Use the app to find the downloadable area within Jackson County - 2 Foot Contour MapThe 2-foot Contour Map shows contours that were derived from several different LiDAR projects in the Rogue Valley over the last 10 years. The map can be used to both download and view the contour data. To use the map, search or zoom in to an address. When zoomed in to a specific scale, the map will change from the downloadable areas layer to 2-foot interval contour lines. The LiDAR Project Dates layer can be used to identify the date when the elevation was collected in an area. Please note that data is available only for the valley floor areas at this time. The 2ft contours were created from 1-meter pixel DEM and then cleaned to remove very small elevation changes and to create a smooth contour line. This information should not be used to create topographic surveys or other applications where the precise elevation of a location is required. For additional information on LiDAR in Oregon or to download the source data, please visit the DOGAMI Lidar Viewer. The downloadable data is a zipped ESRI Shapefile and is projected to Oregon State Plane South (Intl Feet) with NAD 1983 datum.

Students want to add their own information to the map. Exploring their world through maps is interesting... but there is something magical about seeing a picture you took and an observation you made displayed on a map. And what better place to explore your world than out in it, whether around your school, in your neighborhood, or in your backyard? With the ArcGIS field apps for data collection, young (and old) learners can collect data about the world around them.

GoldenEagleBreedingRange is an ESRI SDE Feature Class encompassing the geographic area in which a population of Golden Eagle can typically be found breeding (the period of time during each year when a species reproduces - mates and has young) in Colorado. This information was derived from species experts. A variety of data capture techniques were used including implementation of the SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard using stand-up, real-time digitizing at various scales (Cowardin, M., M. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld 16(3):32-35). Various sources were referenced in developing these data including CPW Scientific Collection data, Cornell Lab of Ornithology eBird data, and Colorado Breeding Bird Atlas data. This generalized graphic representation of species range data is provided for informational purposes only and has not been prepared for, nor is it suitable for, any type of legal, regulatory, or site specific planning purposes. These data are subject to errors and change. Users of the information displayed in this map service are strongly cautioned to verify all information and contact local CPW Biologists before making any decisions. These data were last updated in October 2018.

BaldEagleActiveNestSites_HalfMile is an ESRI SDE Feature Class showing a 0.5 mile buffer zone around active Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) nests in Colorado. This information was derived from field personnel. A variety of data capture techniques were used including drawing on mylar overlays at 1:50,000 scale USGS county mapsheets and implementation of the SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard using stand-up, real-time digitizing at various scales (Cowardin, M., M. Flenner. March 2003. Maximizing Mapping Resources. GeoWorld 16(3):32-35).
These line shapefiles trace apparent topographic and air-photo lineaments in various counties in Colorado. It was made in order to identify possible fault and fracture systems that might be conduits for geothermal fluids, as part of a DOE reconnaissance geothermal exploration program.
Geothermal fluids commonly utilize fault and fractures in competent rocks as conduits for fluid flow. Geothermal exploration involves finding areas of high near-surface temperature gradients, along with a suitable "plumbing system" that can provide the necessary permeability. Geothermal power plants can sometimes be built where temperature and flow rates are high.
This line shapefile is an attempt to use desktop GIS to delineate possible faults and fracture orientations and locations in highly prospective areas prior to an initial site visit. Geochemical sampling and geologic mapping could then be centered around these possible faults and fractures.
To do this, georeferenced topographic maps and aerial photographs were utilized in an existing GIS, using ESRI ArcMap 10.0 software. The USA_Topo_Maps and World_Imagery map layers were chosen from the GIS Server at server.arcgisonline.com, using a UTM Zone 13 NAD27 projection. This line shapefile was then constructed over that which appeared to be through-going structural lineaments in both the aerial photographs and topographic layers, taking care to avoid manmade features such as roads, fence lines, and utility right-of-ways. Still, it is unknown what actual features these lineaments, if they exist, represent.
Although the shapefiles are arranged by county, not all areas within any county have been examined for lineaments. Work was focused on either satellite thermal infrared anomalies, known hot springs or wells, or other evidence of geothermal systems. Finally, lineaments may be displaced somewhat from their actual location, due to such factors as shadow effects with low sun angles in the aerial photographs.
Credits: These lineament shapefile was created by Geothermal Development Associates, as part of a geothermal geologic reconnaissance performed by Flint Geothermal, LLC, of Denver Colorado.
Use Limitation: These shapefiles were constructed as an aid to geothermal exploration in preparation for a site visit for field checking. We make no claims as to the existence of the lineaments, their location, orientation, and/or nature. Eagle County Lineaments. Projection Information: UTM Zone 13 NAD 27 projection
