Ontario has a comprehensive set of measures and regulations to help ensure the safety of drinking water.

The following dataset contains information about the drinking water systems, laboratories and facilities the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is responsible for monitoring to ensure compliance with Ontario's drinking water laws.

The dataset includes information about:

• the number and type of registered systems and laboratories
• drinking water quality test results
• adverse water quality incidents
• activities to support reduced lead in drinking water
• enforcement activities related to inspections
• orders and convictions
• system operator certification

The High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) product is derived from airborne LiDAR data (mainly in the south) and satellite images in the north. The complete coverage of the Canadian territory is gradually being established. It includes a Digital Terrain Model (DTM), a Digital Surface Model (DSM) and other derived data. For DTM datasets, derived data available are slope, aspect, shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps and for DSM datasets, derived data available are shaded relief, color relief and color shaded relief maps. The productive forest line is used to separate the northern and the southern parts of the country. This line is approximate and may change based on requirements. In the southern part of the country (south of the productive forest line), DTM and DSM datasets are generated from airborne LiDAR data. They are offered at a 1 m or 2 m resolution and projected to the UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system and the corresponding zones. The datasets at a 1 m resolution cover an area of 10 km x 10 km while datasets at a 2 m resolution cover an area of 20 km by 20 km. In the northern part of the country (north of the productive forest line), due to the low density of vegetation and infrastructure, only DSM datasets are generally generated. Most of these datasets have optical digital images as their source data. They are generated at a 2 m resolution using the Polar Stereographic North coordinate system referenced to WGS84 horizontal datum or UTM NAD83 (CSRS) coordinate system. Each dataset covers an area of 50 km by 50 km. For some locations in the north, DSM and DTM datasets can also be generated from airborne LiDAR data. In this case, these products will be generated with the same specifications as those generated from airborne LiDAR in the southern part of the country. The HRDEM product is referenced to the Canadian Geodetic Vertical Datum of 2013 (CGVD2013), which is now the reference standard for heights across Canada. Source data for HRDEM datasets is acquired through multiple projects with different partners. Since data is being acquired by project, there is no integration or edgematching done between projects. The tiles are aligned within each project. The product High Resolution Digital Elevation Model (HRDEM) is part of the CanElevation Series created in support to the National Elevation Data Strategy implemented by NRCan. Collaboration is a key factor to the success of the National Elevation Data Strategy. Context

The dataset tabulates the data for the Ontario, OR population pyramid, which represents the Ontario population distribution across age and gender, using estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey (ACS) 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. It lists the male and female population for each age group, along with the total population for those age groups. Higher numbers at the bottom of the table suggest population growth, whereas higher numbers at the top indicate declining birth rates. Furthermore, the dataset can be utilized to understand the youth dependency ratio, old-age dependency ratio, total dependency ratio, and potential support ratio.

It lists the population in each age group along with the percentage population relative of the total population for Ontario. The dataset can be utilized to understand the population distribution of Ontario by age. For example, using this dataset, we can identify the largest age group in Ontario.

Key observations

The largest age group in Ontario, CA was for the group of age 30 to 34 years years with a population of 15,629 (8.76%), according to the ACS 2019-2023 5-Year Estimates. At the same time, the smallest age group in Ontario, CA was the 85 years and over years with a population of 1,731 (0.97%). This dataset combines modified data from the OBBA (2001-2005) (Bird Studies Canada, 2008), the Avonet dataset (Tobias et al., 2022), and the Ontario Land Cover Compilation v2 (Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, 2014), specifically covering the Canadian portion of the Great Lakes Basin Watershed. It includes data on 211 species from the OBBA, though all location-identifying information has been excluded. The full dataset can be requested via the Nature Counts Portal (https://naturecounts.ca/nc/default/explore.jsp#download). Species trait data originate from the Avonet dataset, with detailed trait descriptions available from the original Avonet dataset.

Land cover classifications were simplified into two categories: "Natural" and "Human Modified." Although an "Other" category was initially present, it was removed prior to model development. The data was resampled into various pixel sizes, ranging from the original 15m resolution to 150m, 300m, 500m, and 1000m.

The dataset is divided into a 70/30 train-test split and was used in building random forest models. For further details, please refer to the original dataset sources.

The Digital Elevation Models (DEM) are 2-m resolution raster elevation products that were generated from the Ontario Classified Point Cloud (Imagery-Derived) data. The point clouds were created via a pixel-autocorrelation process from the stereo aerial photography of the Land Information Ontario (LIO) imagery program. It is important to note that the DEM does not represent a full ‘bare-earth’ elevation surface. There are areas where there are very few points classified as Ground and interpolation has occurred across the resulting voids. Points classified as Ground have not been assessed for accuracy to determine if they represent true ground features. Some features are still raised above ground surface, such as larger buildings, larger forest stands and other raised features.

The topographic data includes constructed and natural features that make up Ontario’s landscape.

The cache provides limited data from areas outside Ontario’s boundaries, such as the United States and adjacent provinces and territories.

Technical information Two versions of the LIO Topographic Data Cache are available:

The traditional raster version is available for a variety of GIS applications and is updated annually. The vector version is suitable for online web map applications as well as modern GIS software and is updated twice a year. Contributing data layers may have different maintenance and update cycles.

Some cache layers have been processed in a way that makes it easier for them to be displayed in a mapping product. Other layers are unchanged from the authoritative data.

The cartographic symbology used in the data cache is intentionally muted to allow users to showcase their data.The LIO Vector Topographic Data Cache is created from many source datasets as described in the LIO Topographic Data Cache user guide. If you are interested in obtaining this authoritative data, you can download it from the Ontario GeoHub.

Ontario's Woodland Caribou Recovery Strategy (2008) provides advice and recommendations on the approaches needed for the recovery of Woodland Caribou.

The strategy recommends the identification of ranges and local populations to:

• maintain existing, self-sustaining, genetically-connected local populations of caribou
• ensure security for and (reproductive) connections among currently isolated mainland caribou
• re-establish caribou in strategic areas to create self-sustaining local populations and ensure connectivity

These parks are managed by Ontario Parks.

The "http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/statutes/english/elaws_statutes_06p12_e.htm">Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 guides how these areas are planned and managed.

The purpose of the Act is to:

• permanently protect a system of provincial parks and conservation reserves
• protect Ontario's natural and cultural heritage
• maintain biodiversity
• provide opportunities for ecologically sustainable recreation
