This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on predominantly political issues. The questions ask opinions about political leaders and political issues within the country. There are also questions on other topics of interest and importance to the country and government, such as wages and inflation, and attitudes towards marijuana. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographical and social variables. Topics of interest include: a 6% pay limit increase; Canada becoming a Republic instead of being under the Queen's reign; divorce rates; fighting inflation; having fines for Marijuana possession instead of jail time; laws regulating labour unions; the lies in commercials; the Maritimes becoming one province; political preferences; the threat of Quebec separation if Bourassa is elected as Premier of Quebec; raising wages to keep up with the cost of living; the rating of Eric Kierans as Postmaster General; the rating of J.J. Greene as Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources; rating of John Turner as Finance Minister; the rise of unemployment; and the West becoming one province. Statistics Canada conducts the Census of Agriculture every five years at the same time as the Census of Population. The most recent Census of Agriculture was on May 15, 2001.The Census of Agriculture collects and disseminates a wide range of data on the agriculture industry such as number and type of farms, farm operator characteristics, business operating arrangements, land management practices, crop areas, numbers of livestock and poultry, farm capital, operating expenses and receipts, and farm machinery and equipment. These data provide a comprehensive picture of the agriculture industry across Canada every five years at the national and provincial levels as well as at lower levels of geography. The Census of Agriculture is the cornerstone of Canada's Agriculture Statistics Program. Census of Agriculture data are an indispensable public and private sector tool for analysing important changes in the agriculture and food industries; developing, implementing and evaluating agricultural policies and programs such as farm income safety nets and environmental sustainability; and making production, marketing and investment decisions. Statistics Canada uses the data as benchmarks for its regular surveys on crops, livestock and farm finances between census years. This release contains all farm and farm operator data. These estimates take into account the counts of the 2006 Census,adjusted for net census undercoverage and are based on the 2006 Standard Geographical Classification (SGC). The publication includes statistics for the demographic components that were used to produce the population estimates (births, deaths, marriages, divorces, immigration, emigration, net temporary emigration, returning emigration, internal migration and non-permanent residents) by age and sex. In addition, the publicat ion contains highlights of current demographic trends and a description of the methodology. It also provides additional data such as a chronological series of estimates by various levels of geography. With regard to provinces and territories, the estimates date back to 1971 (tables and animated age pyramid), 1996 for census divisions, census metropolitan areas and economic regions as well as census families.Note that the title of this product has changed for the 2007/08 edition, which is called Canadian Demographic Estimates.
