    Description

This dataset has been deprecated. Please use our 2017 Countywide Contours instead. These data comprise of one foot contours showing the elevation of Lake County, IL corresponding to the orthometric heights of the bare surface of the county (no buildings or vegetation cover). These data were developed from LIDAR data obtained between April 16, 2007 and May 07, 2007, and further supplemented by break lines collected from aerial photography taken at the same time. The contours and the aerial photography meet National Map Accuracy Standards for a 1 inch = 100 foot product. The contours have been created to be cartographically pleasing, as such some generalization has been introduced as expected. The contours have been tested against the original LIDAR points and conforms to the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Specifications and Standards Committee, 1990, ASPRS Accuracy Standards for Large-Scale Maps, CLASS 1 map accuracy. The vertical datum is the North American Vertical Datum of 1988. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering and Design Manual for Photogrammetric Production recommends that data intended for this usage scale be used for any of the following purposes: route location, preliminary alignment and design, preliminary project planning, hydraulic sections, rough earthwork estimates, or high-gradient terrain / low unit cost earthwork excavation estimates. The manual does not recommend that these data be used for final design, excavation and grading plans, earthwork computations for bid estimates or contract measurement and payment. Contour data is used by county agencies to study drainage issues such as flooding and erosion. Customers interested in the actual LiDAR data may download it at no cost from the USGS Center for LiDAR Information Coordination and Knowledge. These files are tiled by PLSS section and grouped by township and format for easier download. Please note that this dataset is available in for GIS in Esri shapefile format as well as for CAD in AutoCAD DWG and MicroStation DGN. Description

The urban service area boundary data layer is an integral part of the planning data in the Lexington-Fayette-Urban County Government Geographic Information System. This information is used by the Division of Planning in case review, enforcement, and long range planning. GIS data layers are accessed by personnel in most LFUCG divisions for basic applications such as viewing, querying, and map output production. This dataset is designed to represent and identify the urban service area in Lexington-Fayette County. The urban service area is the part of the county where urban services (city garbage collection, street lights, street sweeping) are provided and a higher density for development is allowed. The boundary is defined by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council Ordinance. The boundary was originally approved in 1958 and has been occasionally modified. Any expansion to the boundary is considered during Division of Planning's comprehensive plan review process, but the recommendation from Planning must receive Urban County Council approval for alteration. After UCG Council approval is received the ordinance is forwarded to the GIS Office for inclusion in the dataset. The data is in ESRI feature class format, but can be exported to any number of supported formats, including shapefile and dxf. The native projection for the data is Kentucky State Plane North (NAD83), but may have been reprojected for use in other applications. Please check metadata to determine current projection.

    Description

Vector polygon map data of city limits from across the State of Texas containing 2142 features.

City limits GIS (Geographic Information System) data provides valuable information about the boundaries of a city, which is crucial for various planning and decision-making processes. Urban planners and government officials use this data to understand the extent of their jurisdiction and to make informed decisions regarding zoning, land use, and infrastructure development within the city limits.

By overlaying city limits GIS data with other layers such as population density, land parcels, and environmental features, planners can analyze spatial patterns and identify areas for growth, conservation, or redevelopment. This data also aids in emergency management by defining the areas of responsibility for different emergency services, helping to streamline response efforts during crises..

This city limits data is available for viewing and sharing as a map in a Koordinates map viewer. This data is also available for export to DWG for CAD, PDF, KML, CSV, and GIS data formats, including Shapefile, MapInfo, and Geodatabase.

    Description

This layer was created for the redistricting project map. BUSD provided a powerpoint file that showed the boundaries since they could not locate the original shapefile that was used. The core information used the generate the boundaries are the image in the powerpoint file and the 2020 census block boundaries. The source of image used is described below by the original contractor Bruce Wicinas. I was drafted to help BUSD around 1991. At that time they used planning software authored by a San Jose company, "Educational Data Systems." This was long before ESRI was known to the likes of school districts or acknowledged by the Census Bureau. "Educational Data Systems," which had many school district clients around the U.S., performed their own particle-ization of school district geography. They divided districts into rectangles of approximately 4 - 8 city blocks. These they called "planning areas." They were convenient. BUSD they divided into 445, a number neither too fine nor too coarse. Many years later, .shp files became widely available. Alas, not all Planning Area perimeters coincide with line segments of .shp files. In the Berkeley flatlands the discrepancies are not so bad. But in the hills, there aren't "blocks" but meandering strips. "Planning Areas" have line segments which don't correspond to streets or perimeters of .shp files.About 15 years ago I enhanced my custom software to read shp files. Thus I could superimpose Planning Areas and .shp files, observing the overlap discrepancies. I'll omit for now the rest of this story; what I did about the discrepancy between census Block Groups and Planning Areas. I could go into that if you are interested.I got "Planning Areas" into my custom software from the ancient EdSys data, somehow ,decades ago. I may have read a file containing polygon coordinates. At that time I could export the planning area polygons via DXF. But they have no relationship to .shp. I could provide a representation of GIS planning areas in coordinates such as "State Plane" but this probably does you no good. I have never written an ".shp" file exporter. The .shp file format is mind-boggling; archaic compared to modern methods.About 25 years ago I wrote an on-line means by which staff at BUSD can type in a Berkeley address and get the corresponding socio-ec category number. It does this by determining the "planning area number" - 1 through 445 - containing the address. That on-line software could provide the attendance zone as well but no one ever asked for that. The student assignment software used by the high school and by admissions performs that function internally. Every student has an attendance zone number as soon as they get added to the database.

    Description

Aerial photography (35mm film) of penguin colonies was acquired over some islands north east of Brattstrand Bluff islands (Eric Woehler). The penguin colonies were traced, then digitised (John Cox), and saved as DXF-files. Using the ArcView extension 'Register and Transform' (Tom Velthuis), The DXF-files were brought into a GIS and transformed to the appropriate islands. Update May 2015 - This dataset has been rename from "Brattstrand Bluff penguin GIS dataset" to "Islands NE of Brattstrand Bluff penguin GIS dataset" to better describe the location of the colonies. The penguin colonies are on a small group of islands approximately 12km north east of Brattstrand Bluff. Latitude 69.148 south and longitude 77.268 east. The Data Centre does not have a copy of the original photographs or described GIS data. In May 2015, the Data Centre has attached the following to this record: The DXF file produced by John Cox by digitising the aerial photography. Note this document is not georeferenced. Four photographs taken in 2009 by Barbara Wienecke, Seabird Ecologist, showing penguin colonies on these islands. A shapefile exists of the digitised colonies. The digitising by Ursula Harris, Australian Antarctic Data Centre, was done by georeferencing the DXF drawing over unprocessed Quickbird Image 05NOV15042413-M1BS-052187281010_01_P002. It was done in two parts, the largest island and then the two smaller islands. This allowed for better matching. The accuracy of this data is unknown.

We are unable to provide any support for CAD users beyond providing the data.

    Description

This dataset is designed to represent and identify the urban service area in Lexington-Fayette County approved in 2001. The urban service area is the part of the county where urban services (city garbage collection, street lights, street sweeping) area provided and a higher density for development is allowed. The boundary is defined by Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council Ordinance. The boundary was originally approved in 1958 and slowly expanded. Expansion to the boundary is considered during Division of Planning's comprehensive plan review process, but the recommendation must receive Urban County Council approval for alteration.
