The Urban Planning Code defines two types of areas for municipal maps: however, there are special cases:- Graphic documents may define sectors reserved for industrial or craft activities, in particular those incompatible with the neighbourhood of inhabited areas.- They delimit, where appropriate, the areas in which the reconstruction of a building destroyed by a disaster is not permitted.- The installations necessary for collective equipment, agricultural or forestry exploitation and the development of natural resources are not covered by the principle of inconstructibility resulting from a classification.

    Description

This dataset is used in the map tooltip documentation to explain different ways to enhance information in a map. This database represents locations of Hospitals for 50 states and Washington D.C. , Puerto Rico and US territories. The dataset only includes hospital facilities and does not include nursing homes. Data for all the states was acquired from respective states departments or their open source websites and then geocoded and converted into a spatial database. After geocoding the exact spatial location of each point was moved to rooftops wherever possible and points which have been physically verified have been labelled "Geocode", "Imagery", "Imagery with other" and "Unverified" depending on the methodology used to move the points. "Unverified" data points have still not been physically examined even though each of the points has been street geocoded as mentioned above. Missing records are denoted by 'Not Available' or NULL values. Not Available denotes information that was either missing in the source data or data that has not been populated current version. This dataset has been developed to represent Hospitals for inclusion in the HSIP datasets.

    Description

This COVADIS data standard concerns local planning documents (LDPs) and land use plans (POSs that are PLU). This data standard provides a technical framework describing in detail how to dematerialise these planning documents into a spatial database that can be used by a GIS tool and interoperable. This standard of data concerns both the graphic zoning plans, the superimposed requirements and the regulations applying to each type of area. This standard of COVADIS data was developed on the basis of the specifications for the dematerialisation of urban planning documents updated in 2012 by the CNIG, itself based on the consolidated version of the urban planning code dated 16 March 2012. The recommendations of these two documents are consistent even if their purpose is not the same. The COVADIS data standard provides definitions and a structure for organising and storing existing PLU/POS spatial data in an infrastructure in digital form, while the CNIG specification serves to frame the digitisation of such data. The ‘Data Structure’ section presented in this COVADIS standard provides additional recommendations for the storage of data files (see Part C). These are choices specific to the MAA and MEDDE data infrastructure that do not apply outside their context. Communal maps are the subject of another COVADIS data standard.

    Description

The Urban Planning Code defines two types of areas for municipal maps: however, there are special cases:- Graphic documents may define sectors reserved for industrial or craft activities, in particular those incompatible with the neighbourhood of inhabited areas.- They delimit, where appropriate, the areas in which the reconstruction of a building destroyed by a disaster is not permitted.- The installations necessary for collective equipment, agricultural or forestry exploitation and the development of natural resources are not covered by the principle of inconstructibility resulting from a classification.

    Description

This data set comprises the Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) data for Rhode Island, Connecticut, and the New York - New Jersey Metropolitan Area from 1999 to 2001. ESI data characterize estuarine environments and wildlife by their sensitivity to spilled oil. The ESI data include information for three main components: shoreline habitats, sensitive biological resources, and human-use resources. This atlas was developed to be utilized within desktop GIS systems and contains GIS files and related D-base files. Associated files include MOSS (Multiple Overlay Statistical System) export files, .PDF maps, and detailed user guides and metadata.

    Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Ocean Service (NOS) initiated a coral reef research program in 1999 to map, assess, inventory, and monitor U.S. coral reef ecosystems. These activities were implemented in response to requirements outlined in the Mapping Implementation Plan developed by the Mapping and Information Synthesis Working Group (MISWG) of the Coral Reef Task Force (CRTF). As part of the MISWG of the CRTF, NOS's Biogeography Team has been charged with the development and implementation of a plan to produce comprehensive digital coral-reef ecosystem maps for all U.S. States, Territories, and Commonwealths within five to seven years. Joint activities between Federal agencies are particularly important to map, research, monitor, manage, and restore coral reef ecosystems. In response to the Executive Order 13089, NOS is conducting research to digitally map biotic resources and coordinate a long-term monitoring program that can detect and predict change in U.S. coral reefs, and their associated habitats and biological communities.

Most U.S. coral reef resources have not been digitally mapped at a scale or resolution sufficient for assessment, monitoring, and/or research to support resource management. Thus, a large portion of NOS' coral reef research activities have focused on mapping of U.S. coral reef ecosystems. The map products will provide the fundamental spatial organizing framework to implement and integrate research programs and provide the capability to effectively communicate information and results to coral reef ecosystem managers. Although the NOS coral program is relatively young, it has had tremendous success in advancing towards the goal to protect, conserve, and enhance the health of U.S. coral reef ecosystems. One objective of the program was to create benthic habitat maps to support coral reef research to enable development of products that support management needs and questions. Therefore this product was developed in collaboration with many Hawaiian partners, including Hawaii's Department of Land and Natural Resources, a leading coral reef management agency. An initial step in producing benthic habitat maps is the development of a habitat classification scheme.

This dataset focuses on the in situ data used to ground truth the mapping efforts on the main Hawaiian Islands: Hawaii, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Oahu, Kauai, and Niihau.

    Description

These maps show for the first time an accurate georeferenced mosaic of the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Palau and their respective corresponding shallow water areas. Shallow-water (generally, less than 30 meters) bank and land areas in these areas were identified through analysis of Landsat 7 ETM+ satellite imagery. The mosaics are laid over ETOPO2 Bathymetric Data to provide an enhanced understanding of how the Atolls and Islands fit together. In addition selected islands and atolls are shown next to the mosaic. This project was conducted in support of the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force.

Data in this accession are best used with appropriate Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
