed to remove water and non-populated areas) View this data on ArcGIS Online
