    Description

BackgroundDrowning is a leading cause of death among young children. The United Nations Resolution on global drowning prevention (2021) and World Health Assembly Resolution in 2023 have drawn attention to the issue. This scoping review synthesizes the current evidence on the effectiveness of child drowning prevention interventions since the 2008 World Report on Child Injury Prevention and implications for their implementation.MethodsQuantitative studies published between 2008 and 2023 focusing on interventions targeting unintentional injuries, including drowning, among children and adolescents under age 20 years were searched on Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Epistemonikos, PubMed, and Embase. Relevant data on interventions were extracted using a pre-defined template on Microsoft Excel. This scoping review focuses on the interventions addressing drowning.ResultsOverall, 12 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Evidence generated between 2008 and 2023 support the effectiveness of introducing barriers around water bodies, immediate resuscitation and first-responder training, and use of personal floatation devices (PFDs). Basic swimming and water safety skills training for children ages 6 years and older, and enacting and enforcing regulations on pool fencing and PFD use were found to be promising based on new evidence published since 2008. This scoping review also found evidence on new interventions studied since 2008, such as close adult supervision, inspections of safety standards of pools, and the use of door barriers and playpens, all of which demand further research to ensure context-specific implementation in LMICs.ConclusionWhile there is evidence to support both existing and new interventions, most of the available interventions are still classified as promising and emerging, underlining the need for further evaluation of those interventions in diverse settings (including low and middle- income) through effectiveness studies and implementation research. In addition, it is important to highlight the nexus between drowning prevention and the Sustainable Development Goals to advocate multisectoral and interdisciplinary collaboration, to influence the broader child health agenda.

Rising drowning cases drive the growth of the floating jacket market. According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the world's third-highest cause of unintentional injury mortality, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths. Annual drowning deaths are estimated to be 236 000 globally. Children, men, and anybody with easy access to water are the most vulnerable to drowning. Pool Protection Fence Market Outlook

The global pool protection fence market size was valued at approximately $1.2 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach around $2.3 billion by 2032, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.2% from 2024 to 2032. The primary growth drivers for this market include an increasing emphasis on pool safety regulations, rising disposable incomes, and the escalating demand for aesthetically pleasing and durable fencing solutions.

One of the significant growth factors for the pool protection fence market is the increasing awareness about pool safety. Drowning remains one of the leading causes of unintentional injury-related deaths globally, especially among children. Governments and regulatory bodies worldwide are implementing stringent safety norms and guidelines to prevent such incidents. This has led homeowners and commercial entities to invest in reliable pool protection solutions, thereby augmenting the demand for pool fences. The market is also benefiting from the growing trend of home renovation and landscaping projects, which often include the installation of pool fences to enhance safety and aesthetic appeal.

Another pivotal growth factor is the rising disposable income, especially in emerging economies. As the middle-class population expands, there is a heightened inclination towards owning luxury amenities such as swimming pools. This trend is particularly observable in regions like Asia Pacific and Latin America, where economic growth is rapid. The increased purchasing power allows homeowners to invest in high-quality pool protection fences that not only ensure safety but also add to the visual appeal of their properties. This demographic shift and economic prosperity are likely to fuel the market's growth significantly over the forecast period.

Technological advancements and innovation in materials are also propelling the pool protection fence market forward. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on developing durable, weather-resistant, and easy-to-install fencing solutions. The integration of smart technologies, such as alarm systems and automated gates, has further enhanced the functionality and attractiveness of these products. Moreover, the growing environmental consciousness among consumers has led to a preference for eco-friendly and sustainable materials, providing new growth avenues for market players.

In the realm of commercial settings, the role of a Commercial Swimming Pool Lifeguard Chair becomes indispensable. These chairs are specifically designed to provide lifeguards with an elevated vantage point, ensuring they have a clear and unobstructed view of the entire pool area. This is crucial in large commercial pools where the safety of numerous swimmers is a priority. The chairs are often equipped with features such as umbrella holders and storage compartments, enhancing the lifeguard's ability to remain vigilant and prepared for any emergencies. As commercial pools continue to prioritize safety, the demand for specialized lifeguard chairs is expected to grow, complementing the broader market for pool protection solutions.

Regionally, North America held the largest share of the market in 2023, driven by stringent pool safety regulations and high disposable incomes. The region is expected to maintain its dominance over the forecast period, with a significant CAGR. However, Asia Pacific is anticipated to witness the most substantial growth, owing to rapid urbanization, rising disposable incomes, and increasing awareness about pool safety. Europe is also a key market, with steady growth driven by strict regulatory standards and a mature pool industry. Latin America and the Middle East & Africa, while currently smaller markets, offer considerable growth potential due to improving economic conditions and increasing consumer awareness.

    Product Type Analysis

In the pool protection fence market, the product type segment is crucial as it encompasses various fence types like removable mesh fences, permanent fences, glass fences, vinyl fences, and others. Removable mesh fences are highly popular due to their versatility and ease of installation. These fences are particularly favored by homeowners who seek a temporary yet effective safety solution when children or pets are around. Being lightweight and easy to remove, they provide flexibility that permanent solutions cannot offer. Additionally, advancements in mesh materials have made these fences more
